  1. Clearly..Royal is a better fit for some..as noted in some posts above. We used to cruise on both X and RC but prefer X ships, X dining and the X programs. Books are loaded on my tablet, and the Cap Club perks work fine for us, esp with our Classic Bev plan. Hope the two lines do not fully blend! We are not jumping....
  2. never had that CK experience, but found Luminae on BEYOND quite lacking..so you will likely be better off. We can't all love the same things!
  3. we will stick with X... we are not suite customers so did not lose a Butler...We like the X ships..Royal has bigger ships , lines to get in to events, and too many pax.. So one less competitor for Royal space! We found the food on Oasis very poor compared to X but that was awhile ago! Glad we still have choices!
  4. No X cruises since 2019..so where did you jump to?
  5. I believe the free hand to hold on to an escalator is a rec safety " rule" for use of the escalator. If one person loses control of their bag, walker or stroller, etc, it endangers others.. so I think it's a good rule..My husb disagrees but he is a rebel! Being old or decrepit is not the reason..its carrying too much stuff!
  6. A good start would be to re- establish the Solariums as a spa- like quiet zone. X used to make that point, played soothing pan flute spa music etc Now we have loud folks partying in the hot tubs, all day card playing at the tables and the slobbering snorers! Not very zen like! .
  7. We are looking forward to.our 7 day cruise on ASCENT next month.. We expect the ship will be amazing. One port excursion we have reserved will be from St Kitts over to Nevis.. I recently took a short class about Alexander Hamilton based upon a book that compares historical & biographical works to the musical show Hamilton on Broadway..Nevis has a Hamilton museum, and I'm looking foward to that, plus the boat trip, scenery and lunch. We enjoy cruising the Carib..It is easy to access from the US East Coast, esp our winter abode in Fl.. We have cruises booked on APEX and Silho.. We are not drinkers so not booze cruises for us! Love the relaxing atmosphere, beautiful Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. Spa time! We enjoyed our E and W Medit cruises too but for us they involve long flights.. and alot of walking! Glad we have options!
  8. In general, they are squeezing out every dime they can! Pretty soon TAs won't want to deal with X if their clientele get screXed.
  9. cant recall which one.. not Cyprus or Tuscan
  10. Is this Luminae?, It looks like an area where we were seated, but never had anyone behind us or next to us.. The banished land but we had a good waiter! Too bad the food did not messure up!
  11. they maximize seating and table space and use less staff... very unpleasant conditions as your neighbor is able to play kneesies, esp if a larger person.. just reject that spot! plenty of nice alternatives..
  12. as long as they are well supervised and do not use the hot tubs as kids swim pools, whatever the parents decide is fine!
  13. great night time photos! hope no more wind.. it has settled down here in Venice Fl..heck of a storm!
  14. depends on the restaurant and location on E Class.. we dine early so had no ongoing issues with getting a nice quiet pvt sea view tbl for 2 .. in Tuscan and Cyprus..great Sunsets... Due to a last minute change, we also were able to have a beautiful corner table for 2 in one of the larger venues. our only bad night was our very 1st night on an E Class ship. ... They had long tables..like a summer camp dining hall. Each twosome was seated across from the other person..almost in the lap of unknown person next to you... and all in a long row...Orders were taken and served like an assembly line ..we made sure that would not happen to us again! Be firm but flexible
  15. looks great! Too bad no.one told us about that when we had a Suite on Beyond....and that was when we had the "But-in Butler!" One time I passed through to ask a question and discovered a nice bkfast spead there, again no one told us about that either. We hung out in that lounge when we boarded but not much thereafter.. it was kind of sterile. Outdoor area was much nicer..and more fun!
  16. so many of them could possibly cancel or downgrade..without losing too much! If no Butler is a deal breaker
  17. why? family time is great..I think X has a stem program.. just check them frequently
  18. hard for siblings to be apart but I'm not sure unrelated 9 yr olds want to hang out with a 5 yr old..all depends.. our Grandboys are 7 and 3.. and are very close pals.....but somtimes it's better for them to be with their own age group.. tough choices!
  19. just curious When will the SS bookings with BUTLER included in price but no longer provided...peter out? By then it will be a different world..maybe SS prices will drop accordingly??? Or maybe they won't???
  20. Hope OP gets a prompt refund from X and moves on to another plan ... not much more can be done to salvage this huge disappointment..Robots Rule! We never use cruise line air..just one more thing that can go wrong or trip you up . Tried it years ago, and the route they gave us was ridiculous..plus worst seats in back of the plane. We know the program has changed but we just would avoid it!
  21. Good report..if you can answer a few ques that would be helpful... What MSC ship? How many passengers? What was the itin How was your suite compared to X? What did you enjoy most? thanks
