  1. Morning all, my busy day yesterday meant I slept much better, unfortunately John’s alarm was a rude awakening at 4.30am! If he’s awake he’ll turn it off but he was fast asleep today. I’ve been dozing since then.

Yesterday was lovely, today it’s rainy again! At the outlet centre I was very pleased to get a new dress for my cruise and took this picture below.

Had a fun filled evening with my friends last night.

It was offered almost right up to sailing on our personaliser, but I didn't see if it was offered on board.

The queue at Brodies on the first day to sign up for it was huge, so might be worth booking before.

Just a note on the drinks package, I don't think any of the 7 of us who have travelled would have got any value from it, and we seem to be drinking loads.

Most beers around a fiver and most cocktails £7.50, a bottle of the wine we like is £25, so buying as you go has given us the flexibility we like.

    Andy

We don’t drink less than we want but never find the package good value for us!

CPS was half the problem with our Aurora cruise. We were held in a holding queue for half an hour whilst later arrivals, many probably without priority boarding, were waived through to the drop off lanes before us (as the holding lanes were full).

We are on Queen Anne in a few weeks and are trying Parking4Cruises again, as we found them much quicker previously.

    Interesting Selbourne.

    Hope you enjoy Queen Anne!

  4. We boarded Aurora on the Thursday before Easter. I was very pleased to get a 12-45 embarkation time. Don’t know how we managed it but we pulled up at CPS bang on 12-45, they actually took quite a while to get to us which surprised me as normally it’s so quick. We didn’t walk up to the terminal door til about 1-15 - the queue outside was quite long but I said to hubby don’t worry they should let us on.

We were just going in after showing them our boarding time and I heard a man call out ‘anyone with 2pm or before you can now go in!’

I was glad we didn’t arrive later, there were hoards of people waiting outside!

  5. Morning all, unlike Lincslady I had a rotten night! My mind wouldn’t stop so I didn’t fall asleep until gone 2am 😖

Busy day here though, luckily I’m working from home today. It’s John’s day off today so as soon as I finish at 1pm we’re nipping to an outlet centre for a quick lunch and hopefully cruise clothes shopping! Then off to visit my mum THEN I’m eating out at 6pm with my old Bank friends, 5 years ago today we were made redundant!

Re Queen Ann , there is an event today for vloggers and they’re staying overnight so there should be lots of videos out soon!

Queen Anne is apparently (I looked it up I'm not a ship nerd!!) a Pinnacle class ship only Holland America has the 2 other ships of the class so far.

I like the look of it, I always think that the colour scheme of Cunard ships is more attractive and traditional than some other cruise lines.

It does look like a Holland America ship!

  7. Afternoon all, stop press we actually have some sunshine! I’ve been fed up of the non stop rain. Been making calls this morning to do with Mum’s admin! For example her council tax reduced to single person amount then we had two months ‘free’ now the direct Debits have started up again they’ve charged her the higher amount again 😡 It’s never ending …

  8. Evening all, sooo much to catch up on!

I hope @zap99 is enjoying his cruise, looking forward to hearing how you get on.

At my mum’s Home on Friday they ‘went to Turkey!’ The two people who do the activities were dressed as air hostesses and they had Turkish food and belly dancers performed for them! They do some good things.

Our grandson lost his first tooth yesterday! We were sent a photo - he looked so pleased with himself! 😁

Yes its the 14th for us too!

Do you know if he is any good and how did you know that!

I’m on a page on a popular social media site and a couple of weeks ago someone posted the restaurants were available to book! I booked one and then saw everyone complaining they couldn’t book- the P&O site had crashed with everyone booking! We got an email saying if you got the confirmation email (which I did) it was ok.
Anyway I could see the Limelight and it was Kevin Simm  but couldn’t decide whether to book it or not. I didn’t know his name but recognised his photo. He used to sing with Liberty X and now with Wet Wet Wet. Lots of people said they enjoyed his show.

We wondered if the cruise itinerary and cabin choice didn't help .. and the weather ...so we have thought of giving her another go some time.

You should try Ventura again. Our first cruise was on Azura, our second on Ventura. If was freezing on our late April cruise to Norway and everyone sat in the bars for sailaways and took up all the window seats! I didn’t love it as much as Azura. Since I’ve been on two more on Ventura (in warm weather) and love her again! Best Glasshouse.

