  1. Yeah, the pricing is getting high. I booked the Oasis for this October 15 about nine months ago. Pricing for two people (inside room) was $980 and I got a $175 OBC. So right around $800. The prices are way higher now. Looking at a nine night Bahamas cruise on MSC for January, and solo it's right around $1000 including the drink package and wifi with $100 OBC. Going to try them out of NYC.

  3. Wow. I rarely get up before 9:30, especially on a cruise vacation. I usually hit the buffet late for breakfast, although I've been known to miss it entirely so I have an early brunch type meal at the buffet. I guess it will be O'Sheehans or the Local for me.
  4. That's not enforced as long as you book it showing an adult in each cabin. Once on board you can put the young adults in one cabin and the parents in another. We did it all the time with our three daughters. Never once had an issue.
  5. Again - so what? Pay it or don't order it regardless of whether it's a fee or not.
  6. What's the difference? You want breakfast delivered it's $5.94. You don't want to pay it don't order it. It is what it is. For two people ordering a full delivered breakfast it's three bucks apiece.
  7. I have absolutely zero desire to cruise on the Prima. From everything I've read it's not the ship for me. Maybe in the future if I get a bargain price.
  8. Yeah, I pretty much cruise only out of NY now since I live nearby in Connecticut. If I cruise RCL I take an Amtrak to Newark, if I cruise NCL I just take a commuter train to Manhattan. So easy and I pack light.
  9. I've cruised too much on different lines, I have about equal status to RCL with NCL, I've cruised Premier way back with the kids twice, done at least three with Carnival, HAL three times, Celebrity once, and a 12 nighter on the Queen Mary II with Cunard when it was brand new.
  10. Alas, I am but a mere Diamond. Four martini's is all they will allow me. I have been known to put a couple more on my tab...
  11. Thank you for the review. I usually cruise solo and I have no plans whatsoever to book the Prima. Not what I'm looking for in a cruise ship. Breakaway class for me, or Oasis class on RCL.
  12. For me, no way I'm using a $14 drink voucher for coffee. A nice martini or Manhattan every time!
  13. I find NCL and RCL to be very similar. I choose by itinerary, ship and price. I think I prefer NCL's vibe just a little more, but I'm taking my first cruise on Oasis out of NJ in October so that might change. I'm Diamond on RCL which saves me a lot of money on drinks so that is a big factor lately. Yes NCL has the drinks included on most fares but the pricing with that included gets pretty high.
  14. Exactly. Much cheaper than restocking and fueling in NJ.
  15. My shorts are very well behaved. Never noisy. We keep it to a whisper...
  16. Great review. Doing the same itinerary on Oasis in October. Can't wait!
  17. Who makes more money? NCL has to pay the tax to NY. Yeah, NY makes a little bit of tax revenue.
  18. Izumi is same on Anthem. People walk basically right through the tables.
  19. I've done it twice and I loved the short rib and the halibut. The appetizers are hit and miss but the presentation is amazing.
  20. Yup. Last year I cruised NCL out of NYC on a transatlantic that didn't leave port till 8pm. Drinks were flowing all day. NY tax was about a dollar per drink. Not even something to think about.
  21. I did the same thing on embarkation day on Anthem in December. I pre-booked for $16.95 during one of the sales. It was awesome. No crowd, I was there for a couple hours. The food was really good, had several apps, pasta, salmon entrée, dessert. They opened my bottle of wine in my carryon. Was stuffed. Same portions as dinner, a few less choices. For the price a great deal. When I finished, the cabins were ready. Best way to go. This was at Jamie's.
  22. Two bottles worked perfectly for me when cruising solo. Just almost enough to have wine for every dinner on a 7 night cruise. So this is a minor inconvenience as I will have to purchase wine for a few dinners. But being Diamond I get 50% off a couple of wine glasses, so indeed it's a minor change.
