  1. Seatguru website hasn't been updated in many years. The same company that owns this site and TripAdvisor bought it and stopped updating it, so don't trust it Hola - aeroLOPA | Detailed aircraft seat plans is a much better and active site
  2. I eat out at restaurants FAR too often, and usually the card leaves my sight. Most places don't have portable readers, and I don't think many folks are asking before they sit down if that is an option and taking their business elsewhere if it isn't (or paying cash, instead) Never had a fraudulent transaction from something like this. From a skimmer at a self serve terminal? Yes. From a hotel chain employee using my card number fraudulently? Yes. Have I lost anything beyond a 5 minute call on those occasions? No.
  3. There is a good chance your Canada cellphone company can enable US calling for you for a small fee. I'd check there because even if you don't use it for a car service, it's a comfort to have it available "just in case" you need it in NYC or elsewhere in your travels
  4. Definitely hurricane related. No one wants to be at sea near a Hurricane, better to return a day early than a day late
  5. All true. I wouldn't want to be in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick the next couple days
  6. Good points, @hallasm. I expect there will be fees charged to cruiseships by the government to fund better rescue resources. I only hope it comes BEFORE there is a tragedy and not after.
  7. Depends on your excursions. We just drove a few hundred miles in Maine, on highways and backroads, and didn't see anything. We have seen moose in the past just off the side of the road, or on hikes in the woods, along with bears. No binoculars required
  8. It's very cute. We parked right along that stretch of Thames Street on Monday!
  9. I am back visiting Boston and MBTA issues are on all the news programs. It sounds like the system here is in worse disarray than it was when we moved west last summer!
  10. By the 19th, Tuesday, the storm will be well past the US and into Atlantic Canada. I can't see it having any effect on your trip assuming it gets back to Brooklyn on time from it's current sailing
  11. October is the most expensive month of the year for Boston. What is your budget, @Cruzinram? Is it safe to assume you want to be right in the city, not on the outskirts requiring a subway or commuter train to get in?
  12. Glad it worked for you, but a "3 seat ride" is not something most visitors, especially ones with luggage, would choose
  13. It is fine, but it isn't close to tourist spots, you'd need to take the MBTA Blue line to get to attractions City is close to airport. I'd stay downtown so you can drop your bags off and take advantage of your location in the city and explore. Easy to get to the airport the next day
  14. Totally agree with Turtle. So nice to get off the boat and be in your car in 15 minutes, and on the road heading home or to your next destination a few minutes after that. And the cruise terminal is on a great road for heading to Points North pretty quickly and easily with zero city traffic.
  15. Lots of luggage storage options in NYC. Google is your friend here Most hotels will store bags for a small fee, too.
  16. If i was never going to be in the area again and could afford it I would do the longer cruise every time
  17. Yes, there are lots of well marked crosswalks and most of them are attended by police helping the travelers during those busy times.
  18. Over the 10 years or so (probably more) that I have been on this site, I have seen at least a dozen "what if it is full" threads. And not yet a post about it actually being full. But the answer is, if it's full, go to your favorite parking app, like Spot Hero, and find the closest well priced alternative. Just as you'd do if any other parking option were unavailable.
  19. Check the Maine forum at TripAdvisor for lots of ideas
  20. Maybe they can get a pilot ship to make the transfer or drop a tender?
  21. Google Maps gives you a few options using the Silver Line. Some are a "one seat ride" with a 10-15 minute walk. Others are a 2 seat ride with shorter walks. Whichever you prefer. The Sumner Tunnel closing is supposed to end in the next few days. That tunnel goes from the Airport to the city, so only a minor affect on traffic TO the airport. And from the cruiseport you are going to use the Ted Williams Tunnel 99% of the time. Do check the pricing on cruise transfers, they are usually crazy expensive compared to DIY.
  22. Maybe I've been lucky, but in all my years of using a CC here in the US at restaurants, and literally thousands of times the card has been taken in the back to be run, I've never had it cloned or stolen. I *Have* had my card number compromised by airlines and major hotel chains. Don't worry about this.
  23. Flying is really the best way to do this. Depending on dates/times, flight prices can be pretty reasonable.
