  1. Only you can make that decision. As a friend my only role is to support you in the choices you make at this time unless it is something that would cause permanent physical damage. I would never tell someone that. We all process grief differently. There is no one size fits all approach. Who knows? Maybe what you are doing is way to honor Jose. He loved Miko and Marley, too. Just prove those people wrong! You can do it! I think mine is a little more straightforward. It is due to an amended return. One 1099 DIV was very late in getting to me. At the end of January I thought I had all I needed and sat down and did my taxes. Turns out I didn't and I had to add in some additional income which changed my tax liability. I am the only taxpayer in the household, so no problem there. I paid by credit card through a certified IRS payment processor, so it is just a situation of waiting for the right hand to catch up with the left or vice versa. I poured over the letter this morning and it even said if payment had been made to disregard. You'd think they can check the files. I just want to make sure they know about the payment, not that there will be a problem as the tax payment processor will take over then.
  2. Good morning, everyone. It is going to be a nice day here in northeast Ohio. I gave up the ghost early last night but was up at 5:30 this morning. It will take me a while to readjust time zones. It gets harder each passing year. Fortunately, the next few cruises will not require that. Today is grocery shopping and laundry. But, first I'll do my laps. And when I get back from the grocery store I get to do battle with the IRS. They sent me a bill while I was gone and want payment by the weekend. But, I already paid them back in April. Fortunately in this digital age one can get receipts at any time. I guess the IRS bookkeeping department is related to HAL IT. Still no word about Sue's bag. @Cruzin Terri keep those prayers to St. Anthony coming. He does make you wait sometimes. I had to wait overnight to find my passport. And a couple of years to find my mom's watch. @Rowsby Go for Hawaii. I tested yesterday when I got home and so far I'm negative. I don't have any symptoms, but it is a good idea to make sure. I will take reasonable precautions, but I'm at the point of let's learn how to live with this. @cruzn single I'm sorry you had to cancel your cruise, but you are correct that AMS is a mess. My PCC put in a wheelchair request for Donna at AMS. Donna reaffirmed that with the airline. She also put in a wheelchair request through the Schiphol website. She was refused a wheelchair assist when she got there because she wasn't on their list. The flight attendant called them twice about it. So, she took off walking. And arrived at the hotel with blistered, bloody feet.
  3. Not yet. Hopefully, we will hear something tomorrow. If not, I'll get a number from Lost and Found and call them at least to make sure they are looking for a navy blue suitcase and not red glasses. Thank you for the prayers, Terri. They worked when I asked St. Anthony to help me find my passport. It wasn't where I usually kept it. He found it for me in the cupboard in a casserole dish. So glad to hear you are being cared for. Sleep as much as you can. Sleep is healing. That is good news! I sure hope the physical therapy works. It is amazing how much physical therapy can accomplish.
  4. Home again, home again! As much as I enjoyed the two weeks on the ms. Rotterdam in Norway, home feels really good right now. Yesterday's travels were really tiring. By the time we hit the airport hotel last night, we had been up for 24 hours. @Paw13Welcome, Pauline, to the Daily. It is so nice to hear from you in person. Graham has sung your praises for quite some time, so we do feel we know you. @kazuShadow is coming along all due to your gentle persistence. That is my favorite as well. I love the sentiment. This looks like it could be in a magazine. Beautiful photo! Terry, I sure hope someone is delivering meals and helping you. After all the caregiving you've done, you deserve some yourself. @JazzyV The effectiveness of the steroid shots does wear off after time. I went from the steroids to the hyaluronic acid to knee replacement. @ottahand7I really enjoy your photos. You make the UP look so good! Of course, it is a beautiful place. @0106 Tina, the meal looks wonderful! I'm not sure what is for dinner. Probably whatever I can get delivered, but those recipes are a keeper. I love, love, love eggplant parmesan. My grandmother made the best and I could have eaten it all.
  5. Hi Maxine, Our flight was at 2:55 pm. However, Donna's was at 12:50 pm and she did get to the gate with no problem. In Security they do have a priority lane for people who have a flight within the next hour. But, the Priority Security for Business Class had no backup and was like going through the line in a small home town airport. What took us so long was all the walking. I think 12:50 will be fine. Can't wait to hear about the new grand baby!
  6. Good afternoon fellow Dailyites from 34000 feet above the Atlantic. We just passed over the Emerald Isle and will soon be south of Iceland. The day got off to a bad start when Holland lost my sister's suitcase. It was put out in plenty of time, properly tagged and with mine and Donna's bags. All of ours showed up in the cruise terminal, but not Sue's. She is really upset as she had purchased two beautiful Norwegian knit sweaters in Bergen. She rarely splurges and treats herself like that. When we got to the Amsterdam airport she received an email from Holland that they had logged her lost and found claim and would be looking for her red prescription glasses. That certainly did not help. I'm really hoping they find it. The bus ride from Rotterdam to Schiphol wasn't bad. It didn't seem to take too long. Schiphol was a mess. It took us 2 hours to get from the parking lot to the airport lounge. Fortunately we were able to go through priority security. That helped immensely as well as having priority check in I don't think I will ever fly through Schiphol without being in Business Class. Our first flight was on Lufthansa and Business Class there is kind of a joke. It is more like Economy in the front of the plane. @smitty34877 I am so sorry to hear that your whole family has Covid. Warm wishes for a speedy recovery for all. @0106 Another stellar job on the Meal of the Day. Thank you so much for offering to do it for a couple more days while I sleep and do laundry. We don't get in tonight until 11:50 pm and are staying in a hotel near the airport. We both have 3.5 hour drives to get home. @kazu Sorry about the setback with Shadow, but you know it is three steps forward, two back. You are so good with dogs that Shadow will come around in her own time. You'll have many happy bonding experiences. Prayers for all who need them, especially Daily members who are facing struggles and challenges. Cheers to all who are celebrating. Looking forward to getting back to the Daily full time.
