  1. How did Mark injure his hand (if it's okay to share that info)? Mark is the best guitar player we've come across on Viking.
  2. I have never tried that, but I find that a self-adhesive card holder stuck to the back of my phone works well.
  3. I think the point is, "what did they know, and when did they know it?"
  4. I agree. I think the notification came a few days after the NW Passage pax could cancel.
  5. And, right, we pay nothing to our agent. We pay Viking directly through ACH. That is what gives us the 3.3% discount. Our agent has nothing to do with these payments. Although she does send a reminder to do that about 10 days in advance.
  6. Yes, we use a promo code with the Viking agent. We get that discount. The booking is transferred to our travel agent. We log into MVJ and any excursions or SSBP we book is at the 3.3% discount. The final payment is a 3.3% discount. In addition, we receive refundable OBC from our TA.
  7. Dear Viking Guest, Thank you for choosing Viking for your upcoming Far East & Alaska voyage. We would like to take a moment to advise you of a change in your itinerary. As you may be aware, schedule or itinerary changes may become necessary due to a number of variables. In this instance, we are unable to secure sufficient motor coaches in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. As a result, we will now spend an additional day in Seward, Alaska in place of Dutch Harbor. The port order has also been slightly revised: Date Original Itinerary Revised Itinerary May 4, 2024 Dutch Harbor, Alaska Day at Sea May 5, 2024 Day at SeaKodiak, Alaska May 6, 2024 Kodiak, AlaskaSeward, Alaska May 7, 2024 Seward, AlaskaSeward, Alaska To see your updated itinerary in full, please visit MyVikingJourney. A shore excursion program for your additional day in Seward will be available to book shortly on MyVikingJourney. Your Kodiak shore excursion program has been adjusted automatically. Thank you for your understanding. We trust you will find the alternative arrangements enjoyable. Should you have any questions regarding this update before your departure, please contact your Travel Advisor or Viking at 1-855-300-3970, between 5:00 AM and 7:00 PM, PT. We look forward to welcoming you on board and wish you a wonderful journey. Sincerely, Viking
  8. @MikeyB you might want to look at the new itinerary that came in your email.
  9. You would think that with that many people in the ocean, the guides remedy wouldn't be necessary.
  10. You are so fortunate you were able to do the toboggan ride. We had that excursion booked last year on our TA, but were not able to dock. I would love to hear about it. It looks like it would be a lot of fun.
  11. I know what you’re saying, but is it at least mixed with vinegar?🤦🏻‍♀️
  12. Have you checked with Neptune? I’ve heard they get everything.
  13. We are joining Orion in HK in 12 days and we are looking forward to it! Since we have been on many Viking cruises and ships, we are curious as to whether we have encountered some of the officers and staff before. There is usually a screen showing the Ship's officers on Deck 1 on the port side to the front of the aft elevators. If anyone on board could post a photo of same that would be great. We heard that they have changed some officers a couple of days ago?
  14. Good tips, and if you go to MVJ and look at stateroom preferences, you can ask for hypoallergenic bedding and you will get foam pillows.
  15. And we are forever hopeful. 🙄
  16. When I read it, I thought it might be Northern Lights.
  17. We always book directly with Viking and transfer to our travel agent. Our PIF is made directly to Viking through ACH so that we can get the 3.3% deduction. We also use that method for booking excursions and if we purchase SSBP. We've never had to make a payment through our TA.
  18. You're lucky! We crossed the Equator on the Amazon. We got the certificate, but missed out on the spectacle. Enjoy!
  19. All very good points! And you are right, a crew member might well be going to Shoppers in Halifax. In our case, the ship is turning around and headed north, so U.S. $ it is then. Thanks much for your perspective.
  20. You have us beat! We're usually around 9:00. But we have made it to Torshavn........once. 😴😴
  21. Thanks much @Jim Avery. My question was specific to docking in Vancouver and given the docking location, should we tip in Canadian or USD? Thanks for bringing Asian currency into the discussion. I'm not sure I would have pursued that. But now going back to what @OneSixtyToOne said at the beginning -- this may be overthinking. Thanks again for your perspective.
  22. Did you look at the The Sebel Auckland Viaduct Harbour. We've booked that for March next year.
  23. Hey, 🙂 I love off-topic discussions. I think they can be very informative. But before we get into that again, can I just get back to what @Jim Avery said about tipping in Asian currency once docked in Vancouver. We will probably have both HKD and Japanese Yen. Anyone else can chime in on this too. Should we stick to USD? Or go with Asian currency?
  24. Yes, I had a hydrafacial on board a few cruises ago. It was nice, but it didn’t deliver on its promise to “remove years”.
