We experienced the same on the Caribbean. We had an appointment with a car service for pick up and required early walk off to meet the driver. Asked the supervisor at the desk how can they determine our plans on their own. No problems getting what we wanted, but thought the system was poor compared with the previous system. Mentioned same in the survey. Guess from now on we will have to speak with passenger services during the voyage.

I thought it odd too. Created ,more trouble than it was worth for passenger services. As I previously mentioned had tickets for Princess transportation and it mentioned all three airports on ticket not the one I was going to. When I went to passenger services I asked them if I didn't tell them, how would they know which airport bus to put passengers on and for them to have a proper passenger count when they order buses. person didn't even know what I meant so I just made sure they put us on the earliest bus to Newark. I didn't have EZ air.

  2. In September on the Caribbean Princess (Aug 19-Sept 4th cruise), the ship didn't send out the usual survey for disembarkation plans. I had to go to front desk because we had Princess transport to Newark and wanted to make sure we got the proper time to leave ship for the bus.It was noted. They just gave out luggage tags . Hope this doesn't happen fleet wide. Can cause huge lines with people needing to change tags and disembarkation times.

  3. My son in law was on his first cruise with us  and apparently decided to get a haircut on the Ruby Princess. He has a beautiful head of hair, nice and thick and always looks very stylish. Well, when he came back to the group, we were really laughing. He looked like the haircut on the Seinfeld TV show where the character gets a  nerd haircut , complete with a part in it.My daughter told me to stop laughing  because he was very upset. So do ships do good haircuts, depends on who does it. Just like on land, not every hairdresser is talented.

  4. Even if people wash their hands first before entering and handling the buffet serving spoons, then they go back in for more food

and don't wash again. On recent Caribbean Princess cruise we saw someone use their hands to scoop up potato chips. I am sure they weren't the only ones doing that.

Mostly we eat in the dining rooms.but not always.

I have seen people leave the restrooms without washing hands. Even if careful and not eating in buffet, how about the handrails

    on stairs.

  5. On Caribbean Princess in August. Felt like a new ship compared to the 3 previous times on same ship. Carpeting throughout the ship was new.The buffet had a brand new look.  Our balcony cabin on Caribe deck had the brand new carpeting too. I did notice that not all the cabins on this deck had new carpeting. Furniture was still the old. Mattresses were newer and very comfortable. I found service was good.

  6. We had to cancel two cruises B2B a few months ago a week before the cruises.. Even though I wanted to do cancel for any reason, not medical, still had to open the claim with Princess Ins co. Day we canceled and travel agent informed Princess,  several credits appeared on our credit card (card we used to pay for cruise) for port taxes and some other charges I didn't know exactly for what(no explaination).

After a couple of weeks , Ins informed us they are notifying Princess. A day later all the dollar amounts credits appeared in the area where your Future cruise credits show up. Here was the problem. You are not asked where you want these credits to be applied. We had several cruises booked and we wanted it applied to the next cruise as final payment was coming up and we wanted to make sure our credits were used. Well, at the same time we booked a couple of cruises for next year and those credits went to those. Their system is set up that they are used for the next one booked.Several attempts and phone calls by our travel agent got them moved over to the cruise I wanted credited. There was no airfare involved. We got everything back except the Insurance premium. This cancelation was due to a flood but easier to cancel for any reason than go through all the paperwork they were requiring. If this was medical may have done the same . For those wanting a complete cash refund and don't booked cruises, going through the hoops only thing to do.For credits to future cruises, much easier route.

  7. Kruisey, On many cruises the noon report is done by the Officer of the Watch and not the Captain.

He starts with This is the officer of the Watch-------------.

On our most recent cruise, every activity that normally the Captain attends was done by the Staff Captain (Most traveled Luncheon, Captains circle party, Captain's Farewell Party. It was explained because of fog, Captain had to be on the Bridge. This was a 16 day cruise. So in this case, didn't matter who the Captain was, we never got to see him although we heard him every time prior to sailing from a port.

We are currently on the Caribbean Princess and the situation is the same other than second seating is at 7:30.qq it is totally awful. The hotel director claims it is because of the demographics and wanting to fill both shows. It is really untenable. The theater is not large enough to accommodate all passengers in two shows so the theater is guaranteed to be filled; a late show needs to be added. And you are correct that when you get out of the dining room at 9 there are no seats in any entertainment venue. This is not the first time we are on this ship but it is the first time shows have been scheduled this way. Captain’s Circle Parties tonight are at 4:45 and 7 pm. Utterly ridiculous!

Same with us for Captain's circle party. We eat late so were forced to attend the early 4:45 party if we wanted to go to it.