  7. I just have to post this picture of sunset over the North Sea. It compliments @rafinmdRoy’s sunrise pictures. Also, @0106Tina, I sent you an email but from a different address. My normal email can receive but not send on the ship. Works everywhere else. Sorry I can’t get it right side up.
  8. Good afternoon everyone from the ms. Rotterdam sailing away from Oslo. It is so sad as this is our last sail away of the cruise. We have really enjoyed our aft wrap balcony for sail aways. We did an excursion to Vigeland Sculpture Park and Drobek today. Thankfully it was covered by the HIA excursion allowance. The sculpture park was great but we only got 35 minutes there - just enough time to walk through at a good clip, but not stop to enjoy the sculptures. Nothing prepared us for all the stairs we had to climb. Definitely not for anyone with a walker or perhaps not even a cane. The following are for the Garden Club. I don’t think the statues would make it past the censors. Then we went on to Drobek. The town is not as picturesque as billed and the Christmas Shop is underwhelming at best. We drove past the square and parked to let us off. The guide said she show us where the bus would pick us up and where the Christmas Shop was. She took off at a pretty fast clip before quite a few of us were off the bus. By the time we were off and Donna had her walker, she was no where to be seen. Sue ran ahead and told us she had gone down a side street, so we headed down a pretty steep hill. We then had to turn again and climb back up to the original street and ended up in the town square where we found the bus in the spot where it could wait for us. The saving grace was that we found the Gastropub and had an excellent lunch.
  9. Good afternoon from the lovely ms. Rotterdam. We actually have WiFi today. It has been out since Tuesday afternoon. First was the fjord excuse followed by maintenance issues followed by repairs. I’m not buying any of it. I guessed I missed the news of all the falls. Please be careful! No more tumbles! @kazu Jacqui, I am thrilled Shadow is with you. Enjoy!!! We made a last minute second visit to Eidfjord yesterday. It is as supposed to be Ulvik, a replacement for Stavanger. No problem as we love Eidfjord. It is such a cute little town. Sue and I hiked from town to the lake and back. Donna walked around town and went to the art museum. Today is Kristiansand and we did a lovely cruise through the islands around the town. There must be hundreds of them. Jellyfish in Lillisand. I love those rock layers. The lake in Eidfjord. The trail. Breathe deeply and smell the pine trees. Ahhhhh! We walked along the River. Just a wonderful day.
  10. Howdy, everyone! They forgot to turn the WiFi off in Flam so all is working today. We were supposed to do a fjord cruise to Gudvargen today but misread the tickets. We thought we got in at 11:30 but it was really 9:30. Oh, well. We had a nice day visiting all the souvenir shops. Donna bought a sweatshirt and Sue got presents for her granddaughters. You can’t beat the scenery. Sue wants to live in one of these so she can just cast her fishing line out the window,
  11. Good afternoon/evening from the Rotterdam. We had a lazy sea day today heading towards Flam. Currently, the forecast for Flam is 58 and rainy. The waiters in Club Orange delight in bringing me extra vegetables. Last night I got a huge plate of Brussels Sprouts and tonight a full plate of asparagus. As we were leaving Rotterdam yesterday we got a glimpse of the Volendam.
  12. I think normal time. The ship was quiet until early afternoon when the majority of passengers had embarked. It is interesting to notice the difference between last week and this week. This is a dining room crowd and the line to get in last night was around the corner. There was a line up this morning for breakfast.
  13. Greetings from the Rotterdam in Rotterdam. We are moving away from the pier now and the horn is blowing. We had a nice quiet relaxing morning with most passengers gone. The exciting news is we get to go back to Eidfjord. That is such a cute town. We might check out the Kayaks.
  14. My nephew and his girlfriend report that they were bussed to the Amsterdam Passenger Terminal early this morning. From there they walked to Central Station and took the train to Schiphol. Matt said it was 90 minutes from PCT to their gate at the airport.
  15. At this time it is for today and July 31st. If they get rain it is possible to go back to Amsterdam.
  16. Hi all. Just checking in. Internet has been dismal at best. Full info when I get home. We are having a blast! Weather was amazing in Eidfjord. Sue and I found our retirement home there. It is a bit better f a fixer upper, but we should be able to spend most of our budget on renovations.
  17. Currently onboard the Rotterdam. Those with ship transfers are being bused directly to Schiphol. Those without are being bused to the Amsterdam Passenger Cruise Terminal. They are starting earlier due to the lengthier travel time. I’m guessing the same will happen next week when we disembark.
  18. I wasn’t planning on a separate thread because I would feel obligated to post everyday and more. I will check in every so often, but probably not every day.
  19. I don’t know if one. Verifly made no difference to us. 1of us had it and 2 of us didn’t. Since no test was needed we couldn’t complete Verifly. That made a huge issue with checking in for our flights, though.
  20. Greetings, everyone! we are having a total blast so far. We were in boarding group 5 and were on the ship by 11:45. We had lunch in the dining room, made updates to our dining reservations, and stopped by the Lido for peanut butter pie for Sue. Tonight we had dinner in Sel de Mar. It was excellent. @Crazy For Cats Happy Anniversary to you and Juan. @1ANGELCATSorry to read about the accident, but glad you are ok. More later
  21. I thought they looked great! Wonderful job on the Meal of the Day!!
  22. Good morning, everyone. It is a good thing the Covid test requirement for the Netherlands and our cruise was dropped. We would have been doing the internet tests last night from the hotel, but the hotel internet wasn’t working. Couldn’t check in for our flights because Verifly was blocking me. Today is going better. We are checked in and past security and heading for breakfast. Hope everyone has a great day!
