  1. Loving your adventure so far EllieJay. Looking forward to reading more.
  2. Re the no mid ship stairs, we normally go forward then we’re ok, I’m generally fine with the movement. On my last Britannia cruise (a short one) we were mid aft so that was a bit of a pain as they’d blocked the aft corridor off for confinement cabins! In June I’m back to forward on E deck but quite close to mid-fwd so fingers crossed it will be as good as in 2017!
  3. I bet it is! This was arranged by his TA and seems there’s several of them being bussed in!
  4. Since 2020 I haven’t found the deals so good. Add on the dollars onboard as well. I was looking at one that went to Malaga and I wanted the excursion to the Alhambra- nearly 300 dollars each!
  5. Have a great cruise John. We went on one Princess cruise in 2019. At the time it took me a while to ‘get into it’ and I wished I hadn’t pre paid for the soft drinks package as it was difficult to find anything about it onboard. Alfredo’s was good but now is not included in the fare which is a shame. The weather wasn’t great so it was often hard to find a good seat inside. We only had an inside cabin but I think if we’d had a balcony we would have enjoyed it more. I often look at Princess cruises but find they are so expensive. I was impressed with the champagne fountain on the formal night although I did think ‘what a waste if champagne!’ Also all the balloons coming down from the ceiling but, again, thought of the waste when they were all popped on the floor! This was Sapphire Princess.
  6. Morning all, thanks again for all your good wishes. The power of cruise critic I think - I’m much better today at last! The sun is shining, I’ve got two loads of washing out and I’ve been sitting in the garden. Just come in now to cool down before my afternoon shift. Here’s a funny thing - well I’ve never heard it before. John’s work mate is going on his first ever cruise soon on Iona. It was arranged by a TA. Anyway, he has to park at Southampton airport and then they’ve put on a bus to take them to the port! Anyone heard of that before?
  7. Thanks all, I’m really surprised how long it’s lasted, it’s knocked me for six! I fell asleep about 3 times yesterday!
  8. Evening all, my weekend went downhill after Saturday. From Sunday onwards I’ve had a horrible stomach bug, goodness knows where I got that from, John is ok 🤷‍♀️ I was so looking forward to the long weekend but I’ve done nothing except sleep and read. Back to work today but I worked from home cos I’m still not right. Sadly couldn’t visit mum today because I didn’t want to risk passing it onto her. They had a VE Day thing there and we were hoping to catch the end of it which was a singer. Mum enjoyed it anyway.
  9. I had Captain Camby as my first captain, I’ll never forget his last night ‘speech’ he was thanking his crew for all their hard work - I was nearly in tears but then I was just loving everything and didn’t want to get off! Captains recently haven’t had much of an impression on me but I was pleased to have Camby again and Paul Brown and Neil Turnbull stood out too.
  10. The sun’s gone in again here! I actually feel quite cold!
  11. Glad you had a great time Andy, I can’t wait for my Britannia cruise. Disappointing to hear about the entertainment, the silent disco would be better in the Crystal Room surely. We had it in the Tamarind on Ventura. I honestly think we had more varied entertainment on Aurora recently. We had a jazz orchestra in the Crows Nest one evening who were good. Also an outside group ‘The Celtic Harps’ as well as a couple of sets by Pulse and that was a four night cruise! I’ve never had time for a film on Britannia before, perhaps I’ll get the chance this time!
  12. I’ve been on 11 cruises now and never had the food offered by the pool!
  13. Morning all, had a busy day yesterday, had my grandson over in the morning ( my son text me the day before could I have him, of course I say - what time- 8am!!) Had a lovely time with him, he has a bit of a lisp now he’s lost a tooth 😁 Then I went to a surprise 30th birthday for my friend’s daughter in a local social club held at lunchtime. John joined us for the last hour after he finished work, plenty of food was left for him! There was also money behind the bar but he was happy with the coffee urn! Then we flew in for a brief-ish visit to mum! Phew! Looks the best day of the weekend today but John is working again. I’ll watch the Liverpool match later. John has tomorrow off but typically the weather doesn’t look too good. Have a good day all, one day we might get a day out!
  14. I used the same photo for my 2022 and 2023 cruises as it took ages to get right and it was accepted both times. I used it again this year and she took a new photo of me this time! 🤷‍♀️
  15. But in that Jamie one he says ‘is this the worse cabin at sea’ but if you watch it he loved it.
  16. Morning all, my busy day yesterday meant I slept much better, unfortunately John’s alarm was a rude awakening at 4.30am! If he’s awake he’ll turn it off but he was fast asleep today. I’ve been dozing since then. Yesterday was lovely, today it’s rainy again! At the outlet centre I was very pleased to get a new dress for my cruise and took this picture below. Had a fun filled evening with my friends last night.
  17. We don’t drink less than we want but never find the package good value for us!
  18. Interesting Selbourne. Hope you enjoy Queen Anne!
  19. We boarded Aurora on the Thursday before Easter. I was very pleased to get a 12-45 embarkation time. Don’t know how we managed it but we pulled up at CPS bang on 12-45, they actually took quite a while to get to us which surprised me as normally it’s so quick. We didn’t walk up to the terminal door til about 1-15 - the queue outside was quite long but I said to hubby don’t worry they should let us on. We were just going in after showing them our boarding time and I heard a man call out ‘anyone with 2pm or before you can now go in!’ I was glad we didn’t arrive later, there were hoards of people waiting outside!
  20. Morning all, unlike Lincslady I had a rotten night! My mind wouldn’t stop so I didn’t fall asleep until gone 2am 😖 Busy day here though, luckily I’m working from home today. It’s John’s day off today so as soon as I finish at 1pm we’re nipping to an outlet centre for a quick lunch and hopefully cruise clothes shopping! Then off to visit my mum THEN I’m eating out at 6pm with my old Bank friends, 5 years ago today we were made redundant! Re Queen Ann , there is an event today for vloggers and they’re staying overnight so there should be lots of videos out soon!
