  1. Does anyone know about the Celebrity Suites? We will be in 1620 in the fall....thanks.
  2. I was just able to book dining for a cruise next October. When you go to Manage Reservation, make sure you scroll down (past the flights section) and click on "Dining Packages".
  3. Thanks. Is there any reason to get one if you have access to the Retreat deck, or would that be somewhat redundant?
  4. Do they have cabanas for daily or weekly rental on the Equinox? If so, how does one find info about them? Thanks!
  5. Please continue to hold for the next available customer service rep. Your call is very important to me.
  6. If you're using Chrome as your browser, you may need click on the "update" button on the top right hand corner of your browser (if one appears). I was having trouble with that page loading and did that and it's fine now.
  7. Great question. We begged. We showed all paperwork we had from our ticket from the prior day, to the lost luggage paper. They let us in.
  8. I don't think I paid that much...last time I used it was a few months ago to Canada and it was like $200each. It's one thing for domestic travel, but for international, and before a cruise, is that it's hard to imagine they can get your luggage to whatever port you happen to be at on a given day, there isn't much variety for shopping on the ship, and it's a pain to find stores in foreign countries. And it's also nice to not have to drag big suitcases around. I get that it's not for everyone.
  9. So the flights (from MIA to LGA, and LGA to Barcelona, were both originally with Delta. No TA as far as I can recall. Delta DID rebook us on the connection on KLR to Barcelona. I believe it was one of those that says KLR "operated by Delta". So when we landed without our luggage, the KLR rep told us to reach out to Delta, and Delta told us KLR.
  10. Obviously we try to avoid connections whenever possible, but that isn't always an option. We use Luggage Forward with really flawless results. It's not cheap, and they may even be a little more expensive than some others, but their communication and customer service has been great, you can track your bags, and they will pickup and deliver from pretty much anywhere or from/to any kind of location. Hotels will store them, and cruise lines are set up to receive your luggage as well. The peace of mind is worth it for me after that experience.
  11. The travel stress is very real. So a few years back, we were booked on an RCL cruise out of Barcelona. We flew in the day before. Well, the first leg of flight (Delta) was OK, but when we arrived in NY for the connection, we learned our connection to Barcelona was canceled. We scrambled to get a connection, and got one on KLR airlines (first time I had heard of them). At this point, we had the sinking understanding that our luggage might not make it to Barcelona with us, which it did not. The person at the KLR luggage counter spoke very poor English, and we got little info. We were trying with Delta as well, and got nothing. So here we were in Barcelona, the night before we were getting on a ship that had different ports every day, with nothing except the clothes on our backs. We scrambled and bought toothbrushes, underwear, a few tshirts, my DW bought some makeup...that kind of stuff. I laid in bed in our hotel room unable to sleep, kept checking the Delta app (this was about 5 years ago) and saw nothing. We had to board the ship the following day. On a random hunch, we decided to go to the airport and wait for the next Delta flight out of LaGuardia to land. We stood in baggage claim waiting while all of the luggage came off that plane. Lo and behold the actual last two suitcases to come off the plane were our two bags! I have a picture of my wife hugging her suitcase lol. We went from there directly to the port and boarded the ship. Moral of the story...we now ship our luggage whenever we have a connecting flight, we have air tags as well, and we bring a carryon with essentials.
  12. I don't use this term often, but what a tool! 😉
  13. Agree...just kinda grossed me out. I'm not a germaphobe, but hot tubs really skeeve me out even more lol.
  14. On one of our cruises on an Oasis class RCCL cruise, we saw them close one of the two side by side pools to drain and refill it (not sure why, and it was probably best that we didn't know why). We were sitting in a chair on the suite deck which was above and overlooking the two pools. As they refilled the one they drained, the color difference between the two pools was significant...the one the refilled looked clean and clear....the one they didn't had a very murky look in comparison. I haven't been in a cruise ship pool since. 🚿
  15. Just to be clear, the Elite happy hour perk is irrelevant if you have a premium drink package (and/or are staying in a suite)....correct?
  16. Have this same cruise booked for next year...following!
  17. Make sure your hair is combed, and most importantly, make sure you use the correct fork for your salad....lest you adversely impact the dining experience of someone sitting 5 tables away!
  18. I can never understand why others care what type of pants someone else wears to dinner on a cruise ship. It's mind-boggling to me. Respect the venue enough to not be a total slob, but other than that, focus on yourself and your table-mates.
  19. Call me a bleeding heart, but most of these ship workers seem like such lovely people with big hearts, who work in difficult conditions for supposedly not such great wages...many of them speak of sending their money home to help support their loved ones...I can't imagine not supplementing their incomes with some additional tips. No, it's not required, and I don't expect everyone to feel the way I do, but if I can afford a suite, I can afford to tip those who positively enhance my vacation experience.
  20. Forgive me for this newbie (to Celebrity) question...is a Celebrity Suite (on the Equinox in my case) considered and "Upper suite", or no?
  21. We cruised HAL once, in 2018, in a Neptune suite on the Zuiderdam. The itinerary was the key for us...it was the "partial" Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean. The ship itself was kind of "blah". Old school cruise ship with an older crowd and not much going on during the days especially. The crew was very pleasant, the food in the specialty restaurants was good. The MDR was a bit rough by cruise standards...if you did anytime dining (or whatever they call it) you normally have to wait and the experience was a little impersonal feeling...lacking that little extra warmth we used to see on cruises. My take is always that the ship is more important on Caribbean itineraries and cruises with lots of sea days, and it's less important on those itineraries where you are off the boat early nearly every day (like a Mediterranean itinerary).
  22. Great and timely topic for me! We are Diamonds on Royal and just booked our first Celebrity cruise (Equinox in 2023). Our last several RCCL cruises have been just the two of us in Crown Loft suites on Oasis class ships. We loved the accommodations, loved the more private suite areas and the perks, and loved the ability to avoid the masses and what we deemed to be increasingly mediocre food in the MDR. After three successive Oasis class cruises, we realized (slow on the draw as we may be) that it's silly for us to spend all of that money for a ship on which we try to avoid the parts that most find the most appealing...all the kids activities. We then went to what I deemed to be the other extreme and booked a suite on a Holland America cruise (Panama Canal and southern Caribbean). While it was a great cruise with great ports, it was a little old for us and a little boring on sea days (we are both in our early 60s). So the next one will be Celebrity, and this thread has really sealed that deal for me. Thanks to all for the great info, and I look forward to participating in the forum going forward.
