  1. Don't know what to tell you. I commented a few pages back, questioning Princess IT ability to handle this promotion. ETA: I take back my previously comment above. It seems like the credits will post upon your return.
  2. Yes, Future Cruise is forbidden to sell the Plus/Premium fare if availing of the onboard promotion rate. They weren't supposed to in 2023 either, but in Princess' IT struck again, the prices for Plus/Premium populated, and the consultants booked under those fares. The work around last year was that you'd book standard on board, and afterwards go into your Cruise Personalizer, add Plus/Premium, and the 50% discount would apply. (If you waited until you got on board, you were charged regular price.) This practice was shutdown and the Cruise Personalizer now tells you to contact Princess or your TA to add the packages. At $30 per day under this promotion, the Plus package was an amazing deal and a no brainer.
  3. For those of you that are after this offer, it would be worth accessing your cruise history/future cruises list by logging into your Captain's Circle account on Princess' website and checking to see if you are being credited what's being promised during the promotion's duration after July 1. This list is accurate (as least in showing extra cruise credits if sailing on a multi segment sailing sold as one sailing) in terms of showing how many credits you will earn on a particular future sailing. I'd assume it the list would update accordingly with this promotion.
  4. I wish more people had your can do attitude.
  5. Doesn't affect flights that cross Int'l Date Line. The date you enter when initiating the search through EZAir is the arrival date and the flights that populate will compensate for the lost days. In the example below for a cruise departing Sydney on 11/23, the furthest date back that can be selected is 11/18. In the flight results, the flights that populate depart on 11/16 so you arrive on 11/18. Same principle applies for European flights where the arrival is the next day. The flight departure date will automatically revert to the date before the arrival date selected. Still agree that the change blows.
  6. Wishful thinking, but this is the reason why I think the Elite price for any of the packages should be reduced by $12.50 per day (or whatever 50% of the current per day price of MedallionNet is, in the event Princess raises prices again).
  7. If using Crew Chat that there is no audible alert when GS replies. You have to actively check the chat for any replies. Crew Chat is very effective. I was told by a GS officer that GS is held accountable for the resolutions made to problems reported through Crew Chat. There is a paper trail and supposedly, someone from corporate audits the exchanges and replies. Once someone's meal come back up in an elevator. I was not prepared to see that or smell it. I took a picture of the puddle, reported it via Crew Chat, and attached the photo. The elevator was promptly put out of service for cleaning.
  8. If you're flying domestic, I would double check the booking with the airline directly. EZAir savings are more prevalent with international flight, especially international flights that require a different arrival and departure city. For domestic flights, most times it's cheaper to book directly with the airline rather than EZAir. You lose the protection, but that's the risk that you sometimes have to take. If I'm cruising out of LA, it's waaaay cheaper for me to fly on Southwest, which includes 2 pieces of checked luggage.
  9. At this time I wrote the above, it was a time of transition for Princess and there two apps running--the Medallion App and the Princess Cruises App. Princess wanted to obsolete the Medallion App, which Journey View is tied into. On 04/01/24 (I think that's the date), the Medallion App was officially made obsolete. The terminology of the e-mail would have been wrong for the Princess App because the that function is called Ship Schedule. The e-mail can still be sent, but the terminology used would have to be sent. TBH, I think this e-mail is still sent. It goes directly to my Trash folder, so I don't pay attention.
  10. Not sure what the statistic is, but I doubt many people request for early ticketing. It negates the EZAir benefit of being able to refare to a lower airfare before the 45 day mark. I avoid EZAir forgetting to ticket problem by checking if my Travel Summary has the air ticket numbers listed at the 40 day mark. If not, then I call EZAir and tell them to ticket my reservation. This way I don't forfeit the ability to refare. When it's less than 45 days, there's nothing to lose by forcing the air to be ticketed. If I had to book what is essentially a restricted ticket to book air with a departure of more than 5 days pre/post cruise, I would seriously reconsider using EZAir altogether because I lose the ability to lock in an air reservation at a specific price without being penalized for cancelation, if I want to rebook either with EZAir or directly with the airline due to lower pricing. Might not get a lower price for business and higher classes, but cattle class prices fluctuate and that's the class I fly. I still agree that this change is a major blow to the benefits of EZAir and the air programs of cruise lines under the CCL umbrella.
  11. Potato (American English), Potato (British English). They're the same thing. Everyone is used to calling them a Cruise Vacation Planner, CVP. I guess some where along the line they got their titles changed to Princess Vacation Planner, PVP. Don't like PVP to refer to them because PVP has always meant, to me, Princess Vacation Protection, which is Princess' cruise insurance.
  12. For those of us that fly cattle, I wish airlines would include the price of check baggage into the price like the good old days.
