  1. If you book the three night it's $131 for three meals. or the BOGO for $88. Myself, I booked Chops for lunch at $25, you still get the 8 ounce filet.
  2. I've been all around the country on Amtrak, sometimes over eight nights and always do it in a roomette, which I believe are about 4 by 6 or 24 sq ft and I love it. A solo cruise cabin feels huge next to that.
  3. Yeah, it was when cruising was just starting back up. It was basically seven lunches (including embarkation) and eleven dinners possible, and I hit Johnny Rockets a couple of times also.
  4. I had UDP on an 11 night cruise on the Anthem which included 6 sea days. Honestly it was too much after a few days. The problem on the Anthem is not enough variety. There's only Chops, Jamies Italian, Wonderland and Izumi (no hibachi offered). There's no lunch in Wonderland, so it was only Chops or Jamies for lunch on sea days. I don't really like sushi so wasn't that interested in Izumi, although I went a couple times. The lunch and dinner menus in Chops and Jamies are pretty similar so it got repetitive quickly and I liked Wonderland but it's the type of place you would only want to hit a couple times over 11 nights. But the cost was only $208 for the entire cruise so I didn't mind too much, at the current prices I wouldn't do it unless there was a lot more choice.
  5. They use a Barolo sauce if I recall correctly. Basically a wine and tomato sauce. That's the difference.
  6. That's my plan for my January cruise. Metro North train from CT to Grand Central, subway from there down to Wall St., and quick ferry ride.
  7. Obviously they have a pretty good handle on the pricing and demand.
  8. I've had the Halibut and it was delicious. The Short Rib is great too.
  9. Maybe it's only being offered on select sailings?
  10. I'll get in on that 😄. I'm 72 and got a every cent out of my DBP last year. Now I'm Diamond so I'm bypassing the package since I get the four free drinks each day. I'm sure I'll be purchasing some though.
  11. I mean really? That's your argument? Obviously if you're not drinking alcoholic beverages you pass on purchasing the drink package. Let's be real here.
  12. ??? Drinks of the day are about $10-$12. Don't know how you're getting ten of those for $74. If you're drinking four drinks, a couple of lattes and a glass of wine you're way over $50. If you drink moderately the drink package is probably not for you. For some it's well worth it. Five drinks is really easy over the course of a vacation day on a cruise ship for me.
  13. Depends on how much you drink on a cruise wouldn't you say? $74 is equivalent to about five drinks. I can go over that easily when on a cruise ship. Especially factoring in wine at dinner, specialty coffees, etc.
  14. I'm sure they didn't just decide to not order limes to anger the OP. Pretty obvious they weren't delivered for some reason. Stuff happens.
  15. All depends. Week after Thanksgiving I cruised on Anthem in a solo balcony cabin for $775 including all fees. And the balcony was huge. Regular balcony cabin was close to $2,000.
  16. I just priced two cruises as a solo with no problem.
  17. I cruised out of NY on Anthem last year right after Thanksgiving and there were few kids on board. Was a really nice cruise.
  18. The Verizon $10 a day pass only works when you're in port. Doesn't work when the ship is at sea.
  19. You believe in capitalism? People get paid what the market bears. In a publicly owned company the CEO answers to the Board of Directors. They're not going to pay him/her millions if they're unhappy with the performance. That individual has risen to that position. It's not like Joe on the assembly line.
  20. Exactly. You vote with your dollars. That's the point. If you feel the product is overpriced you go elsewhere. I'm Diamond also and that's a big factor for me. Just the four free drinks a day is almost a $70 a day perk. That's five hundred bucks on a seven day cruise. Plus the other minor perks. So that gets priced in when I look at other cruise line fares. That said I'm booked on MSC in January out of NY. Nine night cruise solo with the drink package and free wifi for $1,020, see if I like it. Three night package in the specialty restaurants is $71, gratuity included. Keep your options open, it's silly to just stay with one cruise line and complain.
  21. Not at all. Your point is you don't want to pay extra for it. It's been a hit so obviously many don't agree with you. You can always choose to cruise another line if it's something you can't live with.
  22. Yeah for forty bucks or so I think it's a good deal. Much higher and I don't know. But that's for me, I usually just hit the Island for a few hours and go back and enjoy the ship, I'm not really a beach person. I have to admit though, Hideaway beach looks kinda cool to me. I'm cruising Oct. 15 so obviously it's not an option.
  23. Rates go up and down. I doubt it sold out a long time ago. My cruise just sold out. They know how to manipulate the rates to sell when they have to.
  24. LOL. Love when people try to tell others who had good parents and who didn't. Judgmental perhaps??
