  1. Here's a picture of the deck of cabin #6173 next door. http://halfacts.com/6173-oosterdam/
  2. At first glance, 16 days vs 20 days, fewer ports of call and appears to be less scenic cruising along the Chilean coastline.
  3. I really like the Vista class ships (Westerdam) and have done the Zuiderdam and Oosterdam within the last year. We sailed the Veendam in Alaska in 2009 and are booked again on the Veendam in January 2020 for the Caribbean. The Veendam is a very nice ship but I think I would prefer a little larger ship under me for Antarctica and the Drake Passage. I am reserving comment for the Pinnacle class Nieuw Statendam that we sail in October.
  4. I asked that question a while ago and will have to find the link to the discussion but the overwhelming response was to transit from Santiago to Buenos Aires. I found the old post: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2664695-hal-antarctic-experience-which-direction/
  5. Passage to Eastern Europe is a 7 night cruise on the ship and 3 nights in hotels in Bucharest (1) and Budapest (2). We did this cruise in April.
  6. Here is our roll call for the January 10, 2021 sailing. Hope you join us. 😃 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2665011-westerdam-roll-call-january-10-2021/
  7. This was a Save on Sunshine fare with the non refundable deposit ($50). The flexible fare was $222 more and did not include the premium internet that the SOS promo offered. BTW, I did wind up booking this cruise with the big box store because they only wanted the $50 deposit and final payment was in October,-approximately 90 days before departure. The OBC was nice too.
  8. Another HAL website glitch? Who knows??
  9. Just looked at a January 2020 Caribbean cruise and while the deposit is $50, the balance is due on August 18th. I'll wait for the next promo.
  10. We did a three day extension in Prague in April and did not need to use a pin number with our credit card. We used our Chase Sapphire Preferred cc exclusively to avoid foreign transaction fees.
  11. Whenever I mention that we are going on another river cruise, everyone assumes it's Viking. Our first three river cruises were with Uniworld and very few people ever heard of Uniworld. Uniworld has an excellent product but doesn't do TV ads like Viking if any at all. We just returned last week from our second Viking river cruise this year and had another wonderful time. I'm sure you will have a great time on the Grand European adventure. Happy cruising. 😎
  12. The last two cruises we did offered a 15% or 25% discount in the Canaletto on the first night. Could you get the extra Mariner discount on top of that?
  13. You aren't allowed to mention specific travel agents/agencies on Cruise Critic. Big Box Store refers to a warehouse type retail establishment that also has a TA.
