  1. We contacted the shops services department , Because we are in handicap cabins & being diabetic they placed us in early dining on all 3 cruises , We have low salt & no sugar diets .We know that carbs elevate A1C levels . Actually knowledge of what to eat is 80% of the battle .More vefies & lower carbs . I also think that they know I have a electric scooter also maked it better for the early dining slot
  2. We booked a cruise oj HAL & requested early dining . We then get a message that we are wait listed . what does wait lisred actually mean to be able to get early dining ? Being disabled with meals needed at certain times wait listed does not mean any thing to us so can we get HAL to get us on early dining with medical needs ? TIA
  3. thanks Crystal . We will send the TA the e-mail as we get closer in to the Jan 28 ,2025 Hawaii cruise . Your 35 day cruise to Hawaii & Tahiti follows us . Wish we could have done that cruise but ,after die consideration Iwe came to the conclusion our ages would not work for such a distant cruise if in the event od illness how would we get back . you will have a grand time on that ctuise .I followed the one earlier this year on the board here & people had a wonderful time . toy certainly will enjoy your cruise Cliff
  4. We will buy $800 AARP gift cards to pay gratuities for our 18 day Hawaii cruise & some OBCs for speciality restaurants . Our question is should we have our TA apply the Gift Cards for on board credit or to take the gift cards numbers & pin numbers & when on board go to customer relations & have them apply the gift cards ?
  5. Smart move . The upgrade is definitely worth it alone
  6. True that CO is much quieter because it is a lot smaller restaurant than the MDR & the same is true in land based restaurant sizes ,The only problem is the Club Orange sells out rather quickly as experienced people know not just the dining benefit but the cabin upgrade & priority boarding & rendering & a special line at customer relations . Simple answer is " whats not to like "
  7. Very sad .Prayers for his family & fellow crew members
  8. We just told our TA to speak with a HAL supervisor to get the $200 in AARO credit added to our in board credits on our Jan 2025 Hawaii cruise .Thanks for the tip
  9. Mary would you do the Japan /Korea itinerary ? About a one way to Hawaii or from Hawaii as far as we know it is done by Celebrity but from Vancouver only
  10. Do Mariner discounts work in this new Fish restaurant ?
  11. We know that Koningsdam will leave the SD market during 2025 to the East Coast doing a Panama Canal cruise . does any one know when or if koningsdam will be back to San Diego & will Nieuw Amsterdam be staying in the SD port as well ? TIA
  12. Hard to understand that X leaves the west coast maeket to other cruise lines . Perhaps one day we will see a X ship working the West coast .Hawaii , South Pacific , Japan .Korea ie As flying becomes more burdensome & expensive ,people who can drive to West coast ports will then skip the East coast cruises Thanks to every one for their input 😃
  13. We have done the Hawaii Cruise R/T SD many times . Walking & meeting fellow passengers ,gym time & pool time . Sauna & Steam room time & may be a massage . Going to lectures . On cthe way ti Hawaii , Ukulele classes , Hula classes & making Hawaiian leis ie
  14. All that is true for open seating . The cruise line needs to get their act together but mthat is not that uncommon on other lines as well . The CO dining room is small & that is the primary reason for the sound levels .It also has low ceiling & most likely a acoustic material
  15. In the past we sailed on Ryndam ,Osterdam & Eurodam . Truly I did not notice a huge difference in the MDR acoustics . We had open seating dining ion that pre Christmas cruise on Koningsdam & there was no problem in holding a conversation . Some people's hearing is different thsn others is the inly thing that comes to mind .
  16. Another item that impacts cruise lines is the surging fuel costs . Thus ,imo the reasons were several why the stock went down once again ,Add surging fuel to a possible recession today & high debt that needs to be serviced & thus creates a storm
  17. yes; however things do change & no one has a crystal ball . The Dow dropped nearly 500 points & all the indxes show red . Then there is a possibility of a recession this year . Well CCL rdacted badlt because a recession means less bookings & CCL does need to keep their ships dull to keep paying that big debt
  18. Then Hank will you sail once again on HAL ships ?
  19. If you hold imo the likely hood of a profit is real with CCL .But ,with this uncertainty if where fuel prices will end up & ,the possibility of a recession which definitely impact new bookings is like tossing the coin in the air & making the cirrect call before it hits the ground
  20. We agree 1000% . We moved over a while back to investment is precious metals for most of our investing capotal . It is not that CCL or RCCL is going out of business but in this economic environment it is better to be safe than sorry . Oil is another good investment for these times
  21. imo the bottem line is if you want small ship environment in the future then you will be sailing on the higher end lines like Seaborn .Most people will cintinue to sail on the larger & mega sized ships of the future ,Even CCL for their Carnival band has ordered new larger ships We can understand the desire for smaller ships . Those which can get into the smaller ports of call & stay for 2 or 3 days with far less people . But ,you will have to pay a lot more money for that style of cruising .
  22. Yes people should choose what type of cabin & ship fits their wants & needs ;but ,to think HAL under Carnival Corp ownership will have small ships in the future is dreaming . Princess just launched Sun Princess ,a new class of liquid Natural Gas .The Ship is about 177.000 tons .The older & less efficient ships are headed to the scrap yards as they phase them out .This is the future of mass market cruising at a decent price competing well with land vacations . Look at the record of Icon of the Seas .since that monster ship of 250,000 gross tons jas been sailing ,it is full at the highest prices ever . That ship can carry over 8000 guests
  23. We never have heard any noise coming from other staterooms & we sail only on Koningsdam because we live here in San Diego , We have dine multiple voyages on Kdam & the dining room did not seem any noisier than any other ships .in fact we had on average great service in the MDR . Just once we saw a problem is when over the Chistmas holiday & understaffed with 500 kids on board when HAL had a sale kids sail free . BTW that can happen to any of HAL's ships that HAL euns the kids sail free sale In the future HAL will not have small ships as long a CCL own them . The move in the cruise business is big is better . Only the high end cruise lines will have the smaller ships like Seaboen , Viking ie
  24. Today April 12th CCL stock has been dropping rather quickly . Some professionals cin the stock market are saying a recession could happen & cruise line stocks would be negatively impacted for new bookings .Certainly fuel prices have soared adding to the woes of inflation & cost of energy for all cruise lines . The cruise line business is sensitive against land vacations & has won every time on a cost to cost basis ; but ,if there is a recession all bets are off imo when it comes to owning CCL stock . just keeping the 100 shares for the OBC
  25. Since the prices have increased so much HAL could afford better music entertainment imo
