  1. Good morning from a cloudy day in the mountains near Tucson. Rain is back in the forecast and Craig & I don’t think the girls will be able to come. We are very disappointed. The satellite TV worker (I misspoke before when I said cable) didn’t show up on Wednesday as planned and has been rescheduled for this morning. I haven’t been able to watch anything about the Queen and the tributes. Hopefully it’ll be back up so I can watch when King Charles is announced as sovereign, or maybe that’s happened already. Yesterday evening we went for a walk and Blue did okay until he decided he’d had enough. Lizzard Rock: I’m going to post more pictures in another post. The bandwidth up here is sketchy.
  2. Happy Anniversary to Annie & Chuck @marshhawk!! Enjoy your special day and Anniversary dinner tomorrow. Safe travels to your cruise too!
  3. I just saw a twitter post from BBC that the Queen has passed. Prayers for the Royal family and May she Rest In Peace.
  4. Good morning from the mountains. It’s currently 70 degrees and a bit cloudy and only going to get to 75 degrees today. It might rain tomorrow but I hope it holds off until Saturday because DS is bringing the girls up the mountain after school for the weekend and he won’t drive the road in the rain. I don’t blame him though but I really want them to come. I’m catching up with the Daily very haphazardly, going backwards and realizing that I’ve missed a lot of news. So, I want to wish Lenda & her DH a Belated Wedding Anniversary. And on Monday, Labor Day, I saw that Cheese Pizza was celebrated. It just so happened that we made homemade pizza, it was delicious, so I have to share the picture. Have a great day everyone!
  5. Terri, this is just awful! What a mess! Prayers that clean up happens quickly and smoothly. I wonder if there’s a way that you could move your bed to an untouched area to sleep on? I would definitely miss my bed too. I hope you have a good nights sleep tonight.
  6. I just finished reading Sunday’s Daily and wanted to thank everyone for the special Birthday wishes for my Mom’s 93rd. Thanks to Roy @rafinmd for having her on the Celebration List. Thanks to Carolyn @Cruising-along, Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, Vanessa @JazzyV, Jacqui @kazu, Graham @grapau27, Gerry @ger_77, Sandi @StLouisCruisers, and Jim @irishjim for the special shout-outs. I won’t see her until next week but I’ll make sure to tell her that my CC friends all sent wishes. Edited to add— I hope I didn’t miss anyone!
  7. Good afternoon from the mountains near our home. Lovely day today, it’s usually 20 degrees cooler here than Tucson. Today’s high is supposed to be 79 degrees. A view from the back deck. I was trying to take pictures of the birds in the trees but you can’t see them in the pictures. I’ll have Craig take some because his iPhone camera is better than mine. We did some more cleaning this morning. Craig has been helping me with dishwashing because I’ve had a bad rash and it’s also on my palms and hands. It’s been wonderful telling him what to wash and clean. 😉 I like salami more than pepperoni. Today’s meal suggestion sounds good but I probably won’t ever make it. Thank you Debbie @dfish for all the info. Per Alton Brown for those who have problems with the gassy properties of cauliflower and beans, eating more and getting your digestive system used to them really helps. Today we are having steak, twice baked potatoes and corn on the cob for lunch and mussels for dinner. However the cable worker is on his way and we may end up eating really late again. But I’ll be happy to have TV. We will be in Port Canaveral on October 21st and have the Space Center excursion booked, I think most of the Daily group has booked it too. I don’t usually like to book such a long excursion the day before disembarkation but we decided it would be worth it this time. We’ve been there once before in 1999 taking a Disney ship and remember all the things and pictures that Sandi @StLouisCruisers posted. Graham @grapau27, your food pictures look wonderful! I hope you enjoy! Have a great day everyone!
  8. Yes Graham, many movies filmed in the area and also Arizona in general. Near Tucson is an old movie location called Old Tucson.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Tucson_Studios You could visit and see a lot of places where movies or TV were made. One you may know is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_High_Chaparral Once I’m home I’ll have to look for pictures. There was a bad fire in 1995 and it took a long time to reopen and then only as a tourist attraction and also an annual Night Fall location during October for Halloween. https://nightfallaz.com/ It was sold recently, IIRC it had problems during the pandemic, etc, and now has new operators.
  9. Sandi & Dennis @StLouisCruisers — Happy Anniversary wishes to you! Enjoy! 🍾🥂💕 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Debbie @dfish — good to hear you found a home that would work for you and your sister. I hope they come down in price. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A sunset picture from the mountains looking down on Tucson.
