  1. Fingers crossed. On Prima in Haven soon. Wish you and the GF were joining the TA πŸ˜‰
  2. TY I do know that in Fl ports for example--the outside folks are long shoremen/union and not cruise line folks. so the bags are transferred from longshoremen, through security, to inside ship handlers. With MSC YC bags, they are put on baggage carts at the pier --all together. I would expect things can get separated though in all of our sailings on several lines and various cabin/suite levels, - only 1 bag went awol for a few hours yet it still arrived by dinner time
  3. Interesting about the luggage. With MSC YC the bags are tagged YC and on separate carts. IDK that they arrive before/after other baggage, yet they do come early to mid afternoon. So in the last 2 sailings- we were on the ship at 10:30/11 in YC lounge. Had lunch (carry ons dropped at the room) and luggage was at the rooms by about 2-4. To temper expectations on our upcoming NCL Haven sailing, what is most typical. Please and TY for your thought.
  4. Back to casual vs more formal We like to dress for dinner-- meaning DH wears a collared shirt and blazer, I am in dress slacks/blouse or dress each night. What are your 2 cents on lines that hold to dress for dinner/evening lounge? Even at YC we have seen folks show up in flip flops and shorts for the YC dining room at dinner. That said, We are solid YC fans. And we are doing a TA in Haven soon so will be able to see firsthand the differences. Pre cruise we feel disappointment that Haven is Not YC. and all of the extra charges on top of Haven'$ price How is dress in evenings on Regent for dinner?
  5. Really nice! Sheesh-- Not even out there with coffee to read. Funny story -- YEARS ago on Carnival on the Serenity deck-- a bunch of hogs had left stuff there. We were there with another couple we met onboard. After 2 hours or so..We all moved their stuff onto a table with chairs and took the loungers/table in the shade. They came back like 2 more hours later--literally had NOT been there for 4 ours or more. They gave us a look and we ignored them. We were scheduled to sail Regent in fall 2021 for a TA westbound from Vancover to Japan--through the inner passage, across with 2 stops in Russia and then a few stops in Japan with then land touring Tokyo etc. Regent was disappointing in that when they cancelled--they did not offer to move the cruise to the following season- no price protections, no 25% good will like MSC did for cancelled sailings. Disappointing as we had sailed them years ago and wanted to ty them again. Your "notice-ings"/observations etc are helpful. How is the quality of the food compared to YC dining?
  6. Really lovely. TY for sharing. Hope dinner this evening is more pleasant
  7. No priority for the upper suite guests? Unfortunate that they don't use a Maitre D to handle seating so that those present could sit for dinner
  8. Soiled food trays gross me out is that even an expression or am I dating myself Not a big germaphobe yet really bad manners, lack of handwashing, using a fork/knife like a shovel and I am sick to watch I fail to understand why trays/glasses sit in public halls--when ANY crew/staff can collect them and bring them to any central station behind closed walls-doors. Embarkation can be crazy-- yet I don't believe that no crew passed those halls in the hours later/evening etc. If they see it-- it should be moved-- regardless of job description. I have to laugh about the RSS class of pax vs MSC... It is true that a big ship of any line gets a variety of pax from the ship within a ship vs GP... Yet I will say that ability to spend $ does not and will never breed class/decorum/manners/gratitude. Have seen abominable behavior ..and don't we all.. Just watch social media/news and the "entitled" In other news, hope you both are having a lovely vacay and we appreciate the comparison..as we have thought about Long sails, and ship within a ship vs an all suite class on large ships vs smaller boutique. TY for the thread. Best
  9. OK thats funny, and not. We did sleep great on Seashore, both mattress and sheets were lovely So sorry about her back. Can they add a mattress topper on it to make it better?