Thank you for that, I hadn't spotted the Feb half term one. Our daughter's October half term falls between the 2 October Rotterdam cruises but the Feb one would work. OH has said he wants to do May half Term '26 on Ventura which goes to La Rochelle, Santander, Gijon & La Coruna, but I might be able to persuade him to do both 😁

Ooh our June cruise goes to 3 of those ports, I’ll keep you posted! ☺️

Just a note on the food. Most of it has been quite good, especially breakfast and lunch.

The evening meals have been OK, some good, some not so.

I listened to all these people who kindly reminded us that us meat eaters can eat vegan food, I wasn't aware😂

I tried Marcos Leek & Potato presse, it was absolutely rank, almost inedible.

It was just layers of leek, served with a side of red onion!!!

It was overcooked and difficult to cut, let alone eat...

Our GF vegetarian companion has been very well looked after with plenty of choice, both in the MDR and buffet, although some of the meals have been hit and miss.

We have given up on the desserts, they are either tasteless, too dry or both.

I have been sticking to the ice cream.

All in all though, the food offering has been more than adequate.

Ray Quinn in the Limelight tonight, so looking forward to that.

I hope you are all well?

    Andy

Hi Andy, glad  you’re enjoying yourselves. We saw Ray Quinn on Britannia, hope you enjoy it as much as we did, he puts on a good show.

Not an ECG in the usual sense - an echocardiogram, which I know some of you will have had.  I  I had a 24 hour ECG a few months ago ,which did show up all sorts of things, mostly not important, but they were concerned about atrial fibrillation, which many of us have , and that is being treated with the usual medication.  The echo test is more complicated, a bit like a baby scan I believe and takes longer and needs more special equipment. (I know many of you already know this).  It  is all a bit confusing when you have been lucky enough not to have heart problems.

Yes echocardiogram, that’s the one I meant. Hope you can get it sooner.

Thank you all, that’s really helpful info.

Although the cruise says it’s in the school holidays, and it is for Medway where we live, it appears it probably won’t be school holidays for the rest of Kent & my daughter will still be at work so I will have the 2 grandchildren 🥴

We will definitely do a Rotterdam cruise & visit The Hauge at some point but not just yet.

    Back to choosing another itinerary…

That’s a shame, I’ve noticed they’re doing this itinerary more now, eg in Feb 2 weeks running so only one would be half term for you. They’re also doing it in early November!

I'd consider that good news LL. If they were really concered, I would have thought you'd have had an appointment within a couple of days.

I’m sure there’s a ‘basic’ ECG and a more involved one. We book the basic ones where I work in a couple of weeks but the more involved ones are a hospital job and are a longer wait.

  16. Morning all, so much to catch up on so I’ll just say hope all are well.

My mum had a fall at her Home on Friday and had two cuts on her face, the home called an ambulance, phoned me and said she’d phone again when they’d been. We decided after not hearing anything to just go up there . She was fine in herself, bit fed up of the fuss! I’m really glad we were there because when the three(!) paramedics arrived they were quite happy to not take her to hospital whereas the nurse at the home seemed to want her taken in. It was now about 4.30pm on a Friday, we really didn’t think anything would have been gained by taking her in and having a long wait in A&E.

I said as her family we supported the decision to not take her in. She had too small dressings on her face, her BP was fine. She didn’t even have a headache! Anyway off the paramedics went and so did we a bit later.

Went to see her yesterday and she’s got a lovely black eye! Still laughing and joking with the carers. She’s a tough old bird!

John and I both have the day off today, fed up with this miserable dull weather so it looks like a day of chores and sorting out some of mum’s admin. Have a good day all.

We are just off Aurora and passports were checked at La Rochelle on the way back onto the ship. It caught out several people in the queue.

Some French ports have been doing this for a while now.

They did that to us  in La Rochelle on our very first cruise in 2012! It was the only port we were asked to show them.

Hello. My cruise personaliser is saying that the Epicurean can be booked 120 days before the cruise. Is this correct? I was always under the impression that 3 weeks prior was the case

    many thanks, kev

Definitely wasn’t 120 days but yesterday mine was able to book and we were at 60 days yesterday. I had looked a couple of days before but nothing was available..
