  1. I’ve never been to a Warners, so I’ll leave others who have experienced it to help you there I did grow up very close to Cricket and can confirm it is very near Crewkerne station, so a taxi would be fine.
  2. Well Harry, you can’t stand an e-card up on the mantelpiece but you can certainly chat. I’ve spent the last hour doing mine, which included a long message to my niece in Australia. I think the character limit in a normal card is 1500 but they also do specific letter-cards where you can ramble further With the cost of stamps now, the JL subscription seems a no brainier. I think it’s £12 a year, slightly cheaper if you sign for 2 years. You’ll need to check - it must be a *second year* for me
  3. Sue, I am so pleased for you all Good residential homes are so good for all concerned - I’m sure Mum will soon find new friends and possibly new interests I hope she will blossom, and that you and John will be able to relax … maybe a nice Canaries cruise to put some colour in your cheeks? PS Attendance allowance is still available whilst she is in the home
  4. Suddenly I feel festive! Hopefully this will be my card to my CC friends on my phone https://jlcards.com/r2lv8E (It’s a Jacquie Lawson card, nothing scammy, no Nigerian princes 🙂)
  5. Hang on in there. It’s the solstice in less than a week. More light! We all need it (or a sunny cruise!)
  6. If anyone deserves a little *thank you* it’s you Damian Enjoy your upgrade Can I be associated with the good wishes to those members whose life isn’t as smooth as it could be just now 2024 is round the corner, bringing … who knows? Good stuff hopefully
  7. All the best for the move Michelle. Your *doing it in stages* plan sounds good. 🤞everything goes just as it should We moved here on 18 December 6 years ago. (Sounds like a reason to have a celebration meal 🙂). It wasn’t the best but it was just the one stressy day; everything slotted in well straight after, like Tesco delivery, washing machine installation, post redirection etc. Our *meal deal* last night was good. Sirloin steak, chips, salad, bottle of Merlot, £49.95. Quite forgot about pictures but I expect you can imagine It’s a pleasant (December) day here. Dry, calm, mild. Can’t really ask for more, except maybe a glimpse of the sun. Off to the fish man shortly. Wonder what he’ll have today
  8. I think you’re right Dai Imagine the ‘different cruises’ enjoyed by, eg early risers v late birds quizzers v readers deck gamers v sunbathers keen excursion takers v port strollers foodies v buffet fans theatre goers v footie in Brodies fans solo cruisers v multigenerational family groups older couples v young families gym bunnies v library & talk aficionados inside cabiners v midship balcony-ers drinkers v teetotal table sharers v “table for 2” - all on the same cruise, on the same ship And that’s not even all the possibilities It is what you make it. I don’t think the ages of fellow travellers is a major factor. That’s just me though
  9. Graham’s steak looked good. We’re doing a steak & wine offer tonight. Maybe pics tomorrow? Loving Purdey’s pics. Sunshine! Thought for today, for the older readers (I’ve no idea if the attribution is true, but I like the sentiment anyway)
  10. Ah - I must have started during a golden period 🙂. The £999 fiords trip was our first and was September 2010 I think current prices are stunning. Having been fortunate to enjoy 10 years pre-Covid, and having tried many other lines, I think we are probably ready to leave P&O now (but who knows. Iona in the new year will be *interesting*). Those people still happy with the current P&O offer are getting a really good deal
  11. If the radio station being referred to is the one I’m thinking of, I must say that it has some interesting features News article are covered in depth, not raced through breathlessly, ready for the next guest. Always remember the publisher and where they are coming from and be prepared to pick out the non-hyperbolic reality Ive learnt a lot from assorted half-hour *stories of our times*, available as podcasts. It’s good for sleepless nights. I used to switch on BBC world service but this is much less repetitive PS - Why are we being coy? There’s no restriction on discussing radio stations, is there?
  12. £999pp for an inside cabin on a one week fiords cruise (inflation takes that to £1580 equivalent) There is really no comparison between prices when we had a band and ticker tape send off, *savouries* after dessert, crumble biscuits and a Stilton wheel Pays your money, takes your choice
  13. No deccies up here, yet. Maybe tomorrow. I think I have a few Bah, Humbug tendencies. 🙂 Here’s our meal from last night. It was brlll. Literally. Wouldn’t it be a great boost to the cooks of the world if more food had such positive names? Anyway, it lived up to its billing (brilling?), which is just as well as it cost an arm and a leg 😱 Have a good day. It’s raining again 😕
  14. Morning all Does anyone else think this has felt like a long week. It’s probably the time of year, dark days and endless rain! No rain forecast today though - hurrah!
  15. @P&O SUE - just a thought Has your Mum applied for Attendance Allowance? Money isn’t everything but it’s given directly to her to use for whatever - a cleaner, a sitter, a taxi, getting her hair done I’m sure she’d qualify, probably for the higher amount too
  16. Aren’t some people clever? This is such a silly trend but the result is quite uplifting when we’re out on a winter walk with wintery weather. It’s good to raise a smile Talking of weather … oh, no, let’s not even mention it. Ugh!
