    Gratuities

could not open the FAQ or locate the list which details who gets what. Here's all I could find: "How are cruise gratuities split? If you are paying gratuities you may want to know how they are broken down and split between the staff members. Stateroom attendants receive approximately 25% of cruise gratuities paid by guests. Dining room staff receive 43% and the remaining 32% is split between other hotel services."
  2. we've been to many lively deck parties on X and some not.. depends on the crowd and who is the party host, the program and playlist... The new theme is a good change up..we'll report back
  3. sounds very complicated We still use our Royal C credit card to accrue points. It's a bit difficult to apply to Celeb cruises but it works. .We were able to add some nice OBC for our upcoming cruise.
  4. Sounds like a great plan.. hope it warms up a bit so you can enjoy EPCOT. We are at our place in Venice, Fl for the season. We have lots of clothes here, but invariably we take stuff back and forth to N.Y. Glad we have sweatsuits and sweaters.. just one of those colder winters...but 50 is better than 20!
  5. If no one on staff takes charge or a nasty disagreement ensues....call for hotel Director or Security to sort it out depending on situation...! But make sure you get credit back for an expensive meal RUINED.. It's not the Outback on Friiday night. On Ascent, we have dinner booked for my big birthday dinner. New dress, hair styled etc..Not letting anyone ruin my night! Just sayin!
  6. wonder how X cruisers react to that? esp if Carnivore has the better bag!
  7. that makes sense. then adults time after! no one excluded and no one potentially annoyed
  8. no objection to kids..but a fancy restaurant should be for adults in the evening. .there are other venues like the cartoon show. X Used to have a great place..all a la carte, shared dishes, ordered on I pads, similar to Alice in Wonderland decor.. great for families and kids but was discontinued. sorry cannot recall the name!
  9. we walked out of BLU once..cannot recall which ship... very unfortunate experiene. Dining service was slowest ever so they were really pushing the alcohol. Table of about 8 adults were seriously overserved and encouraged by the maitre d to have more. Very loud, boisterous and disruptive folks.. All of a sudden a physical altercation erupted.. men and women all in dress clothes..very ugly . We and others left. No refund but we did lodge complaint! Say no to screaming babies and drunks!
  10. "The name of this new ship is very apropos as the industry rebounds, but also as Celebrity continues to lead the industry as an unmatched new-luxury brand and cruise line," said Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, parent company of Celebrity Cruises. "Celebrity Ascent will take the industry to new heights as it pushes the boundaries of what people can experience on a ship and how they experience it." We are booked for Jan 28t Will it truly be a new experience or was that typical PR?
  11. yes..they do adv some a day ahead. usually combos there is also discounted port pricing open to book on the Cruise Planner
  12. What to do when parents do nothing.? . Most staff are afraid to do the right thing..lest they get a bad review. A night out at an upscale venue for anniv or birthday costs a bundle and should be a special experience . It's not a family night out at Applebees!
  13. that works well! Good planning! when X introduced the Miami DJs on REFLECTION yrs ago, the whole ship was loud & shouty starting early am... could not escape endless loop music.
  14. we like quiet at the pool in am so we can relax and read. Games, DJ and band music is fun time in the afternoon if not rap..or offensive lyrics!
  15. There used to be an age req ..maybe 12 or 13, for most Specialty dining on X ..but that was changed along the way. A big mistake! Most lIttle ones are not suited for fancy dining venues...The meals are too long to expect they won't climb chairs, go under tables or run around... fine for specialty lunch and the cartoon show... . Maitre D should ask parents to remove crying babies, unruly kiddos and ask drunk adults to leave. We would have asked for a credit back if it was not resolved after the appetizer course! we would not sit by and suffer!
  16. I just bought basic ones from Amazon that are for concerts and sleep.. but Jim Iain and others have mentioned other ideas, including custom fit! Also some mention noise cancelling headphones , sound machines. Guess there are many options. Maybe try CC search feature
  17. No problem bringing my compact hairdryer onto the ship.. no need to hold down the button.. I leave my flat iron home. No way to escape " frizz" at sea.!
  18. great pics.. will be following Foods at Fine Cut looked great. hope it tasted as good as it looked in pics. We have a res for our fIrst night on ASCENT!
  19. Those packages also brought a new cruiser demographic to X . There are many who drink all day long to get their money's worth, while others pay the rising costs but do not consume the max ; in essence supplementing the heavy drinkers! We would favor a more limited alc package that included the water..teas coffee etc. Or maybe a wine package might be nice. As is, the alc packages are pricing many out ..even from the Classic. Neg posts do not bother me.. I just ignore if someone is harping on the same point repetitively or constantly touting their fav alt cruise line..over and over.
  20. some AQ class cabins are a bit blocked by higher class nearby cabins that jut out...we had one of these booked but changed as soon as we saw the deck plans Best to look at deck plans to see which ones might be a bit blocked..if they are close to the jut outs..
  21. sorry no idea.. We bring plain water but I do like the fruited water. Something with alcohol would seem not to make sense given the nature of the thermal suites..
