  1. These Ladies resent the implication that they would ever be considered chair hogs, but are also very troubled that you may have just called them fat.
  2. Right? Maggie and her Mermaid sisters agree (they arrived today!!!)
  3. Ha! 3 very different location and/or amounts, so very cruise critic, love it! Short answer=yes.
  4. Inspired by this thread, I decided to order ducks for our June sailing on the Jewel. I almost went with the standard pirates/sailors versions, but decided to mix it up with these lovely mermaids.
  5. There isn't a live report with anyone on board at the moment that I'm aware of (Nate left in Seward, Yvonne starts in YVR on the 29th), but according to cruise mapper it looks like they got within 7 or 8 miles today before doing a 180 and back out. I'm curious if the shorex got cxld as that's what I have booked for my June sailing...
  6. Will do on the former, and agreed on the latter! I also want to book the Aleutian Ballad, but need to get a Teppenyaki booking revised for that one.
  7. Looking forward to your adventures with Dad!!! and thanks to your previous reports, I’ve booked the Hubbard excursion and also Jayleen’s for our 6/3 sailing!
  8. This is the right answer. When it’s classified as an excursion, it does apply it directly, here’s an example for our upcoming cruise on the Jewel:
  9. HA! The puppies sound like the best part! Thank you so much for the info., and now I know how I'll be spending tomorrow (catching up on your other reports). I'm also more excited than I was to be having my first cruise on the Jewel after reading these last ones!
  10. WOW. What an incredible report!!! Actually, all of yours that I've read so far. I'm doing the southern AK from Seward on 6/3 (my actual birthday, I love how you and Dad celebrate yours!) on the Jewel, so stumbled across your '22 report first. Then Mexico. Then back on the Jewel last May! As everyone else has said, you have a great writing style, and the care and love for your Dad is so beautiful to read. It also helps that you're hilarious, and I love all the details you include! I've literally spent all day (with several snack breaks) reading these, and then you sending me off into rabbit holes of research (especially the Aleutian Ballad/Bering Sea Crab Tour/Ketchikan and Yakutania Point/Skagway) which is the fun part of cruise planning. Here's an easy question, but one I've never seen answered: In the Stardust Theater they have Haven reserved seating, but is that available for Suite guests who have butler & concierge access as well? I would assume since suites get Haven breakfasts (Moderno's) & lunches (Cagney's), the answer must be yes. Is that where you and Dad usually sit? And if yes, is it just one section in the balcony, which another poster said wasn't ideal seating? It's such a minor part of the cruise, it's almost irrelevant, but I am curious. I also assume the suite classification is what's getting your invite letters to view the glaciers from the Haven's sun deck too? You also have the diamond latitudes though, which clearly drives many of your other perks (officers dinner, for example). Can't wait to read your next one, which I think will bring me up to last July on the Spirit!
  11. Out of curiosity and as a newcomer, what do the “tribe” references mean? I’m assuming it’s another forum?
  12. Wow. What an eye opener this thread has been. I’m a FlyerTalk regular (aviation/airline board) and I thought the personalities over there were strong…Child’s Play compared to you Cruisers! Happy Cruising (if you can make the boat!) to all! 😉
  13. FYI, I called in this am and got an answer to my question! Ended up getting transferred to a supervisor who has sailed on the Jewel twice, once last fall in 9670 (SN) and once in 10664 (SM). According to her, they never changed the suite perks, even though the website is very nebulous about which rooms qualify. As long as you're in a suite (room type starting with S), you get everything. On her fall sailing, that means suite/haven guests used Moderno for breakfast, and Cagney's for lunch, although some sailings use just Moderno for both, depends on staffing levels. Hope this helps others.
  14. Now that we're in 2024, has anyone experienced any update this to, specifically with the Aft-Facing suites on Deck 8/9: Jewel? Thanks!
