  1. Because we like to…… It’s a nice place to stay.
  2. For something different, away from the town, consider Lime Wood - https://www.limewoodhotel.co.uk
  3. Strange to have received no information. Call again asking for a price for a Voyage and Airfare booking. Flight upgrades were available at all price points. Just confirm airline of choice and seating required. There will be a slight delay in receiving airfare price as this is handled by a different department and the booking associates will have to make an enquiry. Note to self… When booking Voyage and flight package, do pay the flight element in full at time of booking. This will allow one to access the flight locator on the opening of flight, for an early seat selection. Otherwise, one will only have the option to select seats from those remaining, after paying the balance, being months later.
  4. Taking an unlicensed cab is entering into potentially bandit territory. Don’t even think about it. Jintys are the shared community taxi service, used mainly by locals to get around, are safe and very reasonable ($2.00 fares etc). There are no published timetables.
  5. Could this assist https://maps.app.goo.gl/Gj1XXYscqmijP7L46?g_st=im take link and click on Open on top bar… it should open up for the route. From memory, it is mostly flat cobbles with some highish kerbs
  6. Take taxi to Gardens, enjoy, have a good lunch (booking in advance advised), plenty of taxis available for return. If not, the Gardens will telephone a local (known) licensed taxi, who will be there in minutes.
  7. Never used Uber, but cab was $15
  8. Happy to assist… https://www.therooftopguide.com/rooftop-bars-in-san-juan/arya-rooftop-at-olv-fifty-five-hotel.html https://olvhotel.com
  9. Consider having all one’s Dinner Wines collected on day one. Just speak with the MD. Copy Menus for the “next day” can be delivered to one’s table to select the appropriate Wine. For excellent value, look at the Bin Ends on the Wine List, also the Sommelier will have an off the Wine List “list” for recommendations. Use one’s Sommelier on Cunard, after all they may know more than one about Wine.
  10. They also correctly handle, store, open, breathe and decant to be ready for when one dines.
  11. Fully understand one’s direction. From a personal viewpoint, there is a published, very basic, minimum dress code standard. However, there are no restrictions on exceeding it. It is known that determined persons, with ambiguous and convoluted thought processes, can “officially” (in their minds) dumb down the code. For one’s part, it is known potential infringements are registered, with the miscreants politely spoken to by the MD.
  12. Not if being worn in one’s Stateroom and other areas where the following of a dress code after 6 pm is relaxed.
  13. The taxi segment from the port is easy. Although one has never undertaken the walk, according to Google it’s quite a way. G says 1 hour, but in reality it could be almost 1.5 hours walking in the heat/sun.
  14. Didn’t get it either. Thought it may have depicted a somewhat stylised version of Royal Ascot in the rain.
  15. There will be taxis available. Also, one’s driver can be asked for a timed pickup etc.. Only “a” bottle? 😃
  16. Just one’s thoughts. At that price, feel they could be Dom.Rep illegal migrants (and the like) trying to earn a few dollars. They are not going to advertise their presence and whereabouts. Legitimate operators (vetted) have to undergo stringent tests etc.. Consider Tours By Locals.
  17. Same here…. Enjoy the day. May one suggest a toast to Todd after snorkelling. Glass, 1 ice cube, pour 2 measures of white rum, same of gold, swirl, raise, toast Todd and sip large.
  18. Not an inside joke as one avers…..No humour intended….. A statement of fact. To assist one’s comprehension……. TOWELS: Arrive by the cheapest means; deliberately take the most annoying spot on the beach to spoil a view of paying clients; spread the ship's Towles; constantly repeat the mantra "beaches are free" like a demented parrot; do not spend anything at the resort; bring food and drink browsed from the ship's buffet, all wrapped in a ship's napkin; bury their picnic debris in the sand; use the sea, beach and all the venue's facilities for free; if there is charge for toilets, decline and use the sea; return to the ship by the cheapest means. Then when back in the Ship boast they spent the day at Carambola (Kim Sha et al) taking lunch and drinks there. HERDS: Arrive loudly en masse; stay loudly; have shouting conversations on their mobiles, or with other herd members, albeit 2 feet or 20 yards way; bring coolers full of Supermarket bought beer and food, then demand ice for free; bring boom boxes and play on highest volume; sometimes pay for beds but insist a colony of friends is created; complain about the price of venue's food as the reason for buying a single slice of pizza. Seek to use Hotel or Beach facilities for free, failing that, turn the sea into a Urinal (aka going for a swim) Abuse or ridicule other guests, and members of the venue's staff, solely for the group's amusement. Basically, it's a group who knowingly do everything possible to spoil the genteel ambience of the venue, and to annoy as many people as it is physically possible. Then leave loudly en masse. Other items of annoyance can be added to each of the above definitions as required.
  19. Never stayed there, but asked a friend who used to have a beach bar, and he suggested one asks questions of, plus prices by sending a missive to. https://cortslandantigua.com/contact-us/ He mentioned it was not the cheapest, but could suit. Remember Antigua Hotels always have been considered on the high side, because of the short revenue seasons and high taxes.
  20. If on a budget , then consider the local bus service to see the sights … inexpensive and reliable Link - http://www.busstopanu.com
  21. Feel the best people to answer this question will be the Tourist Board, knowing they have an internal list of quality Guest Houses and small boutique hotels that would fit one’s criteria. Here is the link for all questions. https://www.visitantiguabarbuda.com/contact-us/
  22. Stalls within the port area are happy to take both. The further away, the least likely it is for dollars to be happily accepted. Note to self. Old and grubby USD notes will mostly be rejected. They like crisp ones.
  23. As a recommendation from a person one trusts, we will now definitely take CG next year. thank you
  24. What a great call! Just Googled and wow! @zackarykeef will be indebted as the sail time is 10.00 am Looks as if @TTEllis has saved the day….
