  1. Certificates are returned to your account as long as they haven't expired.
  2. While a TA or PCC might say something, its not really up to the cruise line to advise people on how to get to the ship. But they give you a $25 credit if you choose to fly in early. Many people book directly from the website and never speak to anyone at NCL - so even if NCL were to provide such advice, it would probably be embedded in the same T&Cs that people obviously don't read LOL!
  3. No contradiction. Point being difference between before and after final payment. Bids add income from reservations that are already committed and can't be changed without penalty. I once got an upgrade -ov to balcony - shortly after final payment, because I was in a sold out category. But never heard of anybody getting offers to bid prior to final payment date.
  4. Bidding is for upgrading after final payment. There would be no purpose in allowing bidding while people are free to cancel/upgrade without penalties. Keep in mind the bidding process is for NCL to increase income.
  5. They don't care who sleeps where, and you can set it up so each person has a separate billing account. But remember that the $50 excursion credit goes to guest #1 in each room.
  6. Can't find the post now but I saw something earlier about quite a few medical emergencies, including 2 today. Pretty sure it was the Bliss.
  7. I didn't get one but my Seward-Vancouver trip on the Jewel has no solo supplement (inside & OV), so essentially half price. Will use my points to upgrade to a balcony so not complaining - this time anyway!
  8. I'm ok with my economy class, usually pay for added leg-room on longer flights - I fly from a small regional airport in Oregon, so leg 1 will always be to a hub and ticketing is a little more complex, so NCL saves me time and effort, as well as money - at least on international flights. Last summer I flew to Reykjavik, returning from London, total: $600. Direct flights both ways after 1 flight to appropriate hub, Seattle to Reyjkavik, London to LAX. So less comfort but security?? Booking yourself doesn't necessarily guarantee you any better flights or prevent issues with your flights. LOL- it doesn't matter if you are in business or economy if a flight is delayed or cancelled.
  9. That's funny. Cxxx gives 3% for travel. Unless they give you 5% if you book through them and it's considered a Cxxx purchase - no personal experience. But I just used my NCL points to upgrade to a balcony on an upcoming trip. I paid $300 in points value, the value of the upgrade is about $1,700. Trip #2, upgrade is worth nearly $3K. So my measly 3% on $20k in purchases ($600) is currently worth well over $4k. That's on top of the trips I've already taken, using points upgrades. And I still have the option to bid, plus use the BOGO airfare - neither option offered through Cxxx. But YMMV.
  10. Good question - and the answer may depend on the ship - or just specific circumstances. I had SH OBC on my last cruise. At the beginning of the cruise, I got $100 cash in the casino and bought 2 CNs. My account showed I owed $253, meaning it appeared as though they'd applied the SH OBC. But as pointed out, the app could be somewhat deceptive. Later on I also got another $100 NR OBC due to a missed port. Later in the cruise I cancelled a couple of excursions and had a port credit, so also ended up with some refundable credits. All in all, I only spent about $50 on things covered by NR OBC. Yet I got a cash refund at the end of the cruise. Not complaining, YMMV!
  11. If you have a sea day prior to Victoria then it's normally a full day stop. If coming from another port, Victoria is a quick stop to satisfy foreign port regulations.
  12. I assume the limit is on the certificates, not the cc, assuming you have the credit available. It used to be 8. You might be able to purchase for others if you know their latitudes # - no harm in asking.
  13. As far as I know, there haven't been any special onboard promos since the 10% last September. But recently I was told you had to buy CNCs before they would work with you on repricing or doing an onboard upgrade for an existing reservation. I don't know if that's fleet wide or just the policy for that team.
  14. Normally they will automatically remove it if you request a deviation and/ or book an airport transfer excursion. But if not, yes you have to call or use chat.
  15. To clarify, what you are describing sounds like a CruiseFirst certificate, which is different than FCC. Those can only be used 4 months after purchase, so it would depend on when you bought it.
  16. To clarify, the ground transfer isn't "included" - you pay for it, they remove it if you don't want/need it. In the past, I have sometimes stayed near the airport and gone back to the airport and taken the shuttle. Getting NCL to understand what you want to do can sometimes be an issue but it's usually worked out. However, on my last trip, my transfer was cancelled at the last minute - no notification, other than a new statement that had the transfer cost removed. When I called NCL, assuming it was a mistake, I was told I couldn't go back to the airport for "security" reasons. So I'm not sure what was going on - but there was no issue with security (I did an online chat with the airport). No comment from NCL when I called them on their fake answer. On the plus side, I changed hotels, the hotel shuttle met me at the airport and the cab ride to the port cost about $5. So I worked it out and it ended up being wayyy cheaper, but as a solo female traveler, I'm not always comfortable "winging it" in locations where I do not speak the language.
  17. And I repeat - the AIRLINE owns the booking 72hrs before scheduled departure. The point you are trying to make was quite clear but INCORRECT. And I am actually speaking from several personal experiences, the most recent about 10 days ago, although I was on my way home so time wasn't as critical. Flight 1, as scheduled. Flight 2, delayed by 30 minutes, making the connection for flight 3 a no-go. I went to the counter as I was already at the airport, they looked up what was available and like magic, I had a later reservation for flight 3. No NCL involvement whatsoever. The one thing I have learned after having to reschedule more than once, is to do your homework and know what your options will be if you do need to reschedule. Twice when I've had to have the airline rebook my flights, their initial choice wasn't that favorable and I had to steer them in the direction of the best option (and on their own airline no less!)
  18. You can book at the prevailing rate, using any current promos/discounts. Many people did exactly that when I was on the Dawn in South Africa. Only guaranteed discount would be within category upgrade but the CN manager might be able to use a little magic to get a little better upgrade, depending on the ship capacity. I don't see any reason that a valid FCC certificate couldn't be used - but if it's FCC from a price drop on the current cruise, then no, as that's not valid until after the cruise is completed.
  19. Guess you missed the part where the airline controls your reservation 72hrs prior - something clearly stated on your airline confirmation. So of course it would be stressful to call NCL just to be told to call the airline. On the day of flying your position is no better or worse than if you'd booked the flight yourself - unless of course you are on a delayed NCL-arranged flight and the ship/transfer busses happen to be in a position to wait. Which does bring up another point - if you are delayed getting to a port and running late- initial embarkation or along the way - CALL NCL to let them know your situation!!! They might be able to wait or give you instructions for getting to the next port, etc. They definitely won't wait if they don't know you are on your way but late. This was the advice given by a ship captain on a recent cruise....
  20. Guessing you've never used BOGO so simply speculation on your part. NCL controls your reservation until 72 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Schedule changes within 14 days - expect 1-2 business days for corrected itinerary. More than 14 days, expect 7 business days. Knock on wood, never had an issue with rebooking NCL flights missed for whatever reason - no different than when I've missed flights I booked myself. On the other hand, when my flight on SAS was in jeopardy because of a potential strike, NCL proactively rebooked my flight - completely different airlines and route. Would have been very expensive and time-consuming had I booked my own flights.

  22. Rather than the ATM on board, you can also get cash from the casino. It's a 3% charge, so cheaper than the ATM (5.95) if you are getting less than $200. It's a purchase, not a cash advance, so no additional fees - assuming your cards work the same as my US cards would work in Europe. My cards have no foreign transaction fees, bank does the currency conversion at their regular rate.