  10. Hello and happy Tuesday from the mountains near home! We arrived this morning about 11:15 and after unpacking the car and putting away fridge and freezer items and cleaning, we had a late lunch of leftover crepes, asparagus, and bread, oh, and of course a bit of wine to celebrate. Tonight we are almost having today meal suggestion but it’s pork carnitas bowls and blueberry cake and ice cream for dessert. Yum, I can’t wait. Mountain air makes you hungry. The owner always meets us and has two dogs. What a surprise to be greeted by 3. He added a new rescue named Maggie. Taz and Bella seem to tolerate her. The cable is out so no TV, Sharon is in withdrawal. The cable worker is coming tomorrow so hopefully it’ll get fixed. I’ll get some pictures tomorrow. The birds have been more active and plentiful than in the past. I’ve not read the Daily for 3 days and just read Roy’s Care list and saw Allen on the Care list. I hope everything is okay. Prayers Joy! @Seasick Sailor Hoping everyone here are all doing well. Tossing eggs brings back a not so favorite memory. When I was a High School Freshman for some crazy reason there was an initiation ritual to get in the pep squad. One of them was to toss eggs back and forth to each other and see how many eggs were dropped or hit the other person. Needless to say, Sharon didn’t do so good. 😉 Have a good evening!
  11. Good Afternoon! I'm late today and will probably not be on for the next few days. Getting down to the wire going up the mountain and only have two more days to prepare. Today I made Chili and marinade for Chicken and washed veggies and Craig went shopping and everything is put away or frozen for our trek. Tomorrow is DM's 93rd Birthday and we are taking her to lunch. Yesterday I took her to a doctor's appointment and then to see her younger sister who is 90 and has been in the hospital and rehab for 3 months. She'll be released soon and DM has really wanted to see her. They both had tears in their eyes. They are from a family of 13 siblings and only 3 are left, all in their 90's. Amazing. There are some movies that are much better on the big screen. DH just said Hello Dolly is one of them. Jaws is another. Our neighborhood theater has retro movies and we have gone to a few. I hate, detest and avoid heights. When we were in Las Vegas we were on the 44th floor and I hated it the entire time, especially at night. I can't imagine going twice that high. I like pesto in small doses. When I buy store bought pesto I buy the Buttoni that @0106 mentioned, thank you! I keep it frozen and just use what I need each time. I do buy jarred pesto just to have it on hand. I sometimes make pesto without nuts and mix it with marinara and it's really good. This is my favorite recipe for that: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/michael-symon/spaghetti-with-quick-pesto-tomato-sauce-12342801 I hope everyone has a great weekend! See you soon from the mountain!
  12. 🐇🐇🐇 Good morning! Thank you for the Daily and Fleet Report Rich. Thanks to all for sharing. I love cherry pie so I probably would love a cherry popover. I like tofu and chick peas but not a fan of cooked cabbage usually. I just was telling Craig that I should eat more tofu because I like it so much, of course he said not for him. 😉 Carolyn @Cruising-along, I would probably tell the neighbor about feeding the cat, but not mention that the daughters were being neglectful. It’s a tough situation though. I can understand why you wouldn’t want to say anything. Terri @Cruzin Terri — Enjoy your special day!! Have a great day everyone!
  13. I love Allbirds and have 4 pairs of their flats. I have very small, narrow feet and usually can’t wear a regular width shoe, but these meld to your feet. They are the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned. And they are washable! And you can buy replacement insoles too. When I was on an excursion to the Etruscan tombs another woman was wearing a pair. We looked at each other and both said, these are the most comfortable shoes ever.
  14. DH is always Mr Craig or Sir Craig. I am always Mam Sharon. And this is since 1987 but we’ve only been on HAL so can’t speak for other lines. My reaction button isn’t working. I wanted to tell you that this is the most beautiful picture!!! I am so sorry for this news. May she have the strength to deal with all of this. I’ll be praying and thinking of her. Fred, the pictures are beautiful! And I saw the photo bomber.
  15. Good morning everyone! Thank you for the Daily and Fleet Report Rich. I had PT this morning and am sore from the acupressure the therapist did, but it’s a good soreness. In honor of Beach Day this is a sand castle from Half Moon Cay January 1, 2022, my favorite beach and a great way to begin a new year. Thanks to everyone for sharing today. I need to get busy so I can relax this afternoon. Have a great day everyone!
  16. If you have all your documents I truly believe you will have no problem when you check in. Good to hear you were able to fix your hotel amenities. I hope you can enjoy your pre cruise time and not work like crazy. Enjoy!
