  1. As always, great review Kim!  Thanks for taking the time to do it.

One question...in the Dominican Republic, I noticed that Sakari had her glasses on after you all started hiking and were away from the locker area.  What did she do with them while jumping and sliding?  DH wears glasses too, and we want to do the falls when we're back in the DR.  The one time we had it booked, we couldn't port due to winds.

  2. Here's a pic from online showing the steel door that can be closed.  It's a little larger than the regular balcony door so you should still have the window view in the event the doors get closed.

We've had roughly 10 cove balconies and never had them closed.  We love being so close to the water and enjoy the ones closer to the front of the ship but not all the way forward.  It makes for great pier runner watching.

You were thinking about them in the shower?! 😬

i figured someone would go there.  However, I would have bet money it would be @Roscoe13.  He must have rubbed off on you on the cruise.

Not going to get any casino comps with my crappy betting.

  4. What's that saying...better late than never?  We'll I took that saying to heart.  I started your review back in October and got roughly half way through.  Then life got busy in early November with daily babysitting (baby niece) and followed the holidays.  Today I was completely caught up with the current Tribe cruise reviews so I decided to jump back here and finish reading this one.  As always, you and your wonderful photographer did an awesome job with this review.

  5. @Greenpea2 - So glad you two made it through the wreck.  That's scary indeed and will take time to recover from, not only the physical wounds, but also the mental and emotional ones as well.  Use the current tribe reviews as a distraction so you don't keep replaying everything in your mind. 😉

Hi! That is so sweet! Yes just been busy with holidays. It's been good so far.

The whole DNA test ancestry thing got even more ridiculous. I am pretty sure I figured out the bio Dad, and if it is him, he was married when he was with my Mom. I de-activated the DNA portion for now. I've literally had 4 cousins from that family message me. One is trying to get everyone to take DNA tests. Basically this family is rife with secret children so it's not a surprise to anyone on that side if that's what happened. But I just don't really feel like dealing with it for now, I am pretty certain I figured out the whole story and timeline, and I might bring it up to my mom when we are alone. But it's such a can of worms.

I need to catch up on here, I am super behind. I also don't even know what cruise reviews are going right now.

We have two cruises planned for THIS year now which is bananas.

Hope you are doing well and everyone on here too!

So glad things are going well for you.  That DNA situation is...well, who knows. 😉 I know your true dad is the one who raised you.  The uncertainty of knowing the truth could be a double-edged sword.  You could have wonderful half siblings/aunts/uncles for you and your daughter.  Or that side of the potential family could be full of drama and just cause stress in your life.  I'm sure your heart will let you know if you need to bring it up to your mom.  Whatever you choose, good luck with it all.

Reminds me of 2017 when a tornado spun off Hurricane Irma hit the Port Canaveral Park 'N Cruise area (many Carnival Magic and RCI Oasis of the Seas cruisers vehicles):

"Among the many businesses destroyed by Hurricane Irma was one of the most popular cruise parking lots in Port Canaveral. The Park ‘N Cruise lot, used by thousands of tourists each year, was hit hard by the storm as she made her way across Florida.

In a Facebook post, the lot reported that before the hurricane, their staff “continuously prepped our facility for the worst case scenario, which was a predicted direct hit.” The post went on to explain that the staff periodically visited to lot to “assess the performance of our facility as well as the condition of” the cars customers had left in their care. As of 9 p.m. that night, the staff reported that there were no problems.

Cruise Parking Lot Hit By Tornado

However, upon returning the next morning, it was discovered that the lot had been struck by a tornado, several of which were reported in conjunction with the hurricane. “The force of this tornado,” they reported, “resulted in the complete loss of our Park ‘N Cruise home. Additionally, the majority of our customer’s vehicles received some level of damage,” including several which the post categorized as “a complete loss.”

As the Park ‘N Cruise’s Facebook page explained, “This feeling of complete loss is only equaled by our feeling of helplessness in our ability to prevent ANY damage to our customer’s vehicles. Regardless, of the fact that our business and facility is a complete loss, our families remained safe throughout the storm…and for that we are thankful beyond measure.”

Immediately, the company’s Facebook page was flooded with messages from longtime customers expressing their sympathies for the owner and hopes that they would be able to get the business up-and-running again quickly.

Meanwhile, Park ‘N Cruise was working hard to help customers returning to the port. “Customers currently on Carnival Magic or the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas can text their valet ticket # to 866-***-****, for an update on your vehicle’s condition,” said another Facebook post. “We will text back as soon as possible… please keep in mind we are without power and water and communication is spotty at best, but we will respond.”

Remember that one well - Total Loss Vehicle Party of 1 (well two if you count the DH too).

My vehicle's pic was on the Park 'N Cruise website so I had a good idea that it was one of the more damaged vehicles.  We were able to get a one-way car rental the day the port opened back up (and we weren't price-gouged).

Oddly enough, I was completely calm.  Carnival was great.  We were rerouted to Western Caribbean, kept safe, and phone lines/internet were opened up to all passengers when we found out the port was closed due to the hurricane/tornadoes.  I couldn't complain as we were safe and not in the vehicle when the tornado hit.  That's what insurance is for. Because of all that, knowing a day or two ahead of time didn't ruin our cruise at all. We thoroughly enjoyed an extra 4 days on our original 6 day cruise.

  8. Well, we have already had to reschedule one family gathering that was supposed to be today.  DH came down with a stomach bug yesterday so we had to bail.  Then two of my nieces have sick parents so they're out.  With all that, we decided to reschedule.  I hate it because I love the togetherness of the holiday season.  We don't have children so Christmas Day is very lowkey for us.

We are the hosts of the second gathering (Christmas Eve) so it will probably need to be rescheduled too.  We just can't risk getting others sick.  It might can be moved to someone else's house so we'll see.  Figuring all that out is on the agenda for today.

Colton is a vibe! We have one nephew in a group of four nieces so I completely understand Colton's thinking.
