  1. It is indeed a stellar deal us solo (this time) cruisers...I must have run 4 or 5 mock bookings because I couldn't believe how much I would 'save'...lol...not to mention avoiding the solo sup...
  2. On our last cruise, I mentioned to our headwaiter (whom we had gotten to know quite well) that we would be giving a very good review for his assistant (because he deserved it!) and he confided that that would be well-timed as it would be very helpful for his upcoming review. So I would gather that good reviews are at least as important as the cash. But I would also imagine that it may be somewhat dependent on the management structure on the particular cruise line... As you said though, cash *and* a good review covers all the bases 😁
  3. Precisely what we do...(over and above the included gratuities...)
  4. Sign on a bumper sticker: "I have no cruise control! (The cruises just keep booking themselves!)"
  5. Same here. Booked a suite in January for less than Princess was going to charge me for a balcony with a partial obstructed view! Hard to beat...
  6. I forget the name of the service we used...but just as a further benchmark, it was 157 Euros for 4 adults and a teenager in a nice Mercedes van. Well worth it imo... This was mid-June of this year... (the service jwlane posted sounds very familiar...lol...)
  7. You can never be sure with a website...lol. Like right now...when I click on Manage Reservation, it says I have $300 OBC. Then I scroll down and click on Book Excursions. Its says $900 OBC in upper right corner of that page. What to do, what to do...ðŸĪ”
  8. No worries. As DCPIV said, they will come. I had the same thing on my Caribbean cruise (coming in Jan 2023)...absolutely nothing for Aruba or Curacao...then suddenly they started to trickle in.
  9. judgyiness? Didn't see that one coming...ðŸĪ”
  10. I was unaware that RCL did this! How much OBC does one get for 100 shares? (My friend has 1000! But he's not cruising right now...)
  11. Just as a follow-up, Celebrity excursions for my January cruise have, this morning, started showing up. Thanks to everyone for their posts... Happy cruising!
  12. Thanks for this. For some reason (maybe like I didn't enter the right criteria 😂), they didn't show up on my earlier searches...
  13. Thank you...it was very helpful. I now know what to expect...
  14. Newbie to X...I booked an ABCs Caribbean tour in January. When I had a look at excursions they offered, there were none offered for Aruba and Curacao. I am assuming that means they are sold out. Is that how X does it? Or perhaps it means they haven't lined any up as yet? (But I would think they would have some set up since the sailing is only 4 months distant...) I ask because Princess will show the excursion but it will say 'Sold Out' or 'waitlisted'. This is not a big deal as I can book/create my own excursions but I just want to know if this is how X does it. Thanks...
  15. Thank you! That is precisely what I wanted to know. In my OP I asked: Is this just bad wording (imo) and is the normal thing to find in their confirmation letter?? So it's their standard wording. That could use a little re-working imo...
  16. Thanks, I think so, too. It seems obvious. But I will check just to be sure. It's the wording in that email that bugs me. I certainly do not want to show up and then find out there is a problem.
  17. Thanks to everyone for your responses. I'll be calling customer support again. Just in case. Being somewhat OCD 🙂, I took screenshots of the entire booking process. At no time is there a box or screen indicating any discount whatsoever for anything. Which is why I am concerned about this wording. However, in the guest invoice I received from customer support are the following lines: Booking Charge Guest #1 Guest #2 Guest #3 Guest #4 Total BOGO60 SGL -776.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 -776.00 So I need to ask CS just what BOGO60 SGL is. Also, the guest invoice says nothing about military, police/fire discount...unless that is what BOGO60 SGL stands for. In which case I would have expected the CS person to tell me that. Looks like more hold time on the phone...unless someone here knows what the BOGO60 SGL code means. I sure don't...this is my first cruise with X...not the way I wanted to start out ðŸĪŠ ETA: And looking at Manage My Reservation online it has under OFFERS: DISCOUNT - $776.00 USD with no mention of what the discount is for...
  18. Thanks for your info. I did get support to send me an detailed invoice. Like you, I also took (a bunch) a screenshot of the final screen verifying my cruise fare and the rest. Thanks again...
  19. After booking a Caribbean cruise for January a couple nights ago, I received my confirmation email and in it was: "A valid driver's license, state-issued ID, proper military identification, or proper proof of fire/police employment (badge or ID) will be required for validation at the pier. If age, state of residency, military, or fire/police participation cannot be validated, you will be charged the standard rate or denied boarding." It sounds like I'm expected to be a member of the military or fire/police organization (which I am not) and that I'm getting a discount for such. And I did not check anything (there was nothing to check) that indicated I was. Is this just bad wording (imo) and is the normal thing to find in their confirmation letter?? Thanks!
  20. sed if your booking qualifies for any amenity these will be applied within 10 business days. these will be applied within 10 b advised if your booking qualifies for any amenity these will be applied within 10 business d Haven't ever seen this before on any cruise line website. The balance due when I booked it two nights ago was 1636.99. The next morning when I checked the reservation, it was 2300.19! And none of the packages were displayed. I called support and (30 minutes later) I spoke to a nice person who said it would all settle out in the next ten days. She also send me an invoice (which had the correct amount). It does have the following in the invoice: Please be advised if your booking qualifies for any amenity these will be applied within 10 business days. Later in the day it went back to the expected amount. This morning, it was 1900 and change. Just now it was 1859.19. Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing? I'll wait out the 10 days but this is rather strange...it being my first Celebrity cruise and all. (I also had some strange wording in my confirmation email but I'll start another topic for that...)
  21. Hi! Did you end up staying in E526? I'm asking because I booked that cabin for an upcoming cruise. I would appreciate hearing your impressions of that stateroom. Thanks!
  22. "My suspicion is that something happens in the app when credit card and other information is carried forward to another cruise." Aha! That is a definite possibility for me! This information was pushed forward from a previous cruise. I'll keep this in mind when I book the next cruise. I'm with you about mucking around in the app. When I first started using it, it was pretty awful. Entering our passport information was ridiculous. The camera function wouldn't work and there was no widget for entering dates. ( I note that the date widget was present in other parts of the app, but I digress...) One had to click back, month by month, until one reached the year of one's birthday. At 72, that's a lot of clicks. Very...very...painful. (Just have a look at the google reviews...) Android phone btw. The app has improved over the last, say, 4 months or so. I don't know if the camera/dates passport section has been fixed...I sure hope so as that is not a good way to impress new cruisers! Oh, wanted to add that the app did work great on the cruises. Was able to order items anywhere on the ship, etc.
  23. I did do all that. I always have printouts and screenshots before leaving. I wouldn't even think of *not* doing it. And as I mentioned, DW never even used the app. At no time did she ever enter any information, let alone the credit card info. Yet she was the owner and I was the authorized user. (Not that it really mattered...but I can be a tad OC...lol...)