  10. Sailed Regent years ago. We had 3 cabins with our boys sandwiched between us and my late MiL. Had the balconies opened up for one long veranda which was lovely as it was an inner passage sailing. Our suite was lovely. Just the walk in closet alone was amazing. I recall some of the things re evenings as you mentioned We did go to a private party in someone's very large suite in which one of the officers came. I think too we did a bridge tour - yet this was back in the day and perhaps easier to come by Can say our boys had the cabin next to us and made great use of room service for pizza, burgers, ice cream etc. Have vivid memories about getting into and out of that tub ! Ha
  11. The showers in MSC YC seashore had both rain heads and hand helds. So nice We also recently sailed YC on Divina and the tub was great
  12. I know this to be true-- whether grappa, scotch, tequila Have a friend whose drink is fine tequila. Total respect for her and her knowledge When adding to our bar set up-- I have to research, as I don't have 'go -to's" at my fingertips. I should probably do that and add to a list/pdf etc so that ifkyk list is correct. Understand like others, mixing vs straight, temperature etc matters. TYVM for the link
  13. Looks perfect.Love the overhang for shade
  14. Yes our MSC butler was excellent at stocking our choices. In fact said that in spite of pre sail forms etc sent, that he liked to check and bring exactly what we wanted. A great gin martini is always in fashion. Gin Gibson too. I'd use the tequilla to wipe things down instead of drinking it after learning the hard way in more than once 🍸
  15. You have a retractable TV at the end of the bed? Nice suite
  16. Looking fwd to reading. We enjoyed our Regent sailing several years back (AK/inner passage) Big difference in ships/price tag etc. We enjoy YC, and do our best to avoid spring break. And I do call attention (via Concierge/YC Dir/Security) of child issues... Others kids (or adult bad behavior alike) should not encroach on my vacay.
  17. Enjoying your thread as we sail on a TA in a little over a month on Prima. Wile the ships differ, the menus and dailies give some insight. Re kids-- now that ours are adults, we do try to sail when other peoples kids are in school. Usually MSC YC and week long in Feb-early March which gathers more int'l pax in YC and few if any families. That said, we recently had 2 sailings and the large groups of18 adults traveling for birthday etc were LOUD and we'd ask to be seated as far away as possible in the YC dinning room...and we moved on both the lounge and pool decks to be away from them. Worse than kids. As I understand it--kids under 16 are not to be on Haven deck/in Haven pool? Right? Isn't that the published rule? If I remember from our early cruising days, the Carnival Serenity deck had a no under 21 rule yet may be off on that. On one MSC YC sailing I did complain to concierge that a couple had an infant in the YC pool (children under a certain age are not allow in ship pools per health code/maritime etc) I was patient while mom/dad took pics of the very little/very young one... Yet no, I don't want to be in a pool with diaper leaks/toddle p... Feel the same way about the other side of the spectrum in adult diapers. So I am an equal opportunity "don't p in the pool" gal. Love you pics of the fam and glad the girls and y'all are having such a great time. Great humor.. and no "Girl Scout Cookies -yet great engagement"
  18. Interesting. Does that After Glow go late? Was sorry to read in your initial post that MSC YC disappointed. The description of the kids hasn't been our experience with 8 sailings in spring on MSC in YC. Enjoying your thread and the pics. TYVM
  19. Yes this While we don't go to many shows etc, the ones we do choose were those. Not game shows. I gather NCL may find that audience participation was a touchstone for some cruisers. We don't gamble either--just not our thing. Though a good game of duplicate bridge, I am in (and often 20 yrs younger than the rest at the game) We are getting ready for a TA on Prima and I am wondering besides reading, if I need to bring Uno cards because there is no entertainment onboard! ha
  20. The cookies thing cracks me up-- never something I look for or eat on a cruise. Same for the bowls of M&Ms or gummy bears etc offered in Haven that people ask about or post pics... Just not what I'd want for snacking. Cruising offers so many choices and there is always something for everyone. πŸ‡
  21. Jockeys were part of the rearranging as I recall, and fake geese etc. Know of a yard that dressed their fake geese basked on the holidays and seasons. Back to the magnets-- I had put small flipflops on the doors of our cabins for a family sailing. 1 pr per person/so 4 tiny pieces on each door of the neighboring cabins. One morning we awoke to find them distributed down the hall on the doors like they were walking πŸ˜† I suspect the OPs magnets, being unique were indeed pilfered. Can't imagine taking and then keeping a stolen item. Yet crime is rampant even when its petty
  22. And it was before FB/IG, the "tube", selfies etc so none of those silly things went on into immortality. Only bad hairstyles in yearbooks survived unless already in the trash😜
  23. "Back in the day", a neighbor teen and her friends would rearrange the lawn ornaments, gnomes, fake deer etc during the night... could be picnic-ing on a lawn together, or in different yards...never destructive. Just silly teen pranks. Those said teens are now in their 60s... so maybe the magnets travel too? πŸ˜†
  24. Show has continued to be on our app for our sailing in Apr Just hoping there is more than this show in the theater
  25. Has this changed? As we sailed FtL to Barcelona and did have to present at passport control in the port at Barcelona (US cit not EU) It was smooth Here in FL ports the facial recogn makes it go quickly at disembarkation
