  1. I might be wrong or dreaming, didnt they run a trial drinks package on the Oceana

The survey is sent out to people via e mail, the recipients were selected at random

Going on Ventura in a couple of months and I hope we are selected.:D:D

  2. Apologies if people are offended - I suppose I just read the comment in relation to the number of elderly passengers who seem to love P&O. We noticed this on our last cruise and loved it for that reason ironically.

My 87 yr old dad always laughed about scooters and was desperate to own one........ it was a private family joke and am sure he would have chuckled too.

Yes, I understand why your dad had a laugh and it is also a joke in my family that to have a GT or even better a GTI scooter with the go faster stripes would be the bees knees..:):)

  3. This is not true. Oceana was ordered by P&O to serve in the Princess cruises fleet, entering service in 2000 as Ocean Princess and was transferred to the P&O fleet in 2002 so not really a hand me down. At that time P&O owned Princess cruises and the company then was P&O Princess Cruises.

Later, in 2003, P&O Princess merged with Carnival to form Carnival Corporation & PLC, a joint British and US company.

Afternoon tea in the restaurant is a very civilised affair and the only people that are running around are the waiters.

Can't comment on the last paragraph but paragraphs 1 & 2 are correct.

  4. depending on your age range and stamina i would probably say do the 3 hour trip the day before rome rather than both days at 9 hours. I agree

rome can be a very tiring/demanding day. I agree

however if you are not a regular cruiser and these ports are a one time only visit then just go for 9 hours both days and you can recuperate on the next sea day. like yourself.

  5. I have posted previously regarding the lengths that some insurers will go to in order to avoid paying out on legitimate claims.

From personal experience, my wife's claim for reimbursement of the cost of holiday due to cancellation on health grounds was declined due to an "UNDIAGNOSED" pre-existing condition. So now we need crystal balls to consult before opting for insurance cover?

As many have said, choosing the correct policy should be an absolute pre-requisite.

    Excellent post.

  6. IF MY MEMORY SERVE,S ME WELL I CAN REMEMBER SERVING ON CRUISE SHIP RML ANDES IN THE CARIBBEAN WE HAD TWO DEATH,S AT SEA THE SHIP WOULD STOP I THINK IT WAS A SUNDAY, AND YOU COULD HEAR THE PLOP  I WAS TOLD IT WAS DONE PROPERLY IE PLUGED AND WEIGHTED  AS THE SHIP DID NOT HAVE THE FACILITY,S TO KEEP THE PERSON,S IN THE FREEZER BACK TO THE UK. GETTING OF THIS SUBJECT THE OCEANA LOOK,S NICE WITH HER BLUE STACK AND HER UNION FLAG ON THE BOW,S . MORE PROBLEM,S WITH BOUDICCA TELL YOU LATER, IE NO HEATING ON THE SHIP.

Thanks for the information and caps lock doesn't bother me.

BTW thanks also for the valuable info on Dock Gate 4 a couple of months ago.

  7. Another vote for the Dolphin. Ask for a room in the stable block, its a bit away from the main hotel. Breakfast is fabulous! If you do book this, you need to put "Back of the walls road" into your satnav and not the postcode. The postcode takes you to the front of the hotel, not the back where the entrance is.

Good advice I also use the intersection of BotWS and Canal Walk which is the entrance to the Dolphin Car Park.
