  1. I have taken 6 or 7 cruises and I think the "roughest" was a gentle swaying on a Carnival fantasy class ship as we were crossing the gulf current. It was noticeable in the theater when we saw the curtains moving and felt kind of funny. We adjusted after we went on deck for a few minutes. I also experienced this on my first cruise. I enjoyed it. So I am rather curious to experience rougher seas on a a crossing.
  2. Thank you for the website. I will add that to my book marks.
  3. Thank you for the reassurance. I was just curious about the sea forecasting website because I thought that was cool. I probably would not even know if the seas were rough or how high the waves were just by looking at them. Especially since the QM2 is adept at handling these conditions.
  4. Forsensic Analyses, Now that is funnny. I love lobster bisque so I gues I will forgo it on Cunard. LOL.
  5. l will definitely create a trip detailed trip report that I hope will be helpful to newcomers. Even though the days are shortened to 23 hours, we will probably be ok. We will do a couple of activities a day. The rest of the day will be spent eating, napping, or just enjoying the ship. I am most interested in the planetarium. This will be my first trip on a ship with several consecutive sea days. Previously I had only had two sea days in a row. Once on an NCL Baltics cruise and once on a Carnival Cruise. I was looking at the blog for the around-the-world trip on QM2 and I noticed that someone was using a website or app that forecasts sea conditions. If the seas are rough, it shows red, if they are calmer it is blue. I would be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of finding this website. It would be fun to use for our crossing.
  6. From what I understand the wifi isn't that great anyway. I think it would be best if we left it alone. Would it even work for text messages on an Iphone? I know sending photos or doing anything more is not doable on any cruise ship.
  7. I am sure I won't go hungry. That menu in the pub is enticing. There are several lunch items on there that I would enjoy.
  8. The Cunard page is not showing up. But I get the idea. I can pay extra and order things that I might actually like. Some of the menu options are meh IMHO.
  9. I just made the final payment yesterday. I have 300 in shipboard credit, prepaid gratuities, and dinner in the steak house. I am quite pleased with my TA. We are not big alcohol drinkers so 300 will go pretty far.
  10. Thank you. I this will help us to understand what to look forward too. I don't know why these did not come up in my google search. The one page sample IIRC came from Cunard's website.
  11. I have done google searches and the most recent is from 2022 and had one page for dinner. And the pickings seemed pretty slim from that one sample. I am cruising in July, so I will make sure to take pictures of all the dining menus and post if no one else has done so by then. In the meantime, I am curious as to what to expect.
  12. I would be interested too. I am traveling in July.
  13. Where are you trying to go? If you are traveling to points between New York and Richmond, you will have several choices. If you are taking the train further south on one of the Silver Service trains then I recommend taking the Silver Meteor which departs later.
  14. The cruise lines in Florida list Pack and Go rates a couple of weeks out. If I were to try this on a transatlantic crossing I would search for a deal on a round trip with one day spent at the other end of before coming back.
  15. This is an excellent resource. If even half of these are available there is too much to do.
  16. Thank you for the information. I have an excellent ta who I will put to work on this. I read The other posts about making sure to go through the old locks and will make sure to check that out too.
  17. I’m considering a Panama Canal in the future. Is one direction better than the other? Are there any ports known for having a dolphin encounter? thsnk you.
  18. I’m paying 4000 for 2 on my 7 day crossing. One way in bC or one person on an airplane is typically 5000 to 8000. A 3 day crossing priced at 2000 to 3000 is definitely competitive to air travel. Can Cunard make money doing this?
  19. As a professional educator I see the benefits in that this ensures a reasonable staff to children ratio for supervision purposes. It also could be an effort to avoid spending additional money on child programs.
  20. I did not know that 4 day crossings were possible. I would be interested in that as well. IMHO adding a few of these in place of those cruises to Hamburg would be a more interesting option.
  21. I've ridden Amtrak, and I have experienced Carnival, NCL, and HAL. Next summer's transatlantic on the QM2 will be my first on Cunard. A week long cruise on Carnival is significantly better than Amtrak, and I love riding the train. So I suspect that Cunard, which is usually ranked higher than Carnival, NCL and HAL to be much better.
  22. That’s interesting about the location of the various venues on lower decks.
  23. Imho it would be interesting to learn the differences between QM2 and a cruise ship and why there are different logistics to embarkation and its preparation for a transatlantic crossing.
  24. I’ve stayed at that Marriott in Brooklyn. Great property.
