Certainly the food is one of the reasons I go on Cunard, and I have never felt I have been treated like an animal. Perhaps my standards are too low to be worthy of mention, but I don’t think you should assume what others might do.
It is indeed most important to avoid misapprehensions, as about cabin size, or the rather bizarre idea there is a class system on Cunard, whatever that may be.
I’m sure many world cruises are indeed once in a life time. But Cunard do have an awful lot of repeat passengers, so it would be nice if on shorter cruises they could come up with a few new ports. QE has just been in Naples, but how often does that appear on a cruise starting at Southampton, for instance?
I think Rotterdam is great too. Lots of interesting modern architecture, a wonderful modern market and station, some good museums, and you can also visit the namesake ship.
QM2 really does seem to be treated like a Queen when she is in Hamburg. It is a shame she can no longer dock at Hafencity, where she was so much more visible.
I expect it is made rather easier by the fact that transit passengers do not have to disembark in Hamburg unless they want, and there are probably quite a few of those.
Perhaps you should have asked? I do remember that they all became very neurotic after a fire which started on a Princess ship balcony. Perhaps they gave up on the CCTV when they installed smoke detectors, which would make sense. Or they could be monitored from somewhere else.
Hamburg always seems surprisingly disorganised at the best of times, so no doubt there will be some degree of chaos at disembarkation and embarkation, little of which will be Cunard’s fault, all of which they will get blamed for. 🙂
But it must be said, to judge by this board, that a microscopic proportion of Cunard’s potential passengers live within throwing distance of the Med. And those of us who don’t might enjoy a little more variety.
