  1. Seem to remember there were larger minivan taxis (think 10 pax or more per van) from the official rank. Unfortunately, do not know the price. But the despatcher at the rank will price for the whole van.
  2. Good choice…..No problems for either direction
  3. Sounds like an excellent plan…. Plenty of licensed taxis at the official rank. Hotels only allow registered taxis on their premises. Plenty available for the trip back to the ship.
  4. Very Large CVS close to OSJ Port… About a 3 minute walk from the port… Exit Port - Turn Left - Walk 3 minutes - Look to one’s right - CVS is on the other side of the road.
  5. Any cab from the cruise terminal rank…. About $40 (US) each way plus tip. Enjoy the floating inflatables amusement park, together with the views of same and noise
  6. Apologies. The New York Cunard Hotel from web https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/the-cunard-experience/cruise-and-stay/hotels If wishing to stay there, if not already a member, best to sign up for Hilton Membership, as there are discounts and concessions available for members.
  7. A previous post, which hopefully will enable one to come to an informed decision to avoid booking Cunard Hotels. Although it was for a Singapore Hotel, it can translate to New York. In no doubt CC people will be their preferences for New York at all price points and better locations. Quote start “From experience at the Fairmont being a Cunard offered Hotel Cunard makes contracted price deals with Hotels for “freedom of Hotel” aka Junk Rooms. This means your room is only booked 6/8 weeks prior to flight and the hotel will select the room. Rooms confirmed at check in and will probably be worst lowest floor, with no decent view (over the entrance and view of concrete and traffic). Any disputes, the Hotel will refer one back to Cunard, as Cunard made the booking. Cunard charge a Rack Rate per person, but the Hotel charges per room. We had a Fairmont Gold Room bay view (with many benefits) for a few pounds more than Cunard quoted for a “Standard Room” aka Junk. Remember, Cunard charge per person, for two pax the single rate is doubled to equate to a “Room Price” Also, a private car booked via Fairmont from Airport, then to Cruise, was only a little more than a multi-stop with diversions, Cunard 60 seater coach tour. Sign up for Fairmont Membership prior to booking direct, as there may be an upgrade offered on a first visit.. There are NO upgrades allowed, even if payment offered at check in, for Cunard JunkRooms.” Quote ends
  8. There is an official tourist centre booth and taxi captain stall with fares openly published inside the cruise terminal. The terminal is covered and includes many shops, market stalls, outlets, etc plus Duty Free.
  9. Taxi Fares ……https://www.antiguanice.com/v2/documents/Taxi and tour fares - ABTB final.pdf Outward driver will be pleased to be booked for the timed return.
  10. @fox02554 There are 3 great operators. Check one’s docking times with an operator’s leaving time to suit Silver Moon - https://silvermoonbarbados.com Elegance - https://www.elegancebarbados.com Calypso - https://calypsocruisesbarbados.com
  11. Because we like to…… It’s a nice place to stay.
  12. For something different, away from the town, consider Lime Wood - https://www.limewoodhotel.co.uk
  13. Strange to have received no information. Call again asking for a price for a Voyage and Airfare booking. Flight upgrades were available at all price points. Just confirm airline of choice and seating required. There will be a slight delay in receiving airfare price as this is handled by a different department and the booking associates will have to make an enquiry. Note to self… When booking Voyage and flight package, do pay the flight element in full at time of booking. This will allow one to access the flight locator on the opening of flight, for an early seat selection. Otherwise, one will only have the option to select seats from those remaining, after paying the balance, being months later.
  14. Taking an unlicensed cab is entering into potentially bandit territory. Don’t even think about it. Jintys are the shared community taxi service, used mainly by locals to get around, are safe and very reasonable ($2.00 fares etc). There are no published timetables.
  15. Could this assist https://maps.app.goo.gl/Gj1XXYscqmijP7L46?g_st=im take link and click on Open on top bar… it should open up for the route. From memory, it is mostly flat cobbles with some highish kerbs
  16. Take taxi to Gardens, enjoy, have a good lunch (booking in advance advised), plenty of taxis available for return. If not, the Gardens will telephone a local (known) licensed taxi, who will be there in minutes.
  17. Never used Uber, but cab was $15
  18. Happy to assist… https://www.therooftopguide.com/rooftop-bars-in-san-juan/arya-rooftop-at-olv-fifty-five-hotel.html https://olvhotel.com
  19. Consider having all one’s Dinner Wines collected on day one. Just speak with the MD. Copy Menus for the “next day” can be delivered to one’s table to select the appropriate Wine. For excellent value, look at the Bin Ends on the Wine List, also the Sommelier will have an off the Wine List “list” for recommendations. Use one’s Sommelier on Cunard, after all they may know more than one about Wine.
  20. They also correctly handle, store, open, breathe and decant to be ready for when one dines.
  21. Fully understand one’s direction. From a personal viewpoint, there is a published, very basic, minimum dress code standard. However, there are no restrictions on exceeding it. It is known that determined persons, with ambiguous and convoluted thought processes, can “officially” (in their minds) dumb down the code. For one’s part, it is known potential infringements are registered, with the miscreants politely spoken to by the MD.
  22. Not if being worn in one’s Stateroom and other areas where the following of a dress code after 6 pm is relaxed.
  23. The taxi segment from the port is easy. Although one has never undertaken the walk, according to Google it’s quite a way. G says 1 hour, but in reality it could be almost 1.5 hours walking in the heat/sun.
