  1. I would assume those with an allergy to dryer sheets would not use the dryers, as there’s no way to be sure a sheet was not used recently.
  2. Agree! You’ve just rushed to the pier, endured the check-in process, and finally walked into the ship, so just sit down, relax and have a drink. No need to rush to muster, run to dining or show reservations, or sign up for spa treatments immediately. You’re on holiday, so lighten up !!😉😎
  3. They’re testing price elasticity (how much will people pay before the fare becomes “too expensive”) by starting out very high, since they have no clue how to price this itinerary. They will later lower prices periodically as part of. “Skim the cream” pricing technique as the big spenders peter out and the value shoppers come sniffing. In the end, they have maximized revenue AND determined how the public values the itinerary.
  4. Question of the day: How many times can someone repeat the same point and think they’re adding value to the discussion?? 🙄
  5. Funny - other cruise ships have steel “hull balconies” as high as Deck 8 to add protection from the sea, but this ship appears to have windows on Deck 2 that open, despite being designed for extreme weather locations. Just seems odd…
  6. Change your screen name to SeaSnark…🙄
  7. Thank God that’s over!! 🤪🥳👏
  8. No, I meant for the 2nd choice car at it’s sticker price. That’s what the OP was offered.
  9. Also keep in mind that every issue in this thread is a First World problem…
  10. Wow! Max speed is listed as 22.5 knots, so they’re REALLY in a hurry!! 😳
  11. So I walk into a car dealership and put down a deposit on a specific car that I really like. A week later the dealership calls me and says “We’ve found someone who’s willing to pay more money for the car you chose (cruise lines make a LOT more money on charters), so we’re cancelling your contract, but come on in and pick out any other car on the lot for it’s listed price. Have a nice day!” Fair??
  12. None. cruise ships never sit idle in port. Too much invested to miss a day of revenue.
  13. Amen to that!! Our bag was lost after we hand delivered our carryon bag to the person loading the bus in Bergen, who suggested it would be easier on us to have it stowed below the bus cabin. When it did not come off the bus at our hotel, we notified the on-site Viking rep that the bag contained my essential heart medication. After many hours of back and forth with Viking and the bus company, the bag mysteriously appeared. When we asked what had happened, we were told “You don’t want to know!” We were so overjoyed to get the bag back that we didn’t pursue the process. Lesson learned - never again!!
  14. Yes, of course you can make a reservation online or with a call center person, but the real value of.a TA comes through when COVID hits and you need to cancel multiple bookings. Not once did I speak with Viking post COVID, but everything got straightened out by my TA. Of perhaps you’re flying into or out of Venice and they change the docking point to 1 1/2 hours away. Etc, etc, etc.
  15. There is, of course, a practical limit to this depending upon number of pax delayed and by how long. The Captain just may consider the other 4.000 people already on board in deciding whether to hold up departure. Remember when the airlines used to hold planes?? That’s gone the way of the dodo bird.
  16. You mean the round movie theater. Nothing planetarium about that structure.
  17. How sad that we’ve come to this… Is it OK to break the rules? What if I break the rules of a big corporation - that’s OK, right? I’m not going to break the rules very often! My parents never taught me right from wrong, so it’s OK if I do this, even if you don’t. Stealing isn’t stealing if you don’t get caught, correct? Life is a zero sum game - for me to win, you have to lose. No, there is not a sliding scale of right and wrong that you can manipulate to save a few bucks for yourself. 🙄🙄
  18. I’m leery of “I heard” postings. If you actually observed it or experienced it, then thanks for sharing. But sharing someone else’s supposed experience takes us all down the rabbit hole. Not that such postings will ever stop. Just take 3rd party statements with a grain of salt.
