  1. I hope you don't mind me adding my two cents to this thread. I love talking about Odyssey.
  2. Have you tried the Two70 Cafe yet? The food in there is not bad and you can eat it in Two70 with its awesome water views.
  3. Does he have the Sri Lanka transit visa that was talked about earlier? Did RCI take care of that for all of the full word cruisers?
  4. If you feel so inclined, try a Hotel Nacional in Bolaro's and see what you think. They hooked me!
  5. The Effectors is also on Odyssey. I don't much care for it.
  6. Why can't Allure just come back to Ft. Lauderdale, doing 8/6 night cruises, where she belongs? And while we are at it, she can bring Mamma Mia with her.
  7. I had zero interest in Q class ships and I love O class. The first time that I sailed Odyssey was only because, timing, price, and itinerary happened to come into alignment. The ship totally won me over.
  8. Odyssey is one of my favorite ships. I'm looking forward to following along. Wishing all on board a great cruise!
  9. Perfect. I love that first lunch in the Windjammer, especially if I can get there before the crowd arrives.
  10. I think you covered it well. However, I think that between El Loco Fresh, Cafe Two70, Solarium Bistro, Windjammer, and Sorrento's that there is plenty of opportunity to grab something to eat on Odyssey without having to pay extra.
  11. Odyssey is an awesome ship, in my opinion. I think you would be fine cruising solo on her. There are plenty of options for food. I would not say the shows are the best in the RCI fleet but they are no where near the worst either. It is easy to find alone time when you want it and easy to meet and talk to people if you want to. It is a very classy ship and since you like to dress up you will fit right in. She also has one of the best designed Windjammers (RCI's buffet) in the fleet if that is your choice for breakfast and lunch. There is also a smaller buffet available in the solarium. The first time I booked Odyssey I didn't really want to. I like other classes of RCI ships. I only booked because the date, price, and itinerary all came into alignment. This is now one of my favorite ships in the fleet. However, we are all different and cruise for different reasons. The only way you will really know is to give it a try.
  12. I tend to agree with you. When you book you lock in a price. RCI wants people to book early and they make it very enticing to book non-refundable deposits. That involves risk as things happen in life and plans may change. In return for that RCI can take on some risk too. If taxes or fuel go up then too bad. That is the risk that RCI should be taking in exchange for those early bookings.
  13. Thanks. That read was informative and interesting. This will be my first new port in quite awhile.
  14. I really like Odyssey's pub too. It has a good location and if you don't want to pay for snacks in there then Sorrento's is right around the corner.
  15. Odyssey has a canopy over the Solarium which has hot tubs but no pool. I'm not sure if it opens. There are windows that slide open but staff comes around and closes them and tells people not to open them as it interferes with the climate control. I opened one once just to take a picture and a crew member was right on me.
