  1. Loved your very informative review! We’ve been on Celebrity about three times before, but this will be our first time on this line in about eight years. Plus we’ve never been on an E class ship. You mentioned you like the new style dining with the four main dining rooms. Did you have reservations each night or did you do any time dining and end up standing in line? From what I’ve seen on other lines, there is often a wait and sometimes it’s a bit of a long one. Did you have reservations each night or do anytimme dining? If you had snytime dinong, did you run into long waits? I’m not very familiar with Eden although I know many people like it. I see pictures on the net of a theater in the round type situation. Is that how the main theater is on the edge? Or maybe that is how shows take place in Eden? I didn’t realize there were shows in Eden until reading your review. Do you happen to recall which nights and/or even the times of the main shows on Celebrity? Like production shows, etc.? (It’s disappointing to choose a specialty restaurant and time, then find out that you’re going to miss a really great show due to your dinner timing.) Thanks again for your review, and if there are any questions I’ve asked that you can shed some light on, I would really appreciate your reply.
  2. Is it a large catamaran with seats as opposed to one where pax sit or lay on a flat trampoline or somewhere they can find a space on the deck surface?
  3. Hoping some of you who have done this excursion have the time to read through this. We are looking at this excursion and desperately want to take a leisurely sail down to the pitons. We have been in St. Lucia before, but have not been there for probably about 15 first time on a dive boat to all of the places this mentions except Pigeon Island, and we did pass the Pitons. Our beach was Anse Chastenet where we did the diving and snorkeling. (The way back was so gorgeous! Rainbows everywhere!) Last time in St. Lucia we went on a huge catamaran with seats lined up across the deck. Had newbies with us who loved it. I don’t remember who the tour company was but I believe we booked through Princess. We want to do something this time very similar. The big issue for us is though is my husband can walk & can go up and down stairs, he must be careful. Very steep, uneven, rocky, terrain, or more than about 20 steps with no handrail or anything to grasp poses problems. As long as he doesn’t have to do the rough, steep trails like that he’s fine. Neither of us will be hiking up to the fort or even hiking any of the trails. He is also able to walk through the sand at a beach. Important main question, do people get off the cat at a dock at Anse Chastenet? I remember accessing the boat from a dock when we were there before. I do know sometimes people have to wade or swim from a boat to access a beach. Don’t want that. My husband wouldn’t be swimming or snorkeling at the stop on the way back to the ship. He doesn’t mind just staying on the boat for a while while people, swim or snorkel. He’s done it before. I’m sure he won’t be up moving around a lot while we are sailing. .My concern is also any stops at Pigeon Island. Does one has to swim to shore? Sounds like the boat is stopped there for pretty long. There is another excursion on Celebrity that heads down to the pitons. Would have to check on the same issues , but of course it’s been fully booked many weeks out from the cruise. Not certain what type of boat. Just don’t want to end up on something where we would have to sit or lay on the trampoline. My husband would need something with a real bench or seat. Some of you mention some other companies doing a similar tour. I believe they were Mystic man and Papa boat tours. Can anyone tell me what type of vessels they had on those tours? I’m telling you, we are desperate to do another trip by water down to the pitons just to see them! Sorry for the length of this but hope some of you can supply some answers. Thanks for any more information.
  4. Thinking back, I think I may have seen them on the app. I definitely need to look again. Although I think whatever I saw had just one menu example for each restaurant. So I thought the menu stayed exactly the same in all of the 4 venues each night. I’m very glad to hear the Celebrity Signatures change each day. I’m certainly not blown over with the selections so far nor was I with what I saw before. Just not sure if what I saw was from someone’s post but I don’t think it was. Thanks to you both for your helpful replies. kwokpot, you really explained it well and the example is very, very helpful. I’m sure this will help others new to E class dining sort it out as well.
  5. Nevermind about my question about the same menus each night. Someone replied to an earlier question that answered it.
  6. Kwokpot. Thanks SO much and I’m very glad to hear it! All I was able to find was one menu example for each of those four dining rooms. Of course, they were each different. If they serve the same foods in each dining room, then perhaps the variation in the menus showing were examples of what is in each of those dining rooms on various days. thanks again!
