  1. I haven’t asked yet, but I haven’t seen any on my travels around the ship.
  2. Took some photos of deck 11 before anyone would be featured. I won’t have faces in any of my photos. The deck pads aren’t out yet.

    Butlers

The mind boggles! In a word, NO.
  4. I can only comment from a QG aspect and with a lovely cabin and restaurant table position and we are very satisfied in comparison of the same on the Vistas. There are snags but the main one, namely the speed of lift door closure is, according to my visit to the front desk, 'being addressed'. We haven’t noticed any issues on deck 11 other than the twerp who couldn’t read and took two bottles of beer into the hot tub with him.
  5. I had this conversation on Wednesday with our wine waiter ( fabulous chap, the best we’ve ever had on Cunard) we collectively decided to pre buy the table wine in order to avoid any possible extra tax, Spanish or not.

    Butlers

The beauty of many questions is they can be answered.

In hundreds of nights in QG on QV we have never asked our to unpack but yes, you can ask the butler to unpack but don’t be upset if it’s not immediate. Far quicker to do it yourself. No idea on the cocktail shaker and if it’s that important, take your own to be sure of having one available. 🙂
  8. Lovely relaxing afternoon on deck 11 with a cup of tea ( declined cakes and finger sandwiches) and a great book. Not at all busy, just pleasantly populated. It really is a lovely set up. Interesting to see if hot tub rules will be policed. The no glass near the tub didn’t seem to be important to one chap this afternoon.
  9. Nobody should be worried about social issues on Cunard. We have come across the nicest and kindest of folk, from billionaires ( I checked in the WSJ) to ordinary folk like us. Yes there have been a couple of folk over the years ( not bad really in over ten years of Cunard sailings) who were to be laughed at behind their backs for their uppityness but they were to be ignored because in truth, folk like that generally have nothing to be uppity about and to be fair, the only judgemental attitudes I have come across have been on this board and most definitely NOT on the actual ships. Everyone is as good as the next passenger so any social anxiety should be put to rest if possible. First toe in the water and after that, bingo. Hooked. 😀
  10. The mobility challenged passengers on this ship haven’t managed to let the sea air rejuvenate them, as has happened in the past. There really is a large contingent of those whose mobility is pretty awful but, as we have noticed, we have come across a lot of help and kindness from fellow passengers so I hope others have experienced this too.
  11. We weren’t there in the afternoon but the morning was fine. My overhearing was about the loungers under the canopies were busy, nothing about the whole deck busy and I know nothing about 'interlopers'. What I will say is I think deck 11 Grills area is lovely and having sat out, covered in towels to keep warm this morning, even in the dull, slight mizzel it’s still lovely and helped by the hot latte delivered from the lounge, eg, free 👍 with a smile by a member of staff. My 'not disappointed' is rapidly turning into 'getting quite pleased' with Our Annie! Still love Queen Victoria though 🙂
  12. Watched a film at the Pavilion pool last night. Not very well attended but then the subject might not have appealed to many. Thought it marvellous but then I’m a huge fan of Hans Zimmer and this was a film of a concert of his in Prague a few years ago. We could have done without the background staff noise and clatter but overall, an interesting evening.
  13. A misleading post. Sorry. Reference was for finding space in the shade under the canopies. Prime spots! The opposite of towel wars for loungers in the sun! 🙂 It’s a sea day today so that will the test of a busy deck.
  14. Lunch time sushi was prepared in the Grills galley as the sushi restaurant isn’t open at lunchtime.
  15. I love Q V. Full stop and QA is not QV but we are having a relaxing holiday. Can’t compare the two so I won’t until possibly a resume. The Queens Room is probably not going to be a ballroom dancer's delight but it’s getting a lot of use and seems very popular. I Can walk around the prom deck so that suits me. I’m not keen at all on the lobby but then, it’s a lobby and not a place we ever linger in. So far, we are definitely not displeased and will be keeping our future bookings intact.
  16. Our next door neighbours said the sun deck was very crowded this afternoon. If 'incomers' do become an issue, there is no way anyone can tell from the keycards who is Grills and who isn’t. Time to bring back the little Grills symbol?
  17. Also UK based. Our agent is the go between us and Cunard. He takes payment details but like IMniles, the payment goes directly to Cunard and not our agent.
  18. It's a lovely area with loads of space. I haven’t seen any men in black with hip bulges under their jackets. If passengers start complaining of 'incomers' the frosted glass doors which separate the areas, might be able to facilitate a card reader. Maybe. However, as there are loads of sun deck areas, it might not be an issue.
  19. We’re being treated, starboard, to a great water display from a tug. The tug actually pirouetted many times right in front of us. Any nearer and I’d be inviting the tug pilot in for a cup of tea. 🙂
  20. The ship has a busy feel but as we have spent day time hours on decks 10&11, it’s difficult to quantify 'how busy'. You won’t be disappointed with deck 11, and the hot tub situation ( can’t see the attraction myself) and yes, afternoon tea is served on deck.
  21. Went for a mooch around on the way to the library and can now concur re coloured chevrons. My aide-mémoire being blue fin for forward and red arrow for aft.
  22. The California Rolls this lunchtime were as good a sushi offering as any I’ve had in a pukka restaurant. No idea if they were prepared by the dedicated Sushi chef, or not. I will ask. The Peking Duck last night was a triumph, if a little too much for the two of us but we valiantly did it justice! 😀
