  1. This is really good advice. You should also research at the price increase to go to a Oceanview, as sometimes the delta over an interior isn't that great.
  2. But, but, but, the art auctioneer assured us that the $15,000 Peter Max they were selling would appreciate in value! Are you telling us that they'd LIE????? :sarc:
  3. OP, you also never said what airline you were booked on. If you're flying on Frontier or Spirit you may be SOL regarding much assistance from the airline in the event of a cancellation. Also, my guess is you don't have any status on the airline, which also makes a difference, like it or not. Is your flight from SEA direct to Houston, or do you stop in Denver or somewhere? A direct flight would at least eliminate the risk of missing a connecting flight if your SEA flight left late. Anyway, good luck and safe travels.
  4. I asked one of the ACDs who ran the trivia for his ship if he had to come up with the trivia questions or if they got the questions from the home office. He said they had to develop their own questions and that they had a large bank of questions developed over the years that were reused on cruises. Some of them had a "theme" such as Halloween questions leading up to Halloween. He also said they tried not to repeat questions on B2B cruises, but sometimes it was unavoidable. He also said they tried to make the questions culturally relevant to the guests on the cruise. Meaning when they sailed from Southampton with a lot of UK cruisers, they didn't do American sports or history trivia and vice versa. So take his comments for what they're worth, but that's what I was told.
  5. I hope they show Puppy Bowl XX beforehand. That's much better than the 6 hours of blather of pre-game shows!
  6. Unless they're using chain saws, it's a hard pass! 😎
  7. I was stretching in the room off the fitness center where the footprint seminar was going on. The very fit looking sales guy was pitching $500-750 per pair orthotics to several women who were holding their footprints and listening very intently. I must say he was a very handsome dude in a tight tee shirt, so perhaps that was what was causing the attention.
  8. Another presentation to avoid is the one in the fitness center where they take your footprint and then try to sell you orthotics for your shoes.
  9. 3/4ths of the "art" I see in the Princess Art Galleries is hideous. And the other 1/4th is Thomas Kinkade.
  10. You need to bust this out: Browning Men's Safety Vest - 710966, Hunting Vests at Sportsman's Guide (sportsmansguide.com)
  11. Get something like this: Samurai Heathered LS Performance Hoodie | Sale – AFTCO and wear it as a base layer under a long-sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, fleece, or sweater. It will help provide lightweight warmth during the cooler part of the trip and do double duty as a sun shirt when you get to Hawai'i. I wore one of these with a twill shirt and a sweater on my eastern Med cruise in early December and stayed nice and warm. Add a rain jacket if it rains (or is windy) and you should be set. Living in Georgia you may already have the SPF 50 swim shirts that are very popular in the South. They can also serve as the base layer.
  12. What you said is undoubtedly true, but the port calls in Haifa and Ashod have already been stricken from the itinerary. This is an understandable and prudent action, but it was taken over a year before the sailing of the Dubai>Rome leg of the WC.
  13. For what it's worth, StockPerks uses the Plaid network (What is Plaid? | Plaid) to connect to a brokerage account where your CCL shares reside. It then verifies to Princess (or other Carnival US brands) that you do in fact own the required shares and is much easier than faxing/emailing copies of redacted brokerage statements to Santa Clarita. Only you (or your husband) can determine if you want to do it this way, but I'd not be surprised if eventually the option of emailing brokerage statements goes away entirely.
  14. I used the StockPerks app to apply for S/H OBC on a HAL cruise (all Carnival Corp lines are using StockPerks) and had the OBC in my account in about 3 hours. I did use the Plaid connection and so didn't have to submit a copy of my monthly account summary.
  15. Here's a link to that tour: Rome-Italy Tour - Undiscovered Medieval Towns and Renaissance Gardens North of Rome not far from Civitavecchia (toursbylocals.com) I also booked this tour, but ended up having to cancel it: Rome-Italy Tour - A walk in the History - Rome full day walking tour (toursbylocals.com)
  16. Check out Tours By Locals. I found a great guide through that website for a small group on a turnaround day in Civitavecchia who took us all through the Etruscan countryside and ended with lunch at her apartment prepared by her husband. It was a wonderful day.
  17. My favorite was Bellini's in the Atrium.
  18. If you knit or crochet, there's usually a gaggle of gals who sit in a circle and talk about their grandkids while them make various handcrafted items. Crooners in the morning was always a preferred spot for them to hang out. Check out the Roll Call for the cruise and see what other are setting up.
  19. Do you pay full fare for a 16-month-old child? And if you buy Plus or Premier, does the kid have to get that too? Or did Caligirl pay a single supplement and have her child come along for "free"?
  20. Thanks. Reading fine print was never my specialty! Has this changed in the past year? I thought I'd used a gift card to pay the crew appreciation charge on a HAL cruise in early 2023?
  21. I am trying to pre-pay my crew appreciation charges using a HAL gift card and the website doesn't want to accept the gift card when I go to try to check out. I must be missing a step somewhere, but I can't figure out what that is. Any help?
  22. May the Lord have mercy on the souls of those aboard Ruby for the next 3 months. I hope there are some good ACDs on the staff.
  23. That is very good news for those on Island for the WC. Jacklyn Friedlander was an exceptionally poor CD, IMHO.
