  1. Maybe, just maybe, Princess started this rumor to get an unbiased assessment of what passengers want (aka Sheldon Copper). It's not like there aren't other places to smoke. My concerns are for other passengers in the casino and their own staff. It's not healthy for them 24/7/365 (or however long is their contract).
  2. I know of someone who works their way toward "without" champagne.
  3. Yes, it is worth it! On sea days, they are open till 10:30. Plenty of things for him to choose from.
  4. Red Velvet cake was never an option in the MDR (as far as I can recall).
  5. RUMORs have origins. Either OP started rumor or heard if from a distant cousin thrice removed.
  6. I know absolutely nothing about the Visa card. My best guess is that it is not since it is a promotion. No cash was exchanged for OBC.
  7. Couldn't happen soon enough. But just a rumor. Where did you hear this? Let's start with the casino....NOW.
  8. Your $100 shipboard is probably a promotional OBC...non-refundable. Stock holders share is non-refundable. Is that 21 days one trip? Equates to $250 OBC.
  9. Is your friend past final payment, then only port taxes and/or Plus/Premier (and maybe insurance). If not past final payment, friend "might" be able to add passenger for his same fare rate. YMMV. On occasion, I have known them to charge a higher rate (depending on voyage and who you work with.
  10. You will see port fees as refundable OBC on your folio. When? Were you notified by Princess? Or looked on your app? I just learned that the app sometimes glitches…minus a port although still showing on personalizer. On our north bound New England voyage, Newport was cancelled enroute due to weather last summer.
  11. This is a very old thread (June 2, 2015). There are so many different itineraries....all which list ports that require a water shuttle. It would be very difficult to list random ports. What is important is that anyone doing an independent tour that requires a water shuttle needs to make sure they give themselves enough time to get ashore (and back to the ship).
  12. It has been posted elsewhere that guest entertainers are NOT passengers and therefore not subject to the PVSA. Can't verify the post, but I am sure the poster will claim credit. (thank you). If she is staying on, why would the show times be different? I know that some ports I've been to, they bring on the entertainer for a show before the ship sets sail (thus early show). Honolulu, Alaska, and Norfolk come to mind.
  13. Lucky that you needn't chase all over the place for a photo. None of my local offices take photos. We do have one location that will accept applications for first time passports.
  14. Good decision to renew her passport. From my understanding, the Post Office is not involved in the renewal process. You will need to get photos (from CVS, Walgreens, AAA, etc), fill out the paper work, submit passport. The Post Office did recommend sending it using one of their one rate envelopes. You will have the ability to track it (included service). That's all the Post Office does...to send it to the Passport Office.
  15. I can see your point. BUT....it shouldn't be handled this way by Princess. Just a lot of unnecessary steps to jump through with the same results. How hard can it be to "fix" this? (aka Sheldon Copper).
  16. I have yet been able to book a complimentary Crown Grill time yet! Did try twice on up coming cruise. Both times charged my account before “asking/confirming”. Cancelled both times since I don’t want more OBC. Currently getting unavailable or error message. I just call when I get onboard. Have a great time on your well earned cruise.
  17. I bought 2 purple Delseys. One died (zipper failure). Delsey replaced it, but purple was no longer available. It was so easy to spot coming down the luggage shoot. I now travel with colored luggage straps. Makes it easier to pull the luggage off the carousel and to identify. Thanks for you for your true experience story.
  18. Thanks, I consider any costs to distribute funds as "administrative costs". Financial term is not my thing and lost on me. Glad there are others more savvy.
  19. Dear OP...You are so close to your cruise date. I would wait and just allow the crew appreciation to accumulate while on board. If you had asked this question months ago, I would have suggested something different. Like. if you are working with a budget, then pre-paying is a good option to reduce your bill at the end. Do not prepay if... You have the bundle (Plus or Premier). You have On Board Credit You think you are going to win in the Casino, bingo, lottery. Disregard all the nay sayers and negative energy. The crew are hard working individuals (front/behind the house). Princess does not "skim" from the pool except for administrative costs. The crew benefits with a percentage of the amount depending on their job AND, I heard, used for incentives. I would rather you not leave an additional tip at the end for individuals or carry dollars around with you for those you run across if your budget is tight. Instead, accept Princess' rates and call it good. You will run the gamut of opinions regarding their own personal feelings about tipping. Do what you feel is best for you. I have never (well, maybe 1% of the time) run into a crew member that didn't earn my respect.
  20. One of the passengers took the lead. They set up lunches, tea time, slot pull, a birthday party, attended most, if not all gatherings in Vines, and a few other things that I did not attend.
  21. This was many moons ago (2006)….Pride of America voyage around the islands. My New England cruise this past summer had a very active group of solos. But we had a fearless leader!
  22. @reedprincess Great catch. Went right over my head.
  23. All of my luggage pieces have 8 wheels (2 on each corner). I will admit that carpets of the death of any luggage. I am currently researching silicon wheel covers. But I don't have Amazon Prime and refuse to pay for shipping from Walmart. Delsey has a terrific warrantee that I have claimed a couple of times. I can only wish that someday, I will be able to travel with just a carry on. You guys have my respect.
  24. Yes, there are opportunities to meet other solo cruisers. You need to be friendly and welcoming. Attend your Roll Call Meet and Greet. Princess will have a solo's gathering...stupid time....5 PM. Join a group for Trivia. Talk to everyone. On one NCL cruise, I was THE ONLY ONE that attended the gathering. Just me and the cruise director assistant. On another cruise, my friend and I were headed toward another Princess solo gathering. We ran into the friendliest group of people in the Wheelhouse. They welcomed us with open arms. But they had to correct us about 10 minutes into the meeting. They were the LGBT group. We were invited to stay, and did. Most fun we had all cruise.
  25. Your lobster plate looks better than the awesome lobster roll I got across the street. I guess in the back of my mind, I should have remembered that the Future Cruise Consultants were now "taking care of" Elites (all things related to Captain Circle stuff). No wonder there's inconsistencies with perks. I stopped attending Captain Circle parties post pandemic. Another miss by Princess.