  17. Good afternoon friends! Thank you for the Daily and Fleet Report Rich. I saw your post on our roll call and agree that staying close to the airport pre cruise the night before your flight is a good idea. We live close enough to the airport that we don’t have to do that. Today DM had her 1 year lung cancer CT in preparation for her appointment Friday with the oncologist. She’s amazing and I’m sure everything is going well. Her 93rd birthday is on Sunday. Annie @marshhawk, I forgot to add in my previous post about not having Verifly that checking in at the pier in Barcelona was not an issue. In fact, I sort of felt rushed it happened so fast. Terri @Cruzin Terri, it was good to read that the situation with your friend has been resolved. I was talking to my DM about an old situation (1996) that happened in our family with her husband’s daughter. The daughter was trying to put a rift between them and included me in her scheme. My dear Mom felt very upset that I was becoming friends with the daughter. It took me a while to figure out what was happening and when I did really put the breaks on our friendship. I wasn’t going to let her divide my Mom from me. After my stepfather passed she moved away and we haven’t heard from her since. Jacqui @kazu, I’ll be praying for good weather for Jose’s celebration of life and for your knee to get better. Terry @smitty34877, the same thing happened to me once—left turn driver behind me honked, got irritated, zipped around me and sped off through the light. I was on my way to work and it kind of shook me up. I started using a different route after that. We have been to Montreal but I’m embarrassed to say that we didn’t tour around. One was pre cruise and one was post cruise. Have a great day everyone!
  18. Just a quick note before I start reading today’s Daily. Annie @marshhawk — yesterday you asked about Verifly. Prior to our last cruise I looked into it and it seemed so complicated and not worth the bother, plus it appeared to be optional. So I decided not to do it and it turned out not to be a problem at all. In fact, when checking in for one of our flights or customs (I honestly don’t remember where but it was in Europe) the agent said “I don’t blame you, it’s a mess”. That made me laugh.
  19. Hi my friends! I’ve been busy doing “stuff”. We decided at the last minute to go to our favorite cabin in the mountains and have been busy planning. Lots of work go into our stay there because we have to take everything, I mean everything, we need. So, you essentially have to take your entire pantry, plus all your food, plus all your stuff. It’s sort of like glamping but inside. I love it, but I hate camping, so this is perfect for me. So, today I made some things to take and we are working on our menu so we don’t take too much. I hope everyone has a great day!!
  20. Linda, how sweet that your stewards did this for you! They really do care and this just proves that fact. Vanessa @JazzyV, I’m sorry you feel so bad. I’ve had food poisoning twice and it’s not fun. I actually called my doctor the first time because I was so sick and he prescribed something, seems like it started with a P. Second time I had some old Zofran and took that even though it was expired. I’d avoid the coffee today though. Feel better soon!!
  21. Good morning everyone! Thank you for the Daily and Fleet Report Rich. Thanks to all for sharing. Just a quick note before I get ready, I’m taking DM to an appointment this morning and then we will go to lunch. In honor of Dog Day: Our DGD and her almost stepsister love to take silly pictures of their pug Smokey. And here our favorite dog, Blue. Have a great day everyone!
  22. Yes! Not long at all and I’m so unprepared. We only have two tours scheduled so far so I need to get busy with that too. I saw how big the roll call has gotten, crazy, I think it’s over 100 now. I’ve never been with such a big roll call. I booked this cruise back in February 2021 and can’t believe it’s finally here! We fly out on the 4th and stay 4 nights at the Château Frontenac (big splurge for us). I think Debbie is staying there also but I think just one night. Where are you staying?
  23. Good morning! Thank you for the Daily and Fleet Report Rich. Thanks to all for sharing. I’ll pass on the banana Split. I actually don’t think I’ve ever had one, I don’t like bananas, plus I don’t like mixing ice cream flavors. Just give me a scoop of vanilla please, and sometimes with chocolate sauce. I’ve eaten cooked bananas, but still not a fan. I love corn and it’s on my grocery list right now. Today we are having miso marinated sablefish though. Craig is on his pre cruise diet so he’s been eating low carb. We leave in five and a half weeks for Quebec City. I have been posting irregularly on the Daily and am not caught up with all the news. Lots of appointments for DM and I started PT for my hip. Hopefully it will help with my balance and pain. Sandi @StLouisCruisers, I’m sorry about your neighbors. How tragic. Joy @Seasick Sailor, I’m sorry about your friends brother. Jacqui @kazu, take care of yourself. Gerry @ger_77, yuck on the taste buds with wine! I know Craig didn’t have a taste for wine for about a week after his covid quarantine but still liked his Negronis. Have a great day everyone!
