  1. My experiences have found i'm frequently better off with booking myself (also solo traveler) Sometimes not only will i get my choice of flights but I'm in control of my reservation. As a solo with seating assigned just a few weeks before cruise you are likely to get a middle seat, and 3 connections causing extremely long travel time
  2. If you are on a back to back do you have to find a covid testing site in the departing port for the second leg?
  3. I agree. I've always gone home with a empty feeling. Not just the gambling but the drinking, party-til-you-drop phony nature of the place. Its glitz without substance.
  4. May 5th, 1130 entry, non-suite line indoors maybe 15 minutes to get through...nothing extraordinary, better than many cruises. Really only challenge is entry on deck 5 via winding through rising ramps from ground level.
  5. I have kidney failure and a strict 1000mg. Most low sodium diets allow 2000mg. I need my food cooked without salt. Basically i need whole foods. No sauces, no salad dressing except vinegar and oil, unsalted butter. A slice of bread or a roll may have 100-300mg of sodium! Baked potato rather than mashed potato (1/2 cup of mashed potato is about 350 mg).Unless your specific requirements are defined you can easily exceed your sodium limit. Once you know your own requirements its a matter of getting the matre'd or food manager on your side. Its your life - be vigilant! The good news, so far Viking, NCL, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean have all step up and helped me meet my requirements.
  6. I frequently travel with my friend. If we each have stock can each of us get shareholder benefit obc when sharing a room?
  7. I remember the first time i saw Botticelli's Birth of Venus I thought it was pretty mediocre and Malevich's White on White in MOMA leaves me blank. Musee de L'orangerie in Paris was a bust for me because I thought most of Monet's Water Lilies exhibit was boring I've decided art experts are like wine connoisseurs. I'll never understand it so i stick to what I like
  8. So much depends on your personal lifestyle, time of year, weather. I'm basically a low maintenance kind of person and I don't mind washing lightweight items. There are abundant resources online for what to pack, how to pack, and how to minimize your packing if you want to do this. I spent 7 weeks in Europe last fall with a carryon and personal item. And a recent 10 days cruise to Bermuda and Bahamas with an underseat carrier and personal item that included my mask and snorkel. So to answer your question: yes its possible if you want to, and if this choice doesn't make you feel like you are depriving yourself of what are essentials to you.
  9. actually i was just using the description of the sail-away location from the cruise several years ago - funny that the only thing i thought was worth seeing was sailing away from Venice - which was my point. Venice was disappointing and the only part that lived up to the bucket list hype was sailing away!
  10. I thought Venice was greatly overrated. Hot, muggy, stinky, super crowded, expensive. Rooms smelled moldy. Cruising out of the Grand Canal was the only part I actually felt lived up to the hype but you cant do that anymore.
