  1. No need to wait. Head to check in when you get there. No one ever asks your assigned check in time. You paid for day 1, not just the afternoon. Get there in time to enjoy lunch and learn your way around the ship before the sail away.
  2. We get 8 to 10 cans and bottles each evening unopened. We carry a little Eddie Bauer bag that will fit in a pocket.
  3. What ship? Definately runners on ships we have been sailing.
  4. And dodging the chairs which people have pulled into the walk way.
  5. Just tell your cabin attendant when you first meet on the ship. Together is the default but he can separate in minutes, giving you a much larger walk way. In fact, we take a pre-printed list with all of our wishes like, ice daily, evening cabin make up, remove heavy comforters and repace with light blanket, etc.
  6. Spot on. We cruised 5 days on Virgin then 4 on Royal this past week. We went from one ship to the other on the 22nd so easy to compare. VV has no tipping but had the friendliest, best trained, enabled staff of any of our nearly 50 RCL cruises. Just for being nice and engaging with staff they give you stuff and invite you to special functions. No one has to "go ask a manager." So refreshing! At VV everything is included: wifi, tips, speciality dining, still and sparkling water, soft drinks, coffee, tips and a $300 bar tab. When we compared the daily rates on each cruise, Virgin was less by $48/day. Better is not always more!
  7. Just like any job, staff gets used to the ship and feel comfortable with their friends and surroundings. They have proven their worth to their supervisors and can make special requests. This causes a higher retention rate on certain ships... some staff never changing ships for 15 to 20 years or more.
  8. IMHO, small/midsize ships have very experienced, friendly crews. The big ship staff see so many people that it's more difficult to get personal service... unless you do a TA or b2b2b. But all ships are constantly training and changing staff due to contract lenghts.
  9. Some departure days it seems like 5,000 at 7.30. The process is fast and efficient until someone pulling wardrobe sized suitcases tries to go down the escalator.
  10. Interpret, inferring, encourage to not tip. Stop. The poor simply correctly thought the increased tips are getting to a lot! Who are you to tell him not to cruise then? Just do what you do.
  11. You need to go back and read the posts. Totally misinterpreted what that person said.
  12. 'Can be' - how? 'Terminated" - really? Terminated, Terminated or employment terminated? You obviously do not tip cash on cruises. Watch and learn.
  13. That's a lot of "understanding." Cash can't be tracked. Period.
  14. Never has anyone asked scheduled time. 8 cruises this year. Departure ports from Barcelona to Boston to Florida. Go when you want.
  15. Best deal this cruise on Liberty ending today was pre-purchase Giovanni’s lunch at $16.99. Full menu and others were paying big bucks for the taste of royal and, as we finished our late lunch, others were coming in for the $99 Christmas dinner. Score!
  16. No luck here. Maybe bidding on every cabin type isn't a good idea?
