Icon of the Seas Blocks Are In The House!
Tall-Cruiser replied to Lloyd555's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There was a stern block that was shared a while back that already had parts of the ship name on it. I wonder if they removed it as it’s not currently visible on those installed stern blocks. -

Many of us joined the various “….Blocks are in the House” thread because we are genuinely interested in the cruise ship building process. With the photos that are shared here starting with Lloyd then Panda Monium, Tough as Leather, Jean and others, we are thankful for their sharing. We look at those photos and try to guess, speculate and wish for some things we would like to see on a ship all in the spirit of fun here. I for one enjoy the ship building process and appreciate what Lloyd and others contribute. Thank you! Let’s continue on that path. -

That would be nice 😀. I realize Quantum is a complete different class of ship for Royal but, sometimes I think having a Viking Crown lounge may have looked good right above say Social 180 Patio on Odyssey. -

Based on Michael Bailey’s comments and all the secrets behind this build let’s hope it’s truly “revolutionary”. Can’t imagine using a name such as “Icon” and not do something revolutionary and radical. It’s got to be a good looking ship though😀. @Nathan Graveson what say you since you’ve seen some renderings? 😀 -

Thank you for sharing these photos. Do you, @Lloyd555 and others here have any guesses what decks these could possibly be? The top one looks to be a balcony level. Perhaps 7 or 8? -

That makes sense. I thought if near the bow it might be one of those slanted looking top section like these below. -

Trying to figure where these would go. Towards the Bow? Are those windows in the bottom row? Thanks -

This is an interesting article on Norwegian Prima. Many of us here have said there are certain things we like about Prima and MSC World Europa. Indeed they have some very cool things. https://www.seatrade-cruise.com/shipbuilding-refurb-equipment/genius-behind-norwegian-primas-naval-architecture -

There was something that was covered in white further behind the building dock that has recently disappeared from there. Could that be it, or is that too small? Similar to the Bridge, there are lots of pieces and things we never see being delivered but are in the yard somewhere hidden then appear 😀 -

Nothing so far other than the mention of the “Pearl” by Micheal Bailey. As to why they are being so secretive, most people are asking the same question. NCL has put out info on Prima long time ago and so has MSC with its new build, MSC World Europa. And I think both have been open for booking for some time now. -

I noticed in these photos you shared that there is another section with that thick white framing. Should be lined up nicely now that the block is in place. Not sure how far it goes to the other side. Need to go back and look at the Port side photos again. -

I think you are right, it will be close. It’s hard to really tell looking at various photos how much space there is between the stern and the wall, and looking up front, the bow to that wall. -

Wow seriously! No disputing now which is longer, Icon Class vs Oasis Class. -

Not sure if it’s for the AquaDome or Solarium, but there are pieces in the Shipyard that have triangular sections that look like the Canada (British Columbia) Bloedel Conservatory dome. -

I was there in March and at that time there were NO Beach Beds for South Beach to rent as they were taken out. We were told the area that use to have them was being “renovated” for Crew only. That may have changed since then. See attached photos. The ones with the Cabanas are South Beach and you can see there are no Beach Beds at the end. The other photo with the ships in it with Beach Beds at the end is Chill Island. Then there is Chill Grill that has the best selection of food that is close by.

@Lloyd555 @Eremita85 Looking at the recent photos you guys added to the FB group, Icon definitely took up just about the entire length of the building dock. I think Lloyd mentioned there somewhere that she will be 365m. Also great photos by the way and thanks. -

Wouldn’t that require a wider space and with the added seating? I think the Ice Skaters in general would prefer a round rink as it would appear easier for all those turns they make. I’m not an Ice Skater but just a thought 😀 -

It’s possible but I think the Azipods would be further back. -

It’s unbelievable that they want to wait that long before revealing the info. With the way the build has been going it will reveal itself and thanks to photo updates from you, Panda Monium, Tough As Leather and Eremita85/Jean here and on FB. -

This made me go searching for some old pictures I took of our balcony on MSC Seaside, suite 11003. Let’s hope it’s not this bad. -
