  1. I personally ok with Celebrity match. I liked Captains club breakfast in Tuscan Grill with mimosas, bloody Marie’s etc. However Celebrity often has nice packages. In 2021 on Edge for only $200 pp we had a package of Wi-Fi, classic beverages and gratuities.
  2. If you wear crocs to MDR then it’s not me, but you making yourself looking bad. If you are experiencing joy when people feel uncomfortable next to you then I feel for you. Talk to healthcare professionals.
  3. Bummer is that some people don’t understand simple rules of coexistence. Maybe they live in the woods and just come out for cruises? Who knows.
  4. LOL. Now is this a dumb suggestion? I’m not rich by any means. However I know what is appropriate in various situations, I may travel in inside room, but I always adhere to what is appropriate for particular places or situation. If I cruise with Cunard I will wear formal clothes. On Celebrity it will be less formal, but still more than on Royal. Royal is more casual, but there is a minimum that is appropriate for MDR or even WJ. I’m sure even person from trailer park can afford simple pants and shoes other than crocs if he/she is treating itself for a cruise. And of course I’m wrong mentioning trailer park. Money don’t always buy taste. So maybe people attending MDR in torn jeans or crocs aren’t poor.. just tasteless. 😉
  5. Unusual experience? Why? We had two cruises since menu change. Enchantment and Liberty. We were satisfied with menus in MDR and mostly in WJ. Before I’m told I have nothing to compare … this was our #27 cruise with Royal. #11 after restart. We cruise with RCI since 2004. Most cruises happened starting from 2016 (only 5 prior… and we were not fans of Royal food back then in comparison to other lines)
  6. I has some nice salmon dishes from new menu. They are basically variations of salmon from previous classic menu. Quality vary as it varied before.
  7. Think of it this way… when you chose neighborhood to live or resort to spend your vacation does it matter for you who are your neighbors? Do you want to live in trailer park? You can have a nice house, but around you will be that. I guess numbers matter. Several people won’t cannot spoil your vacation… but if you particularly sit right next to a person with hairy legs in crocs … person in baseball hat in MDR even one person will matter.
  8. Honestly … if coffee had quality that most Europeans drink… we wouldn’t need all additional things and flavorings. Even coffee made in fancy machines on ships is hmmm… not a very good coffee. Coffee made in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cezve which is widely popular in Europe is to die for.
  9. We used to cruise with Princess and HAL, and Celebrity more. Prior to 2016 we only cruised 5 times with RCI… we were still exploring. But now we cruise multiple times a year and prefer to avoid flying. So it’s mostly from Northeast. Royal offers the best combination of ships and we are Diamond Plus. We are staying 🙂 I also fell in love with Boleros. Since restart we sailed once on Celebrity Edge since it was the first ship sailing out of US in 2021! Other 11 were with Royal. We will probably sail with Celebrity occasionally from Bayonne or Boston.
  10. Interesting is that I even added comment about picture attaching incorrectly (probably forum’s bug) and yet…
  11. I wouldn’t say so. At least on cruises we go. Carnival yes, NCL is much closer. Not sure about “anything goes”. At least not publicly. Again, I have limited experience cruising from Florida now and never cruised from Texas, so cannot say about it. On cruises (especially 7 days and longer) from Boston, Bayonne and Baltimore most things are fine.
  12. We also always use tables for two. Always. However I’m sure you couldn’t miss how close tables are placed in MDR. Maybe you generally don’t notice things.. even hairy legs belonging to a stranger in crocs right next to you. Good for you I guess. 🙂
  13. And this is cool.. You appreciate hairy legs in crocs contest next to you enjoy 🙂 . I proposed something that’s not difficult to achieve. Simple pants/jeans will do. When you say you don’t need to look at other people legs in a situations like this those legs can be much closer to you than you think. This is Liberty 3rd floor. (In some reason picture is attaching upside down, but it is clear how close tables are)
  14. I can go on any lines, and that’s what I do. In 20 years 58 cruises were with 8 lines. Lately almost inclusively with RCI. As a devoted cruiser to RCI (with 29 by the end of this year) I propose a separate dining room or a floor depending on RCI ship (Quantum class ships for the most part have 4 rooms) for people who don’t own any pants or jeans. 🙂
  15. Who doesn’t appreciate? RCI? I’m sure RCI knows what line they are. Luxuriousness of cruise line also has nothing to do with formal nights. 🙂 Luxury lines mostly use country club dress code. Formal or near formal line is Cunard… which for the most part is not a luxury line. But they do require tux/suits during formal nights and sport coats/nice dresses after 6 pm nightly on regular nights. RCI did not have ANYTHING like this for 20 years we cruised with them. What they have is dress your best at best. 🙂 Regular pants/jeans have nothing to do with formal clothes.
  16. Why? And this is why Royal Caribbean crew isn’t doing it too. Who wants confrontation? I am thinking that NCL which I like way less than RCI does this better. They have smaller MDR where people who don’t wish to wear pants dine. However they don’t allow people in shorts in large MDR. Everyone is happy. 🙂
  17. Are you twisting words on purpose? Nobody asks to wear what people were wearing in 1970. If you don’t remember what people were wearing in Love Boat I suggest rewatching it. If you are too lazy I will remind you. They wore formal clothes to MDR in that. Not torn jeans or regular pants (slacks) have nothing to do with formal or even business casual dress code.
  18. This is a clear exaggeration. In a reality most people have good understanding which clothes are appropriate for which venue. Nobody is demanding very strict standards at that. Not in this topic anyway
  19. What? 1923? We are talking about regular casual pants including not torn jeans, not tuxedo or suit parts. In 2023 people still wear pants.
  20. It is not Cunard so there is no mandatory evening dress code in all venues. I get that. What I do not get is on the ship with various venues from buffet and pizzeria, Cafe Promenade etc to MDR if people do not want to put even minimal dress code why do they need to go to MDR? They have plenty venues where it is completely fine to be in shorts and any type of shoes. It is not like it is MDR or being hungry.
  21. Well, we usually do 3-5 ships a year 5 cruises. This year it is 3 ships Anthem January 11 days Southern Caribbeans, Enchantment - 12 days Southern Caribbeans, Liberty - 5 days Bermuda, Liberty - 9 days Canada/NE, Anthem 7 days Bahamas Last year it was 4 ships - Anthem (9 days Caribbeans) - Enchantment (12 days Southern Caribbeans) - Oasis (7 days Bahamas) - Adventure (9 days Canada/NE) - Anthem (7 days Bahamas)
  22. Last one was at the end of May 2023 (Liberty). Anthem was in January, Enchantment in March. We do cruise a lot. We hit 140 points in Nov 2021 and will have 280 in Nov 2023.
  23. Well, Royal doesn’t stop people, yes. Royalьс's approach is pretty much non-confrontational. So at times you see people like that. It’s a formal night in MDR btw. But I’d rather call it an exception. Shorts especially during Formal/Dress your best nights are too.
  24. This is a polite suggestion, yes. Most will get it. If person does not agree you can put SHORTS ARE NOT PERMITTED in large bold letters and there will still be a discussion about this.
