  1. It's going to be VERY cold in NYC, just pretty cool in Bermuda. I am surprised they even offer this cruise. Must be some contractual obligation, it can't be due to demand.
  2. Lots of hotels in the Seaport District. Use Google Maps and put in the cruiseport, click the Nearby button and chose hotels. They don't have "stay, park and cruise" rates, but you can contact your chosen property to see if they will quote you an extended parking rate, or you can park in one of the cruise lots for the actual cruise dates
  3. 30 minutes away coming from the south I expect you will take I-84 to I-90. That puts you near Waltham, which has lots of hotels near the highway and also has hotels in town near bus or train lines, or closer in there are a few choices in Newton that are near transit. I'd reach out to a couple that are in your budget and ask them about leaving your vehicle there for the extended period, and then plan to take transit or uber/cab to and from the port.
  4. Any place that *does* offer this won't be well located for touring Boston and will be a distance from the Cruiseport as well.
  5. Exact date and number of beds (and size) is needed for hotel help in NYC. If you really want to be close to the port, let us know how far "close" is in terms of blocks or walking time. There really are hundreds and hundreds of options. Doing a quick check on Kayak or similar will get you an idea as to what is reasonable. $200 in October is not reasonable. $200 in January is very reasonable. If your plans are for October you may have to increase that budget
  6. Last time we cruised was 5 years ago, but we gave $5/bag to porters who directly helped us with the bags
  7. The subway will be faster and cheaper. Aquarium station to Airport Station. And safe.
  8. your Antarctic cruise ends in BA? Or do they fly you there from Ushuaia? Lots of good tours in BA that you can book directly that will pick you up at the airport or port. Which one is right for you depends on how much time you have and what you want to see and do
  9. Governor's Island is great in the summer, but I can only picture it being pretty bleak that time of year. Late November/early December in Manhattan is great, with the Christmas lights up and the store windows all decorated. Lots of Christmas markets -- I am not a shopper, but the small crafty and unique gift stalls that take over Bryant Park and Union Square and other places is still fun to wander through If it was us, we'd see a Broadway or Off Broadway show during the "break", or meet local friends for a meal
  10. You will never get a good rate in a "captive" environment like on a cruise ship. Canadian stores and restaurants won't accept USD. If they do they will accept them on a 1 to 1 basis with CAD, meaning you will lose big time on the exchange rate. Most folks recommend using credit and debit cards for international transactions. You will get the bank's exchange rate which is usually as good as you can do. If your CC has No international fees you will do even better. If you know you truly will need CAD paper money, either use an ATM when you get to Canada (not in the airport) or exchange at a bank before you leave home or upon arrival in Canada. The difference in rate will be much smaller than doing so on the ship
  11. Worth the time? Absolutely Worth the money? I'm hoping to find out once I have enough money (and time) Having said that we LOVE Iceland. Been 5 times. Not quite Arctic Circle, but we love the desolation you get there. Drive down a random road and hear nothing and see no one for as far as you can see. We've been to Antarctica once and Loved it, too, but we didn't love it the same, because on a ship you can never get away from other people. We certainly learned more about everything we saw there, thanks to the incredible naturalists, and the penguins were amazing, but what we like best about getting away is getting AWAY from things and noise and people. So I'm not sure how much we'll LOVE our eventual Arctic cruise (our big dream is an "over the top of Canada" cruise), as we won't be able to saunter off on our own. But I'm sure we'll Love it!
  12. Google tells me "Most" cabs in QC take plastic, but it is advised to ask before entering. If you pay in USD you will lose the exchange rate which is pretty hefty these days. I wouldn't expect a cab to do the math and then have to deal with exchaning USD back to CAD
  13. Trader Joe's has a decent and well priced REAL Maple Syrup. It's a blend but it's not corn syrup
  14. I lived in Boston for decades and never saw them recommended or suggested. I didn't even know they had a presence. I'd go for an Uber, but I bet there are cabs out front even at 5AM
  15. I would check Spot Hero or your favorite parking app to search for alternatives. It might be worth parking further away and then Ubering to and from the ship
  16. Nothing wrong with LGA from the Manhattan pier!
  17. 1) Confirm which port 2) Tell us what YOU have always wanted to see in NYC. I expect what *I* would do (I've been in NYC for over 300 nights in the past 25 years) and what *you* would want to do are likely different. Do you really want to collect other folks' ideas? Or do you want to do what's best for you? Or you can just look at a guidebook to get that info if you have no idea of what to do and see
  18. Cambridge is generally fine, but it is pretty big and there are places on the edge that are pretty industrial and gritty. Not dangerous, just not at all attractive. Many areas are close to subway and buses, but some are not. If you can post an address here we can help let you know if it's a good choice or not
  19. Come back and post info on places you are considering. Some places claim "South End" but aren't in such great locations.
  20. Lots of parking threads here. 99.9+% don't have any issues with parking. Get there early and get on the ship and start your vacation and the worries will quickly disappear
  21. I am afraid I do not. Flyertalk is where I learned about Aerolopa, they probably know over there
  22. You're welcome. Many planes haven't changed, but so many have changed that I cringe when I see references to Seatguru as they are wrong as often as they are right. I've only used the AeroLopa site a couple of times, glad it worked for you
  23. Seatguru website hasn't been updated in many years. The same company that owns this site and TripAdvisor bought it and stopped updating it, so don't trust it Hola - aeroLOPA | Detailed aircraft seat plans is a much better and active site