  7. Perhaps I’m looking in the wrong place, but the only thing I could find was one menu for each of the main, no fee dining rooms. Some people have posted menus for various restaurants ( one I’ve seen a lot has a bunch of menus on one page are sort of crowded together). So when I try to enlarge them, they are so blurry they can’t be read. Can someone tell me if it is the same menu each night in these dining rooms or do you the entrées etc. change each night?
  8. Can anyone tell me if the dinner menus for the Continental, Tuscan, Normandie and Cypress restaurants on the Celebrity Edge vary each night? I realize the standard alternative options available on all of those restaurant menus remain the same. Helpful replies will be greatly appreciated.
  9. I see what you are talking about with the closet not having space for long dresses. My husband is tall and I usually like to clip his slacks so that they hang straight to help relax the fold wrinkle out of them from having been packed. I sometimes have dresses or other items that need a good deal of space lengthwise. We will have a regular concierge suite with the unusual “ extended balcony”. From looking at the picture, I would say Royal Caribbean’s Oasis and Voyager ships have better storage space in general. However, I can’t say for certain until I am actually inside our Edge cabin, trying to put our things away.(Boy, I hate that part of embarkation day, lol!) Jelayne, have you had success being seated with others by asking? I really will be happy if that’s easy to do on Celebrity. It certainly didn’t work for us on Royal Caribbean. After a couple of nights, we switched back to traditional style dining. The only time we’ve done my time dining on Royal Caribbean again was when we were with some friends, and it made it easier for us to schedule various shows that conflicted with traditional seating times. Going to get my hopes up! Thanks so much to all of you for responding!
  10. We’ll be sailing on Celebrity’s Edge in a few weeks. I’ve seen a number of posts Indicating reservations on our sailing are pretty much impossible to get except for 5 PM or 9 PM. So I guess we’ll have to do the “any time/wait in line” style of seating. Most cruise lines automatically put strangers at the same table for traditional dining, unless a private table is requested. However, with anytime dining it has varied by cruise line. (Royal Caribbean seems to discourage it while Princess seems to encourage it.) we much prefer traditional dining as we like being seated with others, and meeting new people. What are the chances we can get seated with others at the four main dining rooms on the Edge? Do the menu offerings in each of the four main dining rooms change each night, or are they the same each night? (I know the alternative menu options do remain the same each night.) Re: cabins: In concierge and other veranda cabins, on video tours it appears that there isn’t that much closet, drawer or even bathroom storage space compared to Royal Caribbean ships in the Oasis and Voyager classes. It also looks like the closet is positioned awkwardly, making access a bit difficult. Am I wrong or did I just get the wrong impression? Thanks a bunch for any helpful replies from those who have experience on the Edge.
  11. Find out if it is actually Celebrity, or an actual insurance company, providing the policy and paying on it if the situation arises. I remember years ago I was told never to get insurance through the cruise line itself. If something happened and they went bankrupt there wouldn’t be anyone to pay the insurance. However, I think most major cruise lines use an actual insurance company now to provide that coverage. Celebrity will be able to tell you. Or if they have sent you a copy of the policy and its benefits, it should say the name of the actual insurance company on it. I’ve used insure my trip before as well. However, I’ve never had to put in a claim.
  12. My husband has a fold up travel scooter. He can walk, but due to a medical issue a few years ago, a scooter is often better for him to use for better stability when walking long distances that might require lots of standing. We’ve taken it on many tenders. It folds in half and it is about the size of a medium, rolling suitcase. I don’t think you’ll have any problem. Then there are others that are also fold up but they are made and look completely different. Some of these don’t look too much larger than an umbrella stroller when they are folded. As long as the scooter is truly designated as a fold up travel scooter, I said go for it. You might hit some uneven surfaces along the sidewalks in town, or have to lift it off of a curb or something now and then to cross a road but you should be fine.
  13. Oh, that will be OK if they do. Hopefully, I will look better than and have on make up, lol!
  14. Thanks for the replies. I just decided to do it the old fashioned way. Just went to Celebrity.com and was able to use the photos I already took. Since everything else I had filled out on the app appeared when I went to the check-in portion of Celebrity’s website, I’m sure the app will pick it up.
