  1. I see you're from NY, so AC isn't far from you. If you have a high tier card at any of the local casinos (diamond+ at caesars, gold or above at MGM, etc), you can go to Oceans and tier match, which will give you a free cruise on MSC. I'm giving MSC a try this summer using this comp. In addition to free drinks in the casino, you won't be charged an admin fee, port fees, or taxes. I do also see the MSC cruises with the group you're referring, but I don't know the details of their comp
  2. not in the US. $1200 is absolutely the threshold That rule about the odds of hitting is for table games.
  3. I think you should be good this Saturday. I believe the charges are slated for April 1st.
  4. thanks for this info. so sad to hear about the drinks. did you happen to ask about the admin fee?
  5. so, I don't see Jade on the list, but I'm guessing it still exists. Or will you just be "nothing" until you reach 4000 points? I've never been anything but jade, and honestly I don't know if it came with any benefits at all. I never paid attention. Looking forward to hearing from those of you sailing after april 1st to see if the free drinks are indeed gone.
  6. I don't know what this is a picture of, but it's just one way to get a MSC comp, not the only way. This is not what I have. And you're not forced to use money on the ship if you really don't want to. You can use the OBC
  7. I am trying out MSC this summer because not only do they not have a admin fee, they also aren't charging for port fees and taxes for their casino comps. They have a form on their website to do a status match. Carnival also matches
  8. I will really miss the free drinks if they are indeed taken away. I would decline the FAS drinks because of the free drinks in the casino. Maybe we'll get luck and they will also get rid of the admin fee, so now taking the FAS drinks will be almost a wash
  9. yes, you can use two cruisenext vouchers, for $500 total. Or you can just buy a $500 cruisefirst when available (right now they are available). Of course, if you plan on cruising within the next 4 months, you can't use the cruisefirst. But you also can't double up on the cruisenext
  10. wow, it certainly looks like the drinks have been eliminated. I hope it's not for the land based casino comps also. I also decline the FAS drinks and just do the casino drinks and really enjoyed the included water and sodas
  11. nice to read that you don't actually have to dress up for gala night and that you can wear shorts
  12. then just don't put anything on your account if you don't plan on any expenses
  13. Is there a reason you won't switch passenger #3 to passenger #1 on the reservation? Or just make the reservation so that the two interested in dining are 1 and 2
  14. not sure why I'm quoted on this. it has nothing to do with me or my post
  15. yes, it would be great to see the admin fee go. I'm about to check out MSC, who not only don't have an admin fee but also don't even charge taxes and port fees. My free cruise with MSC will be about $500 cheaper than my free cruises with NCL
  16. know that the app is free. You only pay the $10 if you want them to be able to send messages. If you just want them to see the dailies, there is no cost.
  17. They are both used as a deposit for a future cruise. At the end of the day, you'd get the same benefit with both. I just wanted to point out that your TA is wrong about not being able to request a lower price. You absolutely can request the lower price.
  18. it's unlimited in the sense that you can have as many drinks as you want.
  19. no, this is not true. If it gets returned to your account, it will be for the full amount including the extra. In other words, if it's a $500 CF (that you paid $250 for), you get the full $500 cert back to your account.
  20. This is why I advise people to just not even think about the OBC given. It's monopoly money and makes no difference to your bill as long as it's things you're buying anyway. the problem is when folks think they have OBC to spend, so they go out and buy something they otherwise wouldn't because they think they are leaving OBC behind.
  21. looks like the FAQs has been updated and no longer has H2O has a valid smoking location on the joy https://www.ncl.com/ca/en/cruise-faq/smoking
  22. it's best to just ignore the OBC. You get charged $250 for a cruise next. They then "give" you $125 in OBC which makes the net cost of the cruise next $125. So the OBC just goes against the cert. The game they are playing is making you think you have OBC to spend and you go buy things thinking that.
  23. cruise next are pay $125 for $250, and this only if you buy 2 or more. If you just buy one, it's pay $150 for $250. the cruise first $250/$500 are not always offered. the default amount is pay $150 for $300. they do offer the $250/$500 pretty often though
  24. Cruise critic should consider banning macro files. Not saying that the file above is not legit, but I cringe seeing it.
