  1. The Dover Sole in Toscana has always been our favorite.
  2. For lunch always open: Terrace Cafe, The GDR, Waves Grill and Aquamar. I understand Red Ginger may be open for lunch too but not sure if that’s only on At Sea days. For some the new bakery next to Baristas May be enough. Seems like some of the menu Ember items seem suitable for lunch.
  3. Pretty sure the closet is to the right of the bathroom door, Two closet doors there.
  4. We will be on Vista in May and look forward to any improvements - food, cabins, drinks and shows, Expect all of these to be improved. However, as in our past 250 nights on Oceania we've only gone to maybe 5 shows, what we would most appreciate is an earlier show time. Particularly on At Sea days. If you haven't guessed, we go to bed early.
  5. The only time we took Oceania’s booked flight was back from Santiago. Our lie flat seats were angled flat seats. Kate is small and was OK. I kept sliding down the seat. That was before my iPhone was able to download and show my choice of movies so had nothing to do except try to fight gravity
  6. The foremost question is whether you get there before the cruise departure. Secondary is how you feel that first day. what we do (we’re retired). Book cruise very early up to 2 years in advance. Figure out what flies you there best. Then we accumulate points/miles and grab our reward flights when they first are available, usually 11 months early. If you can do that and require (very bad back) lie flat seats, avoiding the cost of the flights may approach the cost of the cruise.
  7. It matters not which airport you are or are not going through. ALWAYS arrive at least a day early. Even if the departure port isn't the best, there is probably a better city nearby worth a visit. If in Europe, fly into a major airport like Milan or Frankfurt; stay a day or two; then take the train to your embarkation port. Weather and flights aren't reliable. Or predictable. Or tale Oceania's air (more on that in many other forums) and leave the burden up to them.
  8. Didn’t mean to imply that Riviera recently added the larger thalassotherapy spa pool, just that what’s on the Marina is not up to snuff for Oceania’s larger ships.
  9. On the Marina recently. Only two spa hot tubs. Assume that when it goes through its "refresh" they will upgrade it to be similar to the Riviera. Have you seen how Oceania has upgraded the Riviera's to the new one on the Vista? It is pretty amazing.
  10. Am hoping this is truly just a Sample (of the) Menu. The other 3 specialty restaurants menus are online in full. So too is Waves Grill’s menu. Will post a short revue and IPhone camera picture of Ember’s after we dine on May 20th. Hopefully some CC cruisers from the preceding Founders Cruise will already have taken care of this! Also would like to see the menu for the new Aquamar Kitchen’s breakfast and lunch offerings.
  11. I think that must be dependent upon the weather. We were on the Marina a few years ago and did the Chilean fjords, They were absolutely beautiful The ship was able to go inland to visit a spectacular glacier. However, visiting Catholic Puerto Chacabuco on Christmas Day was rather non-productive!
  12. Yes and what a 3 days: the Arva at the Aman Hotel once, the Club del Doge at the Gritti Palace twice. Plus everything else ….. bringing some bigger belts. will post about Embers.
  13. We reserved it for the first day (May 20th) of the cruise. We will have been staying and eating for 3 days in Venice and then traveling to and then exploring Vista. So we thought that this might be nice to try then. Have the others we are so familiar with later in the cruise. So much to eat. So little time!
  14. Here is a copy of the Sample Embers Menu ember-dinner-menu.pdf
  15. For our cruise starting on Vista on May 20th, we just made our 4 specialty dining reservations. They popped up online at midnight EST, 75 days before the cruise. Earliest available on any night was at 6:30 although on one CC forum someone said they got 6:00 time slots. Going to try Ember our first night.
  16. Book your own flights and Oceania will give you a reduction in the cruise fare. Maybe 500 to 1,000 per pax depending on where but you get total control. Arrive at least a day early and stay at least a day at the end, then getting to the airport early opens up flights for you, particularly west to east. There are usually things to do and see in the first and last ports where O will not have optional excursions.
  17. We love HS! A few miss the mark but quirky but good is the norm. Great addition to O's offerings.
  18. let us know if the menus for Ember appear online. also any revisions to Polo - they say it's being "enhanced".
  19. The Dover Sole is better in Toscana.
  20. I'd be happier as a segmented on the larger ship. Have been unwilling to be one on the smaller Insignia.
  21. I love the R ships. but the cabins, closets and bathrooms are smaller. For a few weeks that's trumped by their wonderful design. But over 180 days greater space, dining and other activities might attract a larger enrollment. Also, the voyage could be broken into multiple "Grand Voyages" which also might attract more.
  22. Would love to see an O Class sized ship on an Around the World itinerary!
  23. We will be looking forward to our 20th cruise in 2025. By then will have 4 Vista cruises done. Looking forward to trying the Allura then!
  24. A picture of the AC plugs and USB ports would be appreciated thank you