  15. Filling out our check-in forms using the Celebrity app. When it came time to add our pictures, it appears there is no way to add photos that I took yesterday for this purpose. When I have filled out Royal Caribbean check in info, I’ve had no problem adding them. I’ve taken one of my husband and one of my self and cannot find a way to get them onto Celebrity’s check in form on the app. Wouldn’t dare allow the app to use my camera and take one of me looking like I look now! Hoping someone knows of a way to do this. Want to get this stuff over with! Any help greatly appreciated.
  16. Very glad to hear that, LGW59! So much easier than having to plan dinners and stagger everything around shows changing times and days and so on like on RCI’s Oasis class ships. Thank you very much for replying.
  17. I understand that the shows on the Celebrity Edge are a bit different than than the regular production style shows you see on many ships. I am especially wondering how their show are scheduled and if you have to make reservations for them, as on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis clas, ships? Are the ones on the Edge kind of staggered on various nights, or are there early and late performances each night for which no reservations are needed, like on Royal’s Voyager and older classes of ships? Are most of the main shows performed in the “in the round” type venue? I would really appreciate any information on the shows. Thanks for any replies.
  18. I did the health questionnaire on the app. Just gave up and went to the website to get the luggage tags. That is where I got them in past years.
  19. Thanks so much for your helpful replies! All setnow. 👍
  20. RCI sent us an email saying the health questionnaire is available for our cruise (which is tomorrow). We expected toget it today, but I am technically challenged I guess and can’t find how to a access it on the app. Additionally, I don’t see how to find our luggage tags on the app. Just keep seeing itinerary and daily planner stuff. An anyone advise me on how to find these? Thanks for any belp!
  21. Glad I saw this. I had no idea! Been on lots of Royal Caribbean cruises. Wondered while I was filling out the pre-cruise docs why I didn’t see any place to enter it. Thanks for this post & resulting info!
  22. I asked a similar question because we booked a neighborhood balcony guarantee. First time we’ve ever booked a guarantee. I had read posts about noise issues in deck 14 cabins in the past. Received some replies from people who said they didn’t have a noise problem at all, and some replies from people indicating they did have noise problems. Might depend on how sensitive you are to noise. Using the barcode trick suggested by many on these boards, I think we have ended up on deck 12 in a central park balcony location. That still could result in a bit of noise from the pool deck but hopefully not at the time of day it would matter much. Good luck.
  23. The true way to find out is to call Royal Caribbean and ask them to please check. If you don’t get satisfaction from a regular rep, try the accessible department. It may take a few days for them to get the answer for you, though My husband rented a scooter several years ago and we needed to make sure the beds were at the far end of the cabin, next to the balcony and not near the bathroom. (BTW, it was on an Oasis class ship.) We already had a cabin booked but I wanted to make sure it was OK. Ended up calling the accessible department. They told me they had to contact the ship to make sure, since there are exceptions to the alternating layouts of the cabins. Since we had booked without even thinking of this at first, we ended up having to change to the proper layout. We were given several cabins to choose from that had the right layout in our cabin class. The accessible department advised me to always check. We checked again for our next cruise. After that, we just purchased a small, fold up travel scooter the size of a medium suitcase. We can put that anywhere so the layout is no longer an issue for us. If you don’t need the layout for that particular reason, I don’t know if they will assist or not but perhaps they can direct you to someone who can. I think the other posters are correct in that usually the layouts alternate but according to Royal Caribbean, it’s not an absolute given.
  24. I’d love to know how shows on the Harrmony will be scheduled on it’s five night itineraries. Particularly November 7.
  25. I’m still having issues. Have completed check in for my husband and I. The set sail pass is showing a barcode. Both my daughter and my grandson tried with their individual Iphones to scan the barcode but it would not scan. We can all scan QR codes but is it necessary to download a special scanning app to scan this type? If so, which would you recommend? I’m sure I would get the same eesult if I printed it out and tried to scan the barcode. BTW, I noticed above where it was mentioned to sign into the app and then click where it says Apple Pay underneath the barcode at the bottom of the page. Unfortunately every time I try to log into the RCI app, it doesn’t recognize my password. I was certain I was using the same one I always used. Now in the last week I have changed my password three times and continue to have issues with the the Royal Caribbean app, which has been on my phone for sometime. So I just used the .com site to complete our info. I appreciate the help I’ve already been given but does anyone know why it won’t scan with the phones? Does it have to do with pixels/ image degradation or what? Thanks for any help.
