  1. ^ Agreed. These days, 100-110,000 tons is "smaller" and yet adequately comfortable all round! We found Liberty, Valor and Caribbean Princess to just right.
  2. Living La Vida Loca, I've even drunk ship's water coming out of the bathroom taps - and survived to tell the tale!
  3. Not all Carnival cruises are wild and debauched. We've done 11 Carnival cruises, most of them boarding at either Barbados, or at Old San Juan PR to do the Southern Caribbean cruise.. but we also did two Carnival Glory "Canada Cruises" out of Manhattan NYC -and the difference in vibe-on-board was sobering: these were no Southern Caribbean cruises with fiery Puerto Ricans on board! ...It was borderline dull but at least the itin. was interesting. Boston is nice! That first Canada Cruise had so many scooters on board I felt like I was still on Times Square: our second Canada Cruise had very few scooters. So it seems like departure point and itinerary have significant bearing on what your cruise might be like.
  4. Women have zero idea re. male overheating when adorned in out-of-context Euro-costuming originally designed (and necessary for) un-heated castles. No wonder he groaned. She just wanna look pretty!
  5. We have found that door decorations act as convenient landmarks on one's deck when staggering home after a night out on the Casino Bar (or wherever on board)!
  6. I'm guessing you're not the first person with this requirement, so maybe your concierge/steward can help out?
  7. Celebrity will be Fun Fun Fun 'til Daddy takes the T-bird away while Carnival will be dull and boring... said no-one ever.
  8. Thanks for that video! Gives a good idea of what to expect.
  9. You'll love it! All other cruise lines after this...will seem staid and boring. Sailaways are fun too.......dance routines up on top deck are fairly standard for sailaways.

I'm not sure I get this crossover thing between Carnival and Costa, but the yellow stripe looks good too.
  11. No we don't have driver's edu. classes here... and btw we love our car wrecks - lol. We spend our days eating roasted breadfruit on the beach and dancing the nites away... to the bongo drums! I live on this beach: address all fan mail to Aplmac, Barbados. I'll get it!
  12. Delighted to hear that - and to know they're working for the wider cruising populace too, as evidenced in this (appalling-behaviour) thread! GO USA!
  13. Some more advanced countries offer Parenting Classes to prepare idealistic newly-weds for the grim reality of their future with brats! It's a great idea, actually -bcoz most young ppl of reproductive age and the attendant urges .. are quite clueless.
  14. Visitors to my island Barbados often comment on how very polite and well disciplined our island kids are! Of course we take it for granted (it's just how we are!!) but it's true: a strongly-British-Colonial social trend for the last 300+ years helps! A few evenings ago, a small group of us older folk were chilling out in the breeze on the Hastings Boardwalk, when three boys aged about 10-12 passed us on their way to the sandy beach, and they all said Good Evening as they passed our senior presence. I turned to my wife and mentioned how nice and mannerly the boys were. So it's not everywhere: there are still a few holdouts! Here's a regular Sunday evening grouping of Ye Elderly!
  15. Interesting! Many thanks. I like knowing how systems work. Unlike many others, I don't take systems for granted.
  16. Sailaway at 10 p.m. out of Old San Juan PR!
  17. Many cruisers have never been in one of the ship's Cold Rooms but trust me ..they are a bit larger than your living room - and freezing ruddy cold! This one shown here was on an RCL vessel but I'm sure they're much the same on all modern cruise ships.
