New York hotel help

Hi:

We live in Canada and when we go to New York City, we always book The Travel Inn. Very reasonable for New York and has free parking as well. It is on 42nd street between 10th & 11th Avenue on the north side of the street.

Very convenient. Not far from the port. You could walk it unless you have a lot of luggage.

They have a 1-800 number. I used to book them through a web site but then decided to call them direct and guess what - it was cheaper!

Good Luck.

Priceline is really the way to go in NYC, but expect a smaller hotel room than you've stayed in before and expect to pay more for it... just the way NYC is at all star levels.

You should be able to get a great deal for May, but without your actual dates i can't be any more specific than that.

We just returned from a cruise on the Constellation and did a two day pre-cruise in NYC. It turned out to be a one day pre-cruise because on 9/18 the remnants of the hurricane hit NY and we sat 10 hours at Detroit Metro waiting for LaGuardia to accept flights. This to was our first visit to NY and we looked into all the reasonable hotels we could find. We finally found the Super 8 Hotel on 46th between 5th and 6th. It is a block and a half from Times Square. It was delightful. It is not the Hilton or the Waldof but for $139 a night was reasonable by NY standards. It is an older hotel that has been refurbished. The rooms are small but clean, The staff is friendly and they they have a nice free Continental Breakfast. Try it. It's not bad at all.

Just back from RCL Empress to Bermuda, and we stayed at the Jersey City Doubletree. Nice hotel, clean and safe location. It was a couple blocks to the train station to NYC. $1.50 per person and stopped at the World Trade Center. From there another $1.50 will get you onto the subway and any location in NYC. Paid $70 through Priceline. The Courtyard is a little more convienent, and the Hyatt is a better location, but the Doubletree was a good compromise.

Did talk to folks from Canada who stayed at the Roosevelt and they loved it.
