  1. Troll is regularly recommended on TripAdvisor.
  2. Self driving in Iceland is pretty easy, once you navigate out of the city streets. I hang out on the TripAdvisor Iceland forum and I've never heard anyone mention an audio guide. Where do you want to explore in the area?
  3. You might also want to check the Iceland forum at Tripadvisor (sister company to CruiseCritic). It is a very active forum with lots of excursion advice. A few of us hang out there, too.
  4. Which bus? The buses from Airport to City (and vice versa) require tickets, but you can buy them at the airport. Not sure how you buy from city to airport if not online. We did buy from hotel desk, but that was 10 years ago. Easy to buy online.
  5. Just finishing up planning our big 2024 trip (Africa), hoping to do this in 2025 or 2026 (or similar) so glad to be tagged here for easy retrieval later
  6. Ahhh! Clarity!! Thanks! @pch, I'm not sure about luggage lockers there, but you could leave your bags at your hotel until you are ready to go to the ship, I think taxi would be the best options, if the cruiseline isn't offering a transfer
  7. I've never found a ship transfer in a city to be cheaper for 2 people (or more) than grabbing a cab or uber
  8. Depends on if the tunnel is closed that day. They've been shutting one of them down fairly often for upgrades
  9. For future posters, there are THREE NYC Metropolitan airports, and THREE NYC Metropolitan Cruise ports. Including which airport and cruise port you are utilizing makes these questions easier to answer
  10. Sounds like a reasonable fee for an upgrade like that. Just wear a heavy coat!
  11. Sorry. I am still having trouble figuring out what you are asking. Before you talked about "airport". Now you are asking about city and ship? There are cabs in Reykjavik, if you are asking "city to ship". There is Flybus from airport to city, if you are asking that. If you are asking something else, maybe spell it out entirely? Since no one else is trying to help, maybe I'm not the only confused one here?
  12. Admins have "Host" next to their name. Not sure why you'd think I was an Admin. I saw your first post and asked if you had a question, and I tried to answer it if it was, as most posts here are questions. Then you asked if I didn't make posts like yours and I said I didn't.
  13. Generally, no, I don't just post answers unless there is a question. Unless I'm posting a trip report, where I'll include all sorts of facts about a cruise.
  14. If you list your exact dates and bedding needs and max budget per night we might be able to suggest something in Manhattan. TripAdvisor has MANY experts on the NYC board who do this all the time. LIC is great as a lower cost alternative, and is close to midtown, but there is something special about stepping out of your hotel and BEING in Manhattan that you don't get this way
  15. I have not taken the FlyBus from the cruiseport, only from a downtown hotel, with the BSI transfer. If they list the cruiseport as an option I'm not sure why it might not work
  16. Do you have a question? They are small planes in difficult conditions. And not many reasons to "dress up", so more bags aren't really needed.
  17. There is a traffic light AND police helping folks cross the street there. Tons of folks with tons of baggage, so there is lots of time to make the crossing. Might be the easiest and safest City Street Crossing you will find anywhere.
  18. Thousands of folks use Flybus every week. It is the most economical way to get from the city to the airport and vice versa. If you have 3 or more people, a taxi might make more sense, though
  19. During early summer you will see puffins and LOTS of other birds on that excursion, including Eiders
  20. It does look like a 3rd party, as their website doesn't mention their fleet or their driver info (like insurance, and similar). Almost feels like a press release.
  21. What kinds of things do you like to do? It would be a waste to suggest strenuous activities if that's not your thing, or museums if you are more of a fan of the outside. The more you tell us about you (young, old, family, seniors, interests, etc) the easier it is to help
  22. Not sure I understand your question. Are you asking how long to see all of downtown? Or something else? You can walk the main streets in 2-3 hours. Or spend much more time if you shop a bit and maybe have a meal Going up to the top of the Cathedral is a good use of time, too
  23. We do have a lengthy thread here about this option. I'm not certain of the link to the booking site, though, so won't say that you have the right one there.
  24. There are two cruise terminals, but yes, there are public parking lots near both of them. Blue car rental company is the one most recommended over at TripAdvisor, and they do have an in town location
  25. Most tours are out of Reykjavik. Troll and Arctic Adventures are the most recommended companies on TripAdvisor
