We are booked on the Solstice for August 28 and planning to make final payment with the hope that we'll get to go. I feel like we're playing chicken with Celebrity....waiting for them to cancel cause I'd rather have the refund.

I'm doing all that a single person can be expected to do (and I don't think I'm alone...especially here on CC) and at the end of the day, all I have left is hope. So let's be careful not to trample on people's hope when they may otherwise feel quite helpless in this terrible crisis.
Stay well...
Thank you @chemmo for being a calming "voice"...
This. This is all any of us can do right now.

My final payment for a 27 August cruise is late May, 2 months from now. I'm in the "wait and see" mode at the present time. 🍷
We are in the same spot. Waiting.

I thought for sure this was a brochure from Celebrity at first glance.
Great photo!

I feel your pain! I feel like we've had the worst luck with mattresses at our house.

I don't have the kind of job where I can work from home but I sure am enjoying the much lighter traffic.

My cruise is in August. I really hope it will still go. Fingers crossed that this “threat” clears up ASAP.
Ours is late August so we are also holding on to the hope that we get to go.

While there can be generalities about health at different ages I contend I'm healthier than most 50 year olds.
It's the walking!!

I'm so glad to be traveling vicariously with you again and looking forward to your posts!

We are hoping that we'll be able to take our Alaska cruise at the end of August.
We booked this cruise to celebrate my retirement this summer after 35 years working for the Florida Department of Health....kinda ironic, huh?

I can't remember which side of the ship we were on for our Panama Canal cruise but we spent part of the transit up top with the crowds and part on the balcony. This was back before the canal was widened so I think we need to go back again!
I agree with @4774Papa that The Path Between the Seas was a great read.

Yes!! I remember Davey and Goliath but will have to google American Farmer. I grew up in central NJ and remember Sally Starr and Gene London along with Diver Dan. When I saw your screen name I heard it in the Baron's voice!

Maybe your emails aren't really from Celebrity? Phishing attempt....doesn't sound like a very good one though...

@Baron Barracuda were you a Diver Dan fan?

It's all good though. With this hotel I was looking at a long day of walking and if the weather is good, sitting on the roof top with a beverage.
This was part of my thoughts too when I booked our family at the Mediterranean for our August cruise. Please come back after your stay and let us know how it went!

Looking forward to your thoughts on the Solstice. We'll be boarding August 28th......10 years after our first Solstice cruise. Can't believe it's taken us this long to get back to it!

I read this with great interest as I'm retiring in June. My husband is already retired.
Our adult son has boomeranged back to us (with a job! whew!) and my first thought was "yay! someone to take care of the cats while we're off cruising!"

This is my conundrum for our Alaska August Solstice cruise....how ironic that my cruise to celebrate my retirement (35 years) from the Department of Health would be cancelled due to a public health emergency. You couldn't make this stuff up.