And our dinner was at 7:15 so no going to the later one. I think the Entertainment Director is at fault as that person schedules the shows. So that also affected the Circle parties schedule. No other ship has this stupid schedule with the shows. We have been on the Emerald as well as the Royal this year and went to the shows after dinner (9:30 ).Normally we like to lounge in our cabin until getting ready for our late dinner. I won't sail on the Caribbean Princess again for sure. Sad because it is a nice ship and being recently redone, feels new.

  9. When we were on the Regal and had late dining, the show was before dinner.

With the now earlier dining times, the way they schedule the shows have changed. Unfortunately doesn't appear to be the same on all ships. Up to the Entertainment director for scheduling. As I mentioned in a previous post, the schedule on Caribbean Princess was really screwed up.

  10. On our last cruise (August 2019) , we were on Caribbean Princess. Fixed dining for us was 7:15pm. Going to the shows was pretty awful. Show times 6:30 (for late diners) and 8:30 for early diners.

We had absolutely no choice and had to go to the 6:30 show. Problem , it was stated in Patter for late diners. However, early diners showed up too (ate at 5pm), anytime diners, buffet eaters as well as for the intended late diners. If you didn't get to the theatre at 5:30pm, no seats left in about 15 minutes (45 minutes before show began). After dinner, no show for us. Game shows began in Explorers lounge but when we exited dinner at 9PM, no seats left for us.

In all , not a good planning on Princess part. If late diners had a 9:30 or 10:00PM show, would have been much nicer. First time on any Princess ship we had this problem. Adding to the problem was the Cruise Director Marcos. On the wake show every morning he made sure to say, come at least an hour early for the early show or no seats. One night he said better get there at least an hour early and guess what people showed up 1 1/2 hr early . No seats left by 5:30. I blame him a lot.Entertainment Director should have been fired for how everything was planned.

We did a Med/TA, they gave us the 2 credits and they split the 500 internet minutes but we didn't get 2 shareholder benefits.
We are doing a S. America one next year that we booked as one but it is a B2B also....2 credits but don't know about the shareholder benefit?  I'm thinking that since we only have one booking number it will just be the one benefit that we get.

Only one shareholder credit is given. We have done many long cruises (booked as one but sold in segments too)

  12. On a recent  cruise, the Circle hostess at the Captain's Circle Party mentioned to see her or the Future Cruise Consultant regarding doubling your Future Cruise OBC even on cruises you have already booked as long as you used  Future Cruise Credits when booked.I thought that was odd and maybe I heard wrong.  So I stood in line (I was only 3 rd in line) waiting for one of them during their office hours for 1 1/2 hours. Turns out, very misleading statement.  What the Future Cruise consultant wanted to do was rebook my cruises , use new FCC. Then when I go home have my travel agent cancel my previous bookings. I kept asking him what about all my credits I already have because my booking were under the Landmark sale and others one. He didn't get it.

No way to get additional $100.00 would I risk that. Also I would have to take guaranties instead of my actual cabin. He said no problem your travel agent when she cancels your original bookings , can then apply the cabin to the new one. In the real world, maybe that can work but so iffy. All to get additional $100. I passed on his deal.

Turns out I discussed with my travel agent and she said good I did that. She herself was offered deals like that and passed on it.

They reuse the same photo for a number of years. I don't know for how long but they used ours for a number of Medallion trips so far.

Maybe this year we'll get an updated picture?

    Who knows?

My DH said he's going to test the system & grow a mustache to force the issue. 😄

Our photo they used wasn't on a previous Medallion cruise. The last Princess cruise that was medallion was on the Royal and totally different photo.

  14. On my recent cruise on the Carribean Princess I didn't download the app in advance.

Getting to the pier, no lines, and got to checkin  and was given our medallions in a few minutes.

No photo was taken. Getting on the ship noticed that people were getting photos taken . Probably those who just received the medallions. My turn and no photo taken . I asked and they said already on it. How? Still don't know. The photo that showed up was not a recent one  but may have been one taken on the Caribbean Princess when we were on two years ago.We have cruised quite a bit since then . Wonder if our photos stay in Princess' system or just on the ship we sail. Hey, I loved it, looked two years younger.

  15. Just got off Caribbean Princess last week. Ship looks brand new. Was on it 3 times previous and what a nice difference.

The Buffet a totally different layout. All the carpeting appears new throughout(public areas as well as cabin hallways). We had the new shades of grey carpeting in our cabin but noticed some rooms didn't.Actually loved the ship.Bed so comfy and so were the linens.Medallion Class ship now.
