  1. The article said he is South African, not Filipino. Not arguing your point, just clarifying that detail.
  2. Thanks so much for this, we are leaving on Sunday on the Breakaway from Miami and I just assumed it would be like Seattle and we would go through general security first and then to the Haven lounge.
  3. We're going on the Breakaway in a couple of weeks, so I can only answer this one. Reservations can be made on the app starting at 21 days out.
  4. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty jealous you're getting a replacement port. We're just getting an extra sea day, with our Tortola cancellation.
  5. I think I would have a lot more empathy/sympathy/whatever if the people and families of people who got left behind didn't go running to news outlets to complain about being abandoned.
  6. Finally got around to reading the whole article. It sounds like the ship was late to leave a couple of ports so I guess they thought getting back late wasn't a big deal. ā€œOur cruise began in Lisbon and we departed from Lisbon about one and a half hours after the scheduled departure at 4:00 p.m.,ā€ Gordon told CNN. ā€œThen the next night or two, at least a half-hour late from the dock, so it is clear that they do not always leave on the exact moment scheduled.ā€
  7. ā€œThey looked around and they looked around and no one was there,ā€ Marilee Barker, the coupleā€™s Utah-based daughter, told CNN by phone. They got a taxi to the police station where ā€œthe policeman helped them call back to the dock. And they said, ā€˜thereā€™s nothing we can do.ā€™ ā€ This sounds like they were way later than just 10 minutes.
  8. Thank you so much! Your Great Britian tour sounds fantastic!
  9. Any tour group in particular that you would recommend? Husband & I would like to take a land-based vacation to Spain next year.
  10. Noooo!!! I love the lunch menu, especially the shrimp scampi and the scallops. How do they not have shrimp on the dinner menu?!
  11. I honestly wouldn't care all that much except that I know from reading here there is a decent chance we will miss GSC, as well. If we do, we'll end up only visiting two ports instead of four. I like NCL, and I love the Haven, so I won't say we'll never sail with them again. But husband & I were already planning on doing more land-based vacations in the future. If we do cruise again I will most likely try a different line.
  12. We were on this cruise last year and it was amazing! The Haven observation lounge is fantastic. The weather was a lot warmer than I expected it to be, so I ended up buying a couple of lighter-weight shirts in Juneau. We didn't do any excursions except whale watching in Icy Strait Point, which was a lot of fun. We have family in Sitka, and on previous visits there (not on a cruise, I mean) we have gone to The Fortress of the Bear and the raptor center. I liked both. We went to the Red Dog Saloon in Juneau (husband stopped there many times in his 25-year Coast Guard career and wanted me to see it). Victoria was an absolute madhouse. If I had to do it again I would've just stayed on the ship. Mario is the best Haven bar waiter! I don't know if Jersey Boys is still the show on the Bliss, but we saw it and loved it. We got to the port about 10:30-11:00 and the Haven waiting area was standing room only, which wasn't ideal. We would probably choose a later time if we went again. Have a fabulous cruise!
  13. I don't think it is anything to do with the missing passengers, since apparently the Jade is changing a stop from St. Croix to Tortola.
  14. On another site Iā€™m seeing that on another cruise (Jade, I think) that they are cancelling St. Croix and ADDING Tortola. So this is obviously not about passenger safety.
  15. I actually bought those! Sad to say, I was disappointed.
  16. They cancelled it for the 19th as well? So it's not just us.
  17. I'm on this cruise too. The email says, "Given recent guest feedback, and to accommodate certain circumstances". I've never been to Tortola, was there negative feedback about that port?
  18. Earlier in this thread I already commented about the bar for the Bliss last May. I will also add that the two times we used the pool and the hot tub in the courtyard, nobody else was in it or even around. There were usually a couple of people in the hot tubs on the sundeck. We only had to wait for a table in the restaurant once, and that was only for about 5 minutes, while they seated the people in line ahead of us. There were more people in the lounge and observation deck than the pool area and sundeck, but we never had trouble finding a place to sit. It never felt crowded.
  19. We ate lunch at the American Diner last year, when it was still free for Haven guests. I will just say that after eating at the Haven restaurant, I wouldn't have done the American Diner again, even if it was still a perk for the Haven. The Haven restaurant lunches are great. Better than the dinners, IMO.
  20. We were on the Bliss in the Haven last May. Sometimes the bar was crowded, sometimes not. But if we set up somewhere outside the lounge area, our favorite bar waiter Mario always found us. šŸ™‚
  21. We were on 18 last year and didn't hear anything. We were in 18706, which was an awesome location. Walk out and go right to the observation lounge, left to the restaurant, or straight down the stairs to the pool and bar.
  22. On our last cruise I had a voucher with a small amount to cash out at the casino. Guess what they paid me with?
