  1. Probably an unnecessary comment...but I have to reply because I like your name OP.... If ever YMMV was the best answer, this would be the question. The rules are stated so they can object. However, after a long deliberation on my cruise last March on Sky out of Ft. Lauderdale, I did an experiment. I am a Diet Dr Pepper addict. I put plastic bottles surrounded by a beach towel I didn't care about in a carry on, slapped on luggage tag, gave it to the porter and it arrived in my room. I also carried on a bottles through the scanner and walked on the ship successfully. Joy bunny hit in on the head for me - not a huge gamble monetarily if I lost. I like the bottles so I can reseal and put back in the mini fridge. One less egg to fry......🎼
  2. Oh good point! Your card isn't charged until your bid is accepted. The change is that when the bid is accepted, the card is charged immediately - you don't have time or the choice to reject it is my understanding of the change.
  3. As we all know, the bidding procedure changed. I believe the date was Feb 24th. From what I understand, bids placed after this date are automatically charged to you card, and cabin is changed if your bid is accepted. This is different than what it has been up to this point - now you don't have time to decide anymore. Can anyone who placed a bid after that date, and had it accepted confirm how that went? Another interesting tid bit is this screen that appeared when I went to bid today. Is this new? I am currently in a GTY BF balcony. When I received e-mails about bidding, and followed the steps for a mock bid - the minimum bid for a Deluxe Balcony was $30. I understand that minimum may change, but on my roll call FB group, many who recently bid the minimum were accepted. The cruise showed sold out about 2 weeks ago?? and departs in two weeks. My point is that the little color graph showing you if your bid is weak (ha ha) really does a good job of making you bid more! I put it at $70 on the picture here - barely a " good", many got accepted at minimum which would have been $30 in the last week. Just putting our interesting info- YMMV - I know so many factors go into it - what your original cabin was- how full the cruise, etc.
  4. I think this is a great idea also! Has anyone had any luck lately?
  5. What did you think of the location? Was it in the same category?
  6. Please report back your experience. I wish we had a "I booked a Balcony Unobstructed Guarantee - and this is what I got " type thread! We are booked in a BF GTY forward on Deck 8 on Discovery. Leaving mid March - the price was great, but it's a gamble.
  7. Yes - we surely did! Probably about 5" presently in SW Littleton. I feel stupid not seeing Colorado next to your name earlier. 😬. Thanks again for your input - I am just having trouble with excursions for this cruise. I usually book independently - but that's Alaska, Hawaii and the upcoming New England. Mexico intimidates me!
  8. Thanks for the quick response! That helps a lot. I didn’t realize you were from Colorado too! Did you do any other activities in Mazatlan after the Salsa excursion?
  9. We were thinking about the Salsa & Salsa! I see it starts at 9AM (at least on our sailing) - how was that? What else can you tell me about it? How was the time allowed by the pool/beach? And we too are flying in and out of Long Beach - great rate from Denver.🎉. Did you Uber upon return? Thanks!!
  10. Thank you to everyone for sharing your experiences and insights. I LOVE soaking all this up as we wait impatiently for our turn mid March. If you took an excursion, or if you would like to share your DYI shore time, I would love to hear your feedback. Thanks OP for sharing your experiences!
  11. Thank you for your review! We are going in the same cruise next month. Can you share what you did in the ports?
  12. Pricing seems a bit dodgy these days. A recent thread that seems to have disappeared?
  13. Hovank, Thank you for sticking with this and publishing the e-mail. I also would have initially responded in a variation of "this is so absurd, there must be some explanation that we're missing", but it seems like Celebrity will either surprise us all and have these separated dining rooms, or have to walk back this bizarre new policy. Can't wait to hear......
  14. I am so glad to hear this Luvseaside! I was just coming to post my good news when I saw your post! By chance I looked at my status on their website and it said my case closed today. I received an email about 5 hours later stating we will be receiving a check!! I am so relieved! Buckeye? Have you heard anything?
  15. Have a wonderful cruise and I know you will enjoy your suite! May I interject that I would love to see your feedback on your cruise and specifically excursions. There hasn't been much on the the New England/Canada ports of call boards that are recent for obvious reasons. We are going next year, and are looking for suggestions and reports from this fall. Thanks!
