Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Does anybody know how the 60% off cruise fair is priced? Is it priced off the current offer of 75% off second guest and $$ savings per stateroom? I know, have to probably call Blue Chip. I was just trying to avoid the 2 hour wait time and just see how the discount is computed. I have taken advantage of Blue Chip offers in the past and was lucky enough to get a complimentary veranda. Just had to pay port charges and taxes. Also, I am only Pearl and don’t gamble much at all and have been receiving these offers since last year. Even after taking one of these cruises in December and not gambling a lot we are still receiving them.
  2. And if I remember correctly, on the Apex they had 2 Peloton bikes. The peloton bikes have their classes on the monitor on the bike. You pick a class and go. I have a peloton at home so I was able to log into my account and access classes that way. I don’t know if you don’t have an account if you can use the bikes to take a Peloton class as a guest. I don’t think so? There was also another small room off to the side where they had spin bikes. I believe those were with classes led by one of the fitness instructors. Those you have to sign up for and also cost extra $.
  3. I was on the Apex this past December. There was a sign up sheet in the fitness center for the Peloton bikes. I went on the first day and signed up for the time slots that I wanted. The rest of the equipment (treadmills etc.) did not require a sign up or reservation.
  4. I would call Blue Chip. We received an offer in the Fall. One of the cruises to choose from was a 8 night Eastern on the Reflection. We called and wanted to get more information then decided to think on it for a day. Called back and was told that there were no more cabins available for that cruise. The person I spoke with then offered a 7 night on the Apex which wasn’t on our original list of offers. So you just never know. I have found that calling Blue Chip you can talk to 3 different people and get 3 different answers. Not much consistency. Worth a call in my opinion.
  5. 6. Honestly, whenever you call Blue Chip you will get a different answer depending on who you talk to. We recently sailed on the Apex with our Blue Chip offers. The original email came under my husbands name. Called blue chip just to get more information since we never had acted on one of their offers. First person we talked to said up to 4 people in the cabin, no problem! Took some time to think and then called back to book. This time was told no, only 2 people in a cabin for offer, after 2 the others pay going rate. Which was crazy expensive. Called again to see if I had an offer since my husband had one. Was told yes. Then told no. Finally was able to book on the Apex for our family of five. Two rooms. One under my husband with 2 people and then one under my name with 3 people. The third did not have to pay anything over port charges and taxes. Oh, and the cruise that we originally wanted to book was not available any longer but she was able to pull up several sailings which were not even on our original offer. The cruise that we took was a Christmas cruise not even listed. Absolutely no consistency with Blue Chip. You can always try calling again to see if they tell you something different or maybe another sailing is available. Good luck!
  7. We have had the same issues with blue chip. My husband was the one receiving the email offers. Decided to call to get further info..First person we spoke with said bring up to 4 people in a cabin no problem. Asked him to check if I had one under my name as well. He said that I did. Hung up and decided to think about what we wanted to do. Called back once we decided that we wanted to book. Person we talked to said offer was only good for 2 people in a cabin and that I didn’t have an offer only my husband. Hung up and called again. Was told that yes we both had offers but the sailing we wanted wasn’t available. She did some checking and offered us a completely different sailing than any that were listed on our original offer. So, it seems like you do get a different answer every time that you call. No consistency at all and the wait times are very long. It ended up being worth it though. We got 2 IV cabins on the Apex Christmas cruise for a few hundred dollars each. Priced out that cruise and same rooms would have been over $7000.
  8. Just returned from the Apex Christmas cruise. I tried making reservations from the Celebrity app before we sailed. There was no availability for any restaurant until 9:00pm..I was worried that we would have to eat in the Ocean View cafe every night for dinner. I even went right to one of the restaurants after we boarded and still no availability. We just decided to show up and see what happened. We were able to get seated every night. We went around 6:30 and never had an issue or had to wait. So don’t worry too much about not making your reservations ahead of time.
  9. My husband and I both received Blue Chip offers. We decided to take our whole family on a cruise over the Christmas holiday. We booked one room with me and my daughter and then the other with my husband and two sons. We did not have to pay an additional amount for the third person in the cabin. The cabin for 3 is costing us $164.94 per person which is port charges and taxes ($495.82 total). We still have to pay gratuities. So for $825.70 (plus gratuities), we have two infinite verandas booked on the Apex for a holiday cruise. Definitely can’t touch that price if I would have done a normal booking. It has been my experience that each time you call, you can get a different answer. When I first called, they said that both my husband and myself had blue chip offers. After discussing it and deciding we were going to do it, I called back, got a different person and they told me that only my husband had an offer and nothing u dear my name. Called back again, got another person and had no problem proceeding with the booking.
  10. We booked a cruise through one of the Blue Chip offers. We wanted to add the beverage package. We called Blue Chip to see if they offered any discount (we are only Pearl tier on Blue Chip). We also called Captains Club (we are Select tier). Captains Club priced out a bit cheaper than Blue Chip so we are going to go with CC. I don’t know if the per day price varies by ship or if they are looking to sell more so they discount it more. I have religiously checked my cruise planner and the discount offered there is 9%.
  11. We booked a free veranda cruise as well. Also lowly Pearl level. Called BCC to price out adding on beverage package. Also called Captains Club. Prices were a bit cheaper with our CC discount. We are Select. So will probably call and add on through CC.
  12. We just returned from our cruise on the Westerdam (7/3-7/10). I booked an aft balcony a couple of months before the sailing. About 2 weeks before, I received an email for a chance to upgrade to a Signature suite for $199pp or Neptune suite for $300pp..I decided to keep our aft balcony. Then about a week out, I received another offer for Signature suite for $99pp or Neptune for $199pp..I ended up taking the Signature suite for $198 total. I figured that the Neptune was just more space than we needed. When I called, there were over 25 Signiture suites to pick from. I booked directly online with Holland America.
