  1. Does no one walk up to anyone else and ask if they are on Cruise Critic? I do it all the time. We were sitting next to another couple in Hooked, and I figured out she was from CC, and had a great chat. All they can do is say, no, what? It is fun to meet other cruisers. ☺️
  2. Quick story about my lovable dentist. I started seeing him when I was 12, and he retired when I was 62. When I had 3 crowns and was looking at my fourth, he said, "Well, THEY used to put these large fillings in back teeth, and they expand and contract." I looked at him and said, "You put them in." He rolled over to my file, and rolled back, and said, "Oh yes. Sorry. We have had a long relationship." 😀 He was really nice, and a cruiser. We talked more about cruising than dental issues. He made me think about an Amazon River cruise. I think that would be really interesting. ☺️
  3. I loved my dentist! I saw him for almost 50 years, and Bill saw him too, and friends. I would ask him about stuff, and he would laconically reply, "Well we could do that, or we could wait and see how it goes". And then he retired and sold it to a new family practice. Upsell on every visit. The hygienist just about drowned me with the flusher. I walked out before the fluoride varnish or the 2-minute doctor exam. They still charged my insurance for the fluoride varnish, and we haven't been back since. I have to find a new dentist. 😁
  4. WOW! That is incredible! What a neat thing to see. My dad woke me up when I was a child to see them when they came down as far as Seattle. My Instamatic camera would not have done them justice. It looked like a white, shimmery curtain with the naked eye.
  5. Sorry Dave. We don't actually have whooping cranes. He's a Great Egret. ☺️ That is pretty far north for him though. It looks like a great RV spot!
  6. The tile murals are all along the left side of the walkway as you go towards the Casino. I have a nice one of the buffalos, but I am not going to dig out the photo album tonight. (pre-digital) Catalina is famous for their tile art. I can see them in the background in your photos on your walk. ☺️ History. In 1927, William Wrigley, Jr. built a tile and brick pottery on a beach located near Avalon, Santa Catalina Island. The new pottery became Catalina Clay Products, a division of Wrigley's Santa Catalina Island Company. It probably was that tour. There are a lot of old photos. The ballroom is magnificent, and there is an old ice cream parlor setup, (no ice cream) where they used to have dances and such during Prohibition. It was really interesting.
  7. Look at those big ears and beautiful eyes! ☺️ We miss Bobby, more than we thought we would. She is a gorgeous Tabby. Thanks. 😼
  8. Beautiful photos Harry! I am surprised you didn't take any pictures of the beautiful tile murals on the walkway to the casino. I have photos of them in the album, but I don't seem to have any on the computer. 😊 We took a tour of the Casino last time were there. I don't remember if it was a movie theater then or not. Most of the tour was upstairs in the upper levels.
  9. He is a cool looking Tabby cat! I love his eyes and his big ears. Thanks Dani. ☺️He probably understands Dutch. I believe @TravelGirlinDallas 's Lucy and @h20skibum 's daughter's cat Ricky are also Tabbies. The all have similar markings. The memorial stones are very sad. The number of lives lost is just horrific.
  10. You're still on a cruise. 50% OBC and free drinks...We would take it without hesitancy. If you fly back, you will have to do it on your own dime. And they have been very firm about no additional compensation.
  11. I think so too! I was describing it to Bill. It is really interesting. It is like Roman satire or something? ☺️
  12. @Etta1213 and @grapau27 Our pets always gave us such comfort and joy in this life. If there is an image of an afterlife, I always imagine it with my parents and all of my previous pets there. How could they not be there? ☺️
  13. Thank you all, for the really kind remarks. I was very sad and blubbery when we came home and started cleaning up all of his things. It really does help to know that others understand how attached you can become to a pet. We don't have kids or grandkids, pretty much everything revolved around Bobby, and making sure he had his medications and food twice a day. Thank you. I truly appreciate your lovely sentiments. ☺️
  14. Poor Bobby is gone. In addition to his out-of-control hyperthyroidism, his last labs showed very poor heart and liver function. And then this past week, he developed ascites, with fluid building up and distending his abdomen. We were able to get him into the vet this morning. Poor baby, he was in pain, and we agreed to have him euthanized. He was the last of my mom's cats. It is for the best, but always so sad.
  15. Thanks! That looks awesome! We have never been to New York. With RC prices, we might be looking at a few land cruises to the northeast. ☺️
  16. I'm just kidding. It looks like they are having a wonderful time. And it is a great, happy photo of your boys. 😊
  17. How long does it take to get from Crown Bay to Red Hook? When we did it we were going from Havensight to Red Hook, and it was a bit of travel time.
  18. Thank you Etta. He is kind of an ill-mannered cat. His previous name, given by my mom, was Bad Boy. And he used to be on Paxil, when she had him. Poor Bobby. He is not doing very well. Frequent flyer to the vet. But I appreciate your lovely sentiment. ☺️Thank you.
