  1. What a shame as you are probably in an area where if it was not for this problem you could get good use out of the features on this deck. We were on a much colder (though in the summer) cruise on the Prima from London (Southampton) to Reykjavik and this deck was very cold especially when the wind blew.
  2. And then there is the Howling Wolf song Smokestack Lightning smokestack lightning lyrics - Google Search
  3. Another vote for the Celebrity cruise. Geiranger is just spectacular. Bergen is a very interesting place.
  4. That does not sound good! 😒
  5. Yes, Michael Modzelewski is terrific. Also, if your Princess cruise stops in Glacier Bay, the forest? rangers come aboard. OOPS! I think that should be park service rangers.
  6. We get a lot of mailing ads from NCL. We did sail on NCL this past summer on a cruise we found on one of their mailing ads we received in 2021. We had sailed with them twice before, but the last time was in 2012.
  7. Also, agree. DW and I sailed the NCL Prima last summer. They have a no extra charge restaurant called The Local that specializes in comfort food. I only wish we had discovered it before our last dinner. My dessert was a hot fudge sundae which was incredibly good! 😊😊😊😊😊 For our main course, we both had fish and chips, a true comfort food.
  8. Sounds like the same people who wrote the press release for the Princess Medallion.
  9. I also do not understand. Tried (not on a cruise ship) those beyond burgers and did not like them too much like meat. I have not eaten meat for so long that I do not miss it or want the taste of it.
  10. A nickel here, a dime here, and soon you have $5.
  11. Never been to Las Vegas, and have no desire to go there. The first time I was ever in a casino was our honeymoon (1977) in Paradise Island, the Bahamas. We just walked through. There is not a casino in my neck of the woods. I've been there but never gambled. The first time was both to just go there and to see Slam Allen (who you and I discussed in another thread and used to be on the Epic) in concert. The second time was for a class reunion. Our class was given a room.to meet in. If you are ever in my neck of the woods, Bethel Woods is a great concert site. It is where the original Woodstock concert was held in 1969. There is also a museum dedicated to the Woodstock concert and the 1960s.
  12. Since you 2 are fans, let me add some information about him. He started as a youth playing with the Allen Brothers Band, his uncle Cecil on guitar, his uncle Buddy (an old friend of mine) on saxophone, and his late father Harrison Sr. on bass. Slam played drums with them. Professionally before going out on his own, he was the lead guitar and singer for the James Cotton Blues Band.
  13. Plus, he's really a very nice guy as well as a fine musician. We have seen him a few times in the local area. And I have his first CD autographed by him.
  14. One exception to the credit not applied until after you take the excursion is if you book onboard an excursion to the airport with a stop. It is not credited immediately, but it is credited before you take the excursion. Otherwise, it would not be credited until after you left the ship. That was our experience with an excursion to the airport in Reykjavik with a stop at the Perclan Museum.
  15. To clarify, the pictures of the food we saw was not on the menus. They were posted on the window of the restaurant and caught our attention.
  16. We've also only been on Gate 1 escorted tours (and are leaving next week for one of their river cruises!), and have been happy with the meals that they provided. But of course, it has been established that we are not foodies
  17. And sometimes there is a failure to communicate. For one of our non-provided escorted tour dinners, we found a restaurant with pictures outside. One was an eggplant dish. We both like eggplant, DW even more than me. We asked is it stuffed with meat, and were told no, Then we ordered it, and they had no idea what we were ordering. 🤣 So we went outside and pointed to the picture. And now they knew what we were ordering. But it came stuffed with MEAT. 🤦‍♂️ We did our best and ate just the eggplant part. And I do realize a foodie would never eat at a restaurant with pictures outside, but our research is geared to things like museums, not restaurants.
  18. No, they are pronounced much differently. Plus one is capitalized and one is not.
  19. Hey, lima bean loaf does not come from here, but from my DW before being my wife lived on Long Island. I think she gets recipes from vegetarian cookbooks like Diet for a Small Planet. But I do not know where the lima bean loaf recipe comes from.
  20. We were one of the many who missed Isafjordur on the Prima. We had a private tour booked and I can confirm that they want the money in advance. Also with the vendor we used it said that if the ship did not make the port, she would keep 5% as she had expenses. Then it became obvious that we were going to miss the port, and I let her know. She now said it sounds like you want to cancel in which case we would get nothing back. No,no, we want to go, but we do not think it will be possible. And then when it was confirmed that we would not go, I let her know along with the proof that the ship was not docking there. She now intended to take 40% of our payment as she said this was not weather related. I would have complained to our credit card company if she had not come off of that. (I'm sure part was she was pissed as I imagine with the Prima missing the port every cruise she lost a lot of business.) She then said she would return all but 10%, still more than her terms which we had agreed to, but so little actual money difference that it was not worth hassling about.
  21. Actually, the foods we eat on a cruise are not the same as at home. No kidney bean burgers, black bean burgers, lentil patties, or lima bean loaf that I remember on a ship. Now lima bean loaf is interesting. Her youngest sister told me about it, lima beans, peanut butter, bread crumbs, and milk are the ingredients. When I was told about it, her sister was making fun of it, but then said, you'd probably like that. And we still eat it.