  13. I was discussing this with my girlfriend. She thinks this change, if it isn't a glitch (which I really hope it's a glitch), is to simplify the ticketing process. If all guests have to fly within 5 days of their cruise, EZAir has a set deadline to ticket all the air for a particular sailing. If people are flying any day before their cruise, ticketing at the 45 day mark is a moving target and is dependent on the air departure date. I remember during the restart when EZAir was dropping the bomb and forgetting to pay for the air, resulting in people arriving at the airport with no reservations. I rebutted her by asking how this affects the return. No, answer. 🤷‍♂️ Again, this was just my GF's opinion.
  14. The problem is Princess is forcing the airfare to spike under the new terms. Now, all passengers, if choosing to use EZAir, have to fly in within 5 days of sailing/depart within 5 days of disembarkation, instead of letting the flight arrivals spread out. If I fly in a week before a 2 week cruise, then I've opened up availability for 2 others to fly in the day of or the the day before. The 5 days prior won't have an effect, because there is no cruise departing if the ship is on a turnaround cycle of more than 7 days (could be more, but I haven't really thought it out that far). If there is a major event, the airfares will spike to begin with. It's not just cruiser passengers trying to get to that city, but other travelers. It's simple supply and demand. This is one of the reasons I don't cruise or fly near or around major US holidays. For example, the flights for the 07/05/24 departure of the Island Princess TA are higher because it coincides with July 4th. The airlines know this and the airlines are the ones that set the fare. Try finding a cheap flight during the week of Thanksgiving or Christmas. The airlines know better than to discount this time frame because they know they have a captive audience; people will pay whatever price to get home for the holidays. At the end of the day, Princess still gets a cut of the airfare, regardless of when the passenger departure/return is.
  15. In the non Alaska season for San Francisco on the Ruby cruises alternate between 16 day Hawaii, 11 day Mexico, 7 day Coastal, and 5 day Coastal. How does a 5 day cut off affect these cruises?
  16. To the contrary, I fly to Europe so I can take longer cruises. 7 day cruises don't quite do it for me. This is the first time that a loyalty accelerator has been offered in the US. We don't even know if this will continue past the 4 month pilot.
  17. Our friends across The Pond get discounts of up to 50% off (that I've heard of) on packages. Personally I'd much prefer that. Can't speak for my fellow Americans. As has been discussed before, the some of the CC benefits are eroded if you already purchased a package.
  18. My experience has proven otherwise. The fares flying in the day before and the day of my cruises are higher than flying two days or more before my cruises. Everyone wants to fly in the day before or day of. Fewer people want to fly in two days or more before their cruise. That is if the fares are an indication of flight loads.
  19. Patients don’t have to be confined to their bedroom. Plenty of dialysis patients go on land vacations where access to a hospital, if something were to go wrong with treatment, is available. On a ship, if something were to go wrong and a Medevac were needed, that process could potentially interrupt the vacations of others that are on board due to diversion (missed ports, late arrival, etc.). On Viking, some are required to have a medical assessment form filled out by their physician in order to cruise. Supposedly this is for expedition journeys, but some have reported needing this form submitted for river cruises. https://docs.vikingcruises.com/pdf/Viking-Expedition-PreBoarding-Medical-Assessment_R02b.pdf
  20. I totally understand where the direction in which the new pricing is coming from. In this case, I didn't mean for the word "scheme" to have a negative connotation. In business acumen, a "pricing scheme" just means how a price is determined.
  21. This new cruise pricing scheme came up for conversation with our friend that cruises solo. His point was that solo passengers have to be vigilant that they are only being charged the single supplement on the cruise fare and not on for the port and taxes. With the new pricing scheme it's not as easy as doubling the listed fare to calculate the fare when the single supplement is 100%.
  22. If you create a dummy booking, the furthest out the EZAir calendar will let you book is 5 days before the cruise for this Island Princess cruise departing 11/14/24. Don't know why.
  23. Still...If using a machine, what happens if the pump malfunctions and the problem can't be troubleshooted on board? What about infection? What if you notice that a fluid bag is compromised and don't have enough fluid? What if the catheter gets dislodged? Small stuff like this that can cause big problems. Dialysis is life support and if something goes wrong, it can mean life and death for the patient, as I'm sure you already know.
  24. I guarantee you that if people were asked to identify these actors/actresses by name or photo, very few would be able to name them. It's not like they reached the fame of Jane Fonda or Robert De Niro; people can recall these actors from the same generation. Time to move on. Princess should too. I'm sure they're very nice people.
  25. DAs on the Sky are midship Deluxe Balconies. If being assigned a Deluxe Balcony, you'd have to be assigned one midship; since you booked the highest location category, there's no where other location you could be assigned. The caveat is guarantee means that you will be assigned DA or better. If you were to get upgraded to a new meta category (Premium Deluxe Balcony or above), it could be any location on the ship. If upgraded to Premium Deluxe balcony, for example, you would be aft (Decks 8 to 15) or forward (Deck 9); mini suites are all over the ship; etc. For reference, D in DA stands for Deluxe Balcony and A stands for midship.
