  1. Will be interested in your feedback dude - bon voyage.
  2. Mine always used to turn everything off I’m sure ! Apple says When you turn on Airplane Mode, it turns off all radios except for Bluetooth. If you turn off Bluetooth while you're in Airplane Mode, your device will remember the next time you turn on Airplane Mode. I think because last time I used airplane mode on board I switched Bluetooth and WiFi back on - and it remembered !!! Anyway as you said only cellular really matters
  3. Just checked picsa - default is cellular only but if you then manually also turn off WiFi and or Bluetooth it will remember you have done this and incorporate into airplane mode next time you use it. you are correct - I didn’t realise this . Just looked it up . Thanks for correcting
  4. Thanks picsa - just checked iOS remembers if you also manually switched off wifi and or Bluetooth last time you used airplane mode and it will switch these off as well next time you use airplane mode. But you are correct the default now is cellular only - I didn’t know that.
  5. sorry if already mentioned. When Flight mode is turned on you need to switch WiFi on to use the ship WiFi and the onboard website. So turn flight mode on - this switches everything off - then next turn only your wifi on. This way mobile data etc is all off and only WiFi is on. I have Vodafone and 4G mobile data and calls when docked is not usually expensive - about £2/day but you can buy weekly package. My contract includes EU roaming.
  6. We did the toboggans once. Scraping slowly down a road. I wouldn’t recommend it. cable car was good.
  7. My mistake - sorry I didn’t realise they did this .
  8. No - the ATOL is not the travel insurance - (it’s a protection in case the travel company go bust) Which company did you buy the travel insurance from ? Normally Marella and others recommend companies like holiday extras for travel insurance but I have never heard of buying travel insurance through the cruise company directly. ?
  9. I always think I will or have forgotten something and it’s getting worse - I keep double checking everything and it drives my wife mad. Also check you have : FX, Cash , bank cards, glasses , any medicines you need, driving licence, GHIC card, phone and watch, any travel cards you may have in case you need to use public transport if something goes wrong with car/transport. maybe some masks. Charging cables / adapters and home keys!! I also take a copy of the holiday confirmation with booking ref number and payments made and excursions booked flight numbers and times etc Hope you have a great trip -
  10. Had a trim on saga recently-similar price. I was curious to try it. Not a very good cut - miserable barber who didn’t even ask if I had been on any holidays recently ! Was mute the whole time. Not worth it - unless in an emergency after self cutting or wife cutting has gone badly wrong.
  11. Thanks for report - I will be following . hope you have a great cruise.
  12. I booked that one as well. Good price select balcony and OBC and parking. Also booked Aurora 7 days in September. If it’s poor then may cancel the December one and go with Marella instead - or maybe Ambassador. Hoping things will improve by then - assuming Aurora still going.
  13. Completely agree - a dedicated section of isolation cabins that are not available to book. Not a boring subject - this is very important to me as we are very careful about what cabins we choose and I would hate to have it changed last minute.
  14. Still need to be fully vaccinated I think for p&o Marella etc ? It’s just the testing that’s changed isn’t it ? For adults anyway.
  15. 👍 We did similar on Adonia - Azores were fantastic. We loved the journey out - getting warmer everyday.
  16. I also like going all the way and back from Southampton with p&o. I think the entertainment especially pre dinner music is better on Marella and it’s a more relaxed and fun cruise generally. The staff on Marella are brilliant. hard to choose ! I have Marella booked in may to Croatia / Italy and p&o Portugal in September and canaries in December.
  17. Both good - Marella are all inclusive so that might swing it. Marella Explorer 2 is adults only. P&O is a higher standard. I did a cruise and stay in the Caribbean once - I found that an extra week on the ship is better than a week staying in a hotel so I would just do the cruise and not the hotel. Jan / Feb are good times to go.
  18. On Fred Olsen in St Petersburg I could not get any indigestion tablets as similarly no simple meds available in the shop onboard . In a lot of pain. Ships Doctor would not sell me a small bottle of Gaviscon from the surgery unless I made a £100 appointment as it was “not on his list” as available off shelf. Could not get off ship to a chemist as no independent visa for Russia. Eventually customer service manager gave me some of his own and saved my day. Now my Holiday list has Lemsip, Asprin, and indigestion tablets in caps and bold. Thanks for updates.
