  1. If others do not concern themselves with shorts, tshirts and ballcaps, then neither should you complain about those who prefer to dress up on formal nights. I am not one who does, but families like to dress up for formal night photos and many older folks still dress up. Their choices are not for you to make fun of or concern yourself with. You do you and let them be them. Enjoy your cruise.
  2. I wish the MDR had Applebee's menu. It's more like the Indian restaurant in your local strip mall which has added a bunch of dishes to the menu in an attempt to please everyone but does non of it well.
  3. But they will not say with whom they set it up. My guess is that you will find that all MDRs are closed to guests when not serving meals. Some ships have an adjacent smaller dining room that can be used as a conference room. You might have some luck inquiring about playing cards there. Better choices have been suggested: Viking Lounge, any bar that isn't packed, cafe promenade, etc.
  4. The info might help others win a similar RU, is my guess. I know that I would appreciate the info.
  5. You'll pay a lot more than you can earn on the the deposit dollars if you wait to book. Reports are 3 x more later.
  6. Excellent. My wife won't let me look at more cruises till next year. (Like that would stop me.) Perfect timing.
  7. If the ship left the port later than scheduled, it left late. (In most ports the cruise line pays a penalty for that.) My point in asking is that something else was probably happening that caused the ship to wait 2.5 hours. Usually that would not happen, IMHO.
  8. Waited for you or were late leaving due to other circumstances? There is a difference.
  9. This is CC. Secrets no longer exist. Everyone is excited to come and post their secrets after every cruise. And some who have never cruised tell their secrets too!
  10. I used to buy other people's photos. They were always better than mine.
  11. Dinner is often quiet and comfortable when we go. Maybe the timing or the ships.
  12. Yes. Then we had all those fun discussions about how much of it the server actually received. Those were fun times. 😀
  13. Is $6,000 less than Star prices? That was my point. But I'm with you on trying other lines. We really enjoyed MSC and leave next week on a VV. But we also have 11 weeks booked on Royal through Jan 2026. Book when the cruise opens and with a TA who offers group rates. Enjoy your cruise... no matter where you book.
  14. You are obviously used to a much different experience. Good for you, but minimizing another's choice doesn't seem fair. Cabins for 4 with pullman beds are offered for a reason. Some people would never put their children in a separate cabin. Different strokes...
  15. And all these folks booking in the hopes of the price going down sure are not helping the situation. If no one booked at those crazy rates what would happen?
  16. There are plenty of newer large ships to book w/ Royal that are less.
  17. If you use on night one, most ships will allow you to use 2nd night when you want.
  18. Haven't cruise Disney in a while but my guess is that their prices are up also. A better comparison is MSC. Beautiful new ships, classic menus in MDR, ask for pasta with your steak... no problem, 2 x day cabin service. The only thing we missed were our 5 free D+ drinks, most of which we use for water.
